Matt.Brothers.enters.his.third.season.as.the.head.coach.of.the.DePaul.men’s.tennis.team...He.joined.the.DePaul.Athletic.staff.in.August.of.2007.and.has.made.a.posi-tive.impact.on.the.program.from.day.one.

During.the.2008-09.season,.the.Blue.Demons.capped.off.a.fantastic.run.in.the.BIG.EAST.Conference.Championship.with.a.program-best.second.place.finish...Entering.the.tournament.as.the.No..5.seed,.the.Blue.Demons.first.eliminated.the.fourth-seeded.Marquette.before.upsetting.then-No..23.and.top-seeded.Louisville.for.the.second.year.in.a.row...Senior.Jose.Moncada.was.a.unanimous.selection.for.the.BIG.EAST.All-Conference.team.

DePaul.entered.the.ITA.rankings.on.March.24.after.defeating.then-No..43.SMU.by.a.score.of.5-2...They.would.reach.a.program-best.ranking.of.No..50.while.ending.the.season.at.No..74.and.No..11.in.the.Midwest.Region...Austin.Doerner.and.Ben.Hartman.spent.six.weeks.on.the.national.doubles.poll,.and.reached.as.high.as.No..38..The.Blue.Demons.finished.the.2008-09.season.with.a.17-10.record.which.included.three.(Louisville,.SMU.and.Drake).wins.over.nationally.ranked.teams..

In.addition.to.the.success.on.the.court,.the.2008-09.team.earned.the.2009.ITA.Team.Academic.Award.while.individually.Alasdair.Graetz,.Vanja.Grgec,.and.Matija.Palinic.were.named.ITA.Scholar-Athletes...Eight.Blue.Demons.earned.All-BIG.EAST.Academic.team.accolades.while.those.same.eight.were.named.to.the.Athletic.Director’s.Academic.Honor.Roll..

The.2007-08.campaign.saw.the.team.make.huge.strides.in.Brother’s.first.year.at.the.helm.of.the.program...The.young.Blue.Demon.team.improved.upon.their.sixth.place.BIG.EAST.finish.from.a.year.ago,.to.upset.No..38.Louisville.in.the.consolation.finals.to.take.third...In.addition,.Moncada.and.Alasdair.Graetz.were.named.to.the.BIG.EAST.All-Tournament.team...Coach.Brothers.ended.his.first.season.with.a.16-10.dual.team.record...

Additionally,.five.student-athletes.including.Doerner,.Graetz,.Vanja.Grgec,.Hart-man,.and.Bartosz.Jozwiak.were.awarded.BIG.EAST.All-Academic.Team.honors.

Brothers.came.to.DePaul.after.spending.five.seasons.as.the.assistant.coach.of.the.University.of.Iowa.men’s.tennis.program...He.made.an.immediate.impact.with.the.Hawkeyes,.helping.them.achieve.both.individual.and.team.national.rankings.four.out.of.five.years...Brothers.also.helped.mentor.three-time.Big.Ten.Conference.standout.Stuart.Waters.in.his.transition.to.professional.tennis,.where.he.earned.ATP.rankings.in.both.singles.and.doubles.

While.at.Iowa,.Brothers.also.gained.invaluable.experience.under.head.coach.and.27-year.veteran.of.the.Big.Ten,.Steve.Houghton.

“From.Steve,.I.learned.what.college.tennis.is.truly.about;.not.just.making.our.student-athletes.better.tennis.players,.but.making.them.better.citizens.and.helping.to.provide.them.with.an.overall.successful.and.memorable.university.experience.”

It.is.this.tradition.of.excellence,.both.on.and.off.the.court,.that.Brothers.in.tends.to.instills.in.his.program.here.at.DePaul..

Prior.to.coaching.at.Iowa,.Brothers.traveled.throughout.the.United.States.and.Europe.for.four.years,.competing.in.professional.futures,.satellites.and.challengers...It.was.during.this.time.that.he.learned.the.discipline.and.intensity.necessary.to.compete.at.the.highest.levels.of.the.game.

Brothers.got.his.first.taste.of.collegiate.coaching.while.at.Mar-quette.University,.where.he.served.as.a.graduate.assistant.while.finishing.his.degree.in.1997...As.a.collegiate.player,.Brothers.was.a.team.leader.both.on.and.off.the.court...While.playing.No..1.doubles.and.No..2.singles.for.Marquette,.he.served.as.team.cap-tain,.helped.his.team.earn.a.top-10.ITA.regional.ranking.and.was.honored.with.the.Senior.Leadership.Award...

Before.transferring.to.Marquette.in.his.junior.year,.Brothers.played.No..1.singles.and.doubles.at.the.University.of.Wisconsin-Green.Bay.where,.as.a.freshman,.he.was.awarded.the.Mid.Continent.Conference.“Rookie”.of.the.year.award.and.was.picked.first.team.all-conference.both.freshman.and.sophomore.years.

Matt.resides.in.Chicago.with.his.wife.Jennifer,.who.is.expecting.their.first.child.in.July...The.couple.also.has.a.dog.Max.



A.dedicated.student.and.teacher.of.tennis,.Andy.Lauer.begins.his.first.season.as.a.graduate.assistant.coach.after.spending.the.previous.three.seasons.as.student.coach.with.the.DePaul.men’s.tennis.team.

Lauer’s.primary.responsibility.is.assisting.head.coach.Matt.Brothers.in.his.recruit-ing,.match.preparations.and.the.overall.player.development.of.the.student-ath-lete...The.first.year.assistant.is.also.charged.the.stringing.of.all.the.DePaul.men’s.and.women’s.racquets..

