    About Us

    1

    Established in 1972, Dynojet is a Research & Development

    company, employing over 100 people in Montana, Nevada,

    Holland, Germany and England.

    Dynojet Research develops after-market performance products

    and diagnostic tools for the Motorcycle and Automotive indus-

    tries. Dynojet's extensive product development testing required

    the use of a Dynamometer. Unable to find a Dynamometer to

    meet the needs of our Research & Development staff, Dynojet

    went to the drawing boards and pioneered the first single

    roller, inertia, chassis Dynamometer for motorcycles in 1989.

    Shortly thereafter Dynojet developed a computer interface and

    software package and began selling the first Model 100

    Motorcycle Chassis Dynamometer.

    The Model 100 proved to be affordable, reliable, accurate

    and above all consistent, not only from one measurement to

    the next, but also from one Dynojet Dynamometer to another,

    enabling communication and sharing of test data. The success

    of the Model 100 led to further developments in chassis

    dynamometer technology.

    Dynojet Research commits to a program of continued innova-

    tion and product development, leading to such milestone prod-

    ucts as the inductive HT spark pick up (1990), the Model 248

    Automotive Dynamometer (1994), data acquisition integration

    (1996), the SLEDyno Snowmobile Dyno (1997), WinPep soft-

    Model 224xLCHere it is, the latest in chassis dynamometer technology from

    Dynojet Research Inc. The model 224xLC incorporates our

    industry standard inertia testing, as well as the ability to perform

    loaded testing. When used in conjunction with the latest

    WinPEP 7 software, the 224xLC can perform loaded tests that

    include sweep, step, and wind drag simulation.The heart of the system is the ultra precise and consistent eddy

    current load absorption unit. When performing loaded testing

    the system utilizes an integrated torque cell to quantify the power

    absorption. Loaded tests are then able to be reviewed and ana

    lyzed in the WinPEP 7 software. Additional highlights of this sys

    tem include a quick and effective calibration routine that can be

    This analog module allows (4) additional 0-5v based sensors to be logged duringdyno runs. Now you can display data such as boost, fuel pressure, and intake

    air temperature right along side your HP / TRQ.

    WinPEP 7 has a built in sensor calibration routine that makes the set up simple.

    You can choose from various supported sensors, or input the data from any 0-5v sensor

    About WINPEP7 Software

    Dynojet's WinPEP (Windows Performance Evaluation

    Program) uses a Windows File Manager style selection win-

    dow, as well as an outline selection window to access previous

    runs and store new ones. Runs are stored by Make, Model, and

    Name (the same structure as our previous DOS version of "PEP").

    Objectives

    The Software Engineers at Dynojet understand your need to

    attain the maximum performance from the vehicles you evalu-

    ate. For this reason, they have developed a user-friendly inter-

    face which will allow you to easily develop new dyno runs,

    view previously stored runs, and compare multiple runs with the

    click of a mouse button. Whether you are new to the benefits of

    dyno testing or an experienced performance leader, the

    repeatability and diagnostic tools of the WinPEP software will

    give you the professional results you are looking for.

    System Requirements

    Dynojet recommends obtaining a computer system from a localsupplier who will assemble the system from individual compo-

    nents. The benefit in doing this is twofold: 1) The components

    and software in a scratch-built system are usually of higher qual-

    ity than the components used in mass-produced systems pur-

    chased from a typical computer superstore. 2.) When you obtain

    a computer from a local builder you also get their services should

    a problem arise. While problems may be few and far between,

    having a local source for assistance can be invaluable.

    You can use the Export Data function to eithergenerate a detailed text file or a file that can beimported into programs like Excel. You can then

    use Excel (or similar programs) to create yourown graphs or charts.

    This is an example oftext-based data export.

    Use the Export Graph function togenerate an image file in BMP, JPG,EMF or WMF file formats. This makesit possible for others to view run datawithout the need for special software.

    In dual graph mode the graph screen is splithorizontally. The split can be scaled to yourliking. In this example Air/Fuel is scaled to1/3rd of the screen under a power graph.

    The green graph represents a non-loaded inertia test. Thered graph was done utilizing the Wind Drag feature. Youcan see by the graphs that the power output is the same.

    This graph is an example of a step test. This test allows you todefine specific RPM points. During this test, each of these pointsare held and torque and horsepower readings are taken. Thesepoints are depicted by the square boxes shown in the graph.

    the Help menu in WinPEP 7.

    inferior narrow band technology, this unit has the capability

    to read from 10.0:1 to 18.0:1 using a Bosch 5 wire LSU4

    in-vehicle dash mount AFR display gauge with a built in

    Dynamometer Hardware

    Taking advantage of the newest wave in 32-bit computer technolo-

    gy, Dynojet introduces our new DynoWare EX+ dynamometer

    hardware. Currently comprised of four modules, the DynoWare

    EX+ replaces Dynojet's existing dynamometer hardware with this

    durable, efficient product. The modular design of the DynoWare

    EX+ system provides quick and economical expansion as new per-

    formance modules are introduced.

    Atmospheric Sensing Module:

    The Atmospheric Sensing Module measures absolute pressure, airtemperature, and relative humidity. These measurements are used

    by theWinPEP dynamometer software to correct power and torque

    measurements to standard atmospheric conditions according to an

    SAE, Standard, DIN, JIS, or EEC formula.

    RPM Module:

    The RPM Module receives and processes signals from up to 2 induc-

    tive pickups for measurement of engine RPM. Each input has an

    automatic gain circuit to compensate for a wide variance of ignition

    systems.

    Dynamometer I/O Module:

    The Dynamometer Input/Output Module sends and receives data

    from the dynamometer and the handheld pendant. The module also

    contains a buzzer and light which are activated when either the tire

    or dynamometer speed limit is approached.

    CPU Module:

    The CPU Module contains a 32-bit processor which acquires data

    from the expansion modules and communicates the data to the com-

    puter running the WinPEP software. The processor queries the

    expansion modules to determine which modules are connected. The

    CPU Module fastens to an attractive stand for placement on the com-

    puter or work bench. Each additional module then plugs convenient-

    ly into the one below it, providing expansion for future modules.

    Wide Band Air/Fuel Ratio SystemProvides real-time air fuel ratio analysis via a tailpipe sample tube or bung attachment. A/F data can also be graphed along withhorsepower, torque, etc.

    DynoTrac Load Control OptionThis option allows steady state load testing at a preset RPM, speed or percentage of load. Perfect for EFI mapping!

    OBD2 LinkThis option allows data provided from the ALDL (OBD2 port) to be shared with Dynojet Winpep software (Industry exclusive).

    Optical RPM PickupThis option is used when the standard method of RPM pickup is not available such as with diesel motors.
