Sams End of the Year Spiel

2008

The first one of these I wrote was in 1992. Here it is sixteen years later and I still

have the same wonderful joy in coming to work each day. Time really does flywhen you are having fun. All of you students, staff, even the UPS guy are fun to

work with. I hope you have had some fun this year too.

Of course school is serious as well. It cant be all birthday cake and walks for ice

cream. I hope you have had a chance to learn something new from me and from

all of your teachers here in Sawdon.

I know some of you have had many different challenges throughout the school

year.

Many of you have met those challenges and obstacles with strength and determi-nation. Others have had to face those challenges while kicking and screaming. I

know I throw a tantrum when I have to get out of bed!

In all seriousness, how you act during those difficult times is an important factor

in conquering those hurdles. Sometimes the only difference between a mountain

and a molehill is our own perspective.

There will be obstacles in your path that will re-

quire a lot of hard work. There are obstacles wait-ing for you that you havent even imagined yet.

However, you have had some success here. You

have gotten over and through some things this

year that you may have thought you would never

be able to do. Remember those successes and the

hard work that it took to be triumphant.

It also took some good choices to get through this

year. Some students have not made it through un-

til the end, but hopefully they will learn to makebetter choices and join us next year or the year

after.

The choices you make now and throughout your

young life will determine the type of person you

will become. Please continue to make good

choices. Become good people. It is what I

hope for every one of my students.

Congratulations graduates. You finallymade it out of high school. Now your real

life begins. I envy you in a way. Your whole

life is ahead of you. No matter what direc-

tion you choose to take, it is the beginning

of a new journey. You are newborn in a

way. You are at the starting line, not the fin-

ish line. You will have many new successes

in your life. Please come back to visit us

and share them.

For my students returning, please have a

safe summer. I am already looking forward

to a new school year with new faces, new

ideas, and new challenges.

going to be 17 in July. Her after school activi-

ties are to go to the south side and kick it with

her brother. Her favorite kind of music is rap

and r and b but mostly r and b. The instrument

she can play is the piano. The kind of sports she

drive. She drives a neon and if she wants to she

can drive well. Later in life she wants to open

up a barbershop. Her dream place is right here

he enjoys drawing, lis-

tening to music and

playing hacky sack.

Brandon is also cur-rently in the middle of

writing a book. His favorite kinds of music

are rock and rap music. His favorite things

about Sawdon are the teachers, classes, and all

the students. Brandon would like to add;

What makes Sawdon so significant is the

free spirit everyone shows. Respect and strong

will are what each of us show toward one an-

other. Sure there were problems and uneasyissues but thats going be the same with any

person at any school.

Ashley Ellsworth is a

junior that likes to go shopping,

listen to music, and chill with her

friends. She says she listens to every-

thing and her favorite artists are Lil

Wayne, Def Leppard, Slipknot, and

Disturbed. Her favorite thing about

Sawdon is how the teachers and staff

try to make sure that you are passingyour class, and her favorite memory

from this school year is making new

friends. Her favorite quote is If at first

Neil York will graduate

after the first quarter of next year.

He likes to skate, scratch, play hacky sack,

play guitar, and work out. Neil likes good

music and says some of his favorite bands

are HED(pe), Mindless Self Indulgence, DJ Clay, Marilyn Manson, and Johnny

Hobo. Neils favorite thing about Sawdon is that everyone has respect for each

other and the school is like one big family.

Lastly his favorite quotes are To each his own, and I would rather die stand-ing than live life on my knees.

Amanda FeneisAge: 18

Amandas hobbies include playing the Sims on the computer, cooking,reading, and creating art.

Amandas idea of a really great date is roses, dinner and then a first kiss

before ending the date.

Amanda plays the flute and piccolo. (She also enjoys playing the banjo and handsaw occasionally.)

Amandas plans for the summer are working,attending rabbit shows and living life.

Amanda can speak some German, some Span-ish and some Polish.

Amanda has 70 rabbits, 2 goats, 3 cats , 1 ham-ster, 1 dog, 2 ducks,8 chickens and last but not least 2 hens!!!

Amanda lives in Grand ledge in a house withherself and occasionally the random vagabondthat drops by.

Amandas plans after graduating are going tocollege working and on her down time being a hobo.

Judy is a teacher here at Sawdon. She is 58 and her after school ac-

tivities are to read, sew, make-beaded jewelry, water ski, bike ride

and garden. The instruments she likes to play would be the piano.

The type of sports she likes the most is water sports. Of course she

drives. She says that she is a good driver. The car she is currently

driving is a Taurus station wagon, but she will be driving a 1950Chevy truck after she restores it. Her dream place would be a house
