Mike Busniuk, Assistant coach

Busniuk begins his seventh season in the Senators’ organization, coming from Muskegon (United Hockey League) where he was head coach and director of hockey operations during the 2002-03 season. He led the Fury to a 38-29-9 record (3rd place – Western Conference) in his first season as head coach in the minor-pro ranks. The Fury upset second-seeded Missouri three games to none in the first round of the conference playoffs before bowing out to Quad City four games to two in the conference final. Busniuk was the Montreal Canadiens’ 10th pick (67th overall) in the 1971 NHL Entry Draft. The Thunder Bay, Ontario, native appeared in 143 NHL games, all with Philadelphia after being signed as a free agent by the Flyers in October of 1977. His American Hockey League career spanned 397 games with the Nova Scotia Voyageurs and the Maine Mariners in which he registered 160 career points. Busniuk is one of four people in AHL history to win five Calder Cup championships as a player, and the only one to capture four consecutive cups. Busniuk’s pro coaching career began in the Southern Tier as an assistant coach with the Binghamton Rangers (AHL). When the franchise moved to Hartford, CT, in 1997, Busniuk remained as the assistant for another five seasons with the New York Ranger-affiliated Wolf Pack.

Matt Meacham, Video coach

Meacham, a native of Massena, N.Y., enters his second full season with the Binghamton Senators as video coach, following a two-year professional career. Meacham played two seasons in goal for Skidmore College, prior to joining the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons for the 2004-05 season. Meacham holds the record at SUNY Cortland for the most saves in a season, after registering 805 that year. In his senior year, Meacham was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Hockey Player of the Week, for the week ending January 22, 2006, as he lead the Red Dragons to their first win over SUNY Oswego for the first time in nine years. He finished with 39 saves in the 5-4 victory and posted a 55 save effort in a 1-1 tie with Utica, tying a career-high in saves. For the week he posted a .949 save percentage and 2.40 goals against average over the two games. Prior to the end of the 2005-06 season Meacham left Cortland to pursue his professional hockey career. For the remainder of the season he split time between the Jacksonville Barracudas of the SPHL and the Elmira Jackals, who were at that time a part of the UHL. In his final professional season with Jacksonville in 2006-07, Meacham played 20 games, logging 1,069 minutes. He posted a 6-7-3 record with a 3.65 goals-against-average as he helped backstop his team to the SPHL finals. In the 2007-08 season Meacham joined the B-Sens staff as a video coach intern under then head coach Cory Clouston and assistant coach Mike Busniuk. He also returned to Cortland that season where he finished his Bachelor’s of Science in Sports Management. Meacham was hired by the Ottawa Senators as the full time video coach for the Binghamton Senators in the 2008-09 season.
