With Sensory Profile, you can determine how well children ages 3 to 10 process sensory information ineveryday situations. You can also profile the sensorysystem’s effect on functional performance. The results of Sensory Profile, when considered with other evalua-tion data, will give you greater insight about the childfor diagnostic and intervention planning.

Sensory Profile will help you understand a child’s sensory processing patterns. Items are grouped by sensory processing, modulation, and behavioral andemotional responses.

The nine factor groupings characterize children by theirresponsiveness to sensory input including:

• Low endurance/tone

• Oral sensory sensitivity

• Inattention/distractibility

The development of this evaluation tool was based onresearch on over a thousand children, including childrenwith disabilities, ADHD, and autism. The manualdescribes administration, scoring, and interpretation ofscores and provides a worksheet of items and factorsrelating to ADHD. It also explains the rationale, theory,and development of Sensory Profile.