Away.from.the.DePaul’s.men’s.tennis.program,.Lauer.has.been.an.instructor.at.the.Shadow.Valley.Tennis.and.Fitness.Club,.an.assistant.tennis.teaching.professional.at.the.Skokie.Country.Club.and.helped.run.the.Nike.Tennis.Camp.at.Northwestern.last.summer.

An.accomplished.high.school.tennis.student-athlete,.Lauer.saw.his.playing.career.come.to.a.close.when.he.tore.his.labrum.in.2006..

Outside.of.tennis,.Lauer.became.an.Eagle.Scout.in.2005.and.continues.to.partici-pate.in.community.service.efforts.at.DePaul.University.through.St..Vincent.DePaul.Days.

Lauer.earned.a.bachelors.of.science.in.both.finance.and.marketing.from.DePaul.in.2009.and.is.currently.working.on.his.MBA.from.DePaul’s.Kellstadt.Graduate.School.of.Business.

The.son.of.Steven.and.Paula.Lauer;.he.resides.in.DePaul’s.Lincoln.Park.neighbor-hood..

The.Rev..Dennis.H..Holtschneider,.C.M.,.became.DePaul.University’s.11th.president.on.July.1,.2004..Since.his.inauguration,.he.has.led.the.successful.completion.of.the.university’s.prior.strategic.plan.and.creation.of.its.current.six-year.plan,.VISION.twenty12.

His.leadership.and.expertise.stem.from.a.broad.range.of.higher.education.experiences..He.was.an.administrator.with.St..John’s.University.in.Queens,.N.Y.,.from.1996.to.1999,.first.as.assistant.dean.of.Notre.Dame.College.and.later.as.associate.dean.of.the.university’s.College.of.Liberal.Arts.and.Sciences..Concurrently.he.served.as.an.assistant.professor.of.higher.education.in.St..John’s.Graduate.School.of.Education.

He.gained.a.university-wide.perspective.as.executive.vice.president.and.chief.operating.officer.at.Niagara.University.in.Niagara.Falls,.N.Y.,.from.2000.to.2004,.where.he.directed.the.univer-sity’s.strategic.planning.efforts.and.daily.operations.of.the.campus.

Adding.research.to.experience,.Father.Holtschneider.led.two.national.studies.of.examining.trends.in.governance.and.leadership.in.American.Catholic.colleges.and.universities..He.is.the.author.and.co-author.of.one.book.and.numerous.articles.on.U.S..higher.education.and.Catho-lic.higher.education,.as.well.as.a.frequent.consultant.and.speaker.on.these.topics.

His.expertise.has.led.to.service.on.numerous.external.committees.and.boards..In.Janu-ary.2009,.Father.Holtschneider.was.appointed.to.the.Illinois.Reform.Commission.and.was.appointed.to.the.School.Board.of.the.Archdiocese.of.Chicago.for.a.three-year.term..He.is.a.member.of.the.National.Leadership.Roundtable.on.Church.Management,.which.promotes.excellence.and.best.practices.in.management,.finances.and.human.resource.development.of.the.Catholic.Church.in.the.U.S.

In.addition,.he.currently.serves.as.a.trustee.of.Niagara.University.and.the.Chicago.History.Museum,.and.he.is.a.director.of.the.Economic.Club.of.Chicago..He.also.chairs.the.Education.Advisory.Board.of.the.Chicago.2016.Committee,.working.to.bring.the.Olympics.to.Chicago,.and.he.is.on.the.Board.of.Directors.of.the.Association.of.Catholic.Colleges.and.Universities..He.is.a.trustee.for.Ascension.Health,.the.nation’s.largest.Catholic.and.largest.nonprofit.health.system.

A.Detroit.native,.he.earned.a.bachelor’s.degree.in.mathematics.from.Niagara.in.1985..He.stud-ied.for.the.priesthood.at.Mary.Immaculate.Seminary.in.Northampton,.Pa.,.and.was.ordained.in.1989..Father.Holtschneider.studied.at.Harvard.University.and.received.his.doctorate.in.ad-ministration,.planning.and.social.policy.in.1997.after.writing.a.dissertation.on.the.early.history.of.financial.aid.in.the.United.States..He.has.been.a.case.researcher.and.writer.for.Harvard’s.schools.of.Education,.Medicine.and.Public.Health.

After.ordination,.Father.Holtschneider.served.as.director.and.then.rector.of.the.Vincentian.Community’s.college.seminary.program.at.Ozone.Park.in.New.York.City..While.in.New.York,.he.served.as.a.clinical.associate.professor.of.higher.education.at.the.State.University.of.New.York.at.Buffalo,.teaching.one.doctoral.seminar.each.fall.

One.of.the.nation’s.most.widely.respected.leaders.in.intercollegiate.athletics.and.a.driving.force.behind.the.continuing.expansion.and.development.of.DePaul’s.athletics.program,.Jean.Lenti.Ponsetto.is.now.in.her.eighth.year.as.DePaul’s.Director.of.Athletics.and.her.35th.as.a.member.of.the.Blue.Demon.athletic.family.

Ponsetto.was.named.to.her.current.position.on.July.1,.2002.and.the.Blue.Demons.have.expe-rienced.tremendous.success.both.on.and.off.the.playing.field.ever.since..She.also.guided.the.DePaul.efforts.in.2003.when.the.University.announced.it.would.join.the.BIG.EAST.Conference.in.2005.

An.advocate.for.student-athlete.welfare,.Ponsetto.initiated.and.provided.the.leadership.for.the.Sullivan-McGrath.Athletics.Capital.Campaign.which.has.yielded.the.funding.resources.for.the.renovation.of.Wish.Soccer.Field,.the.creation.of.the.Cacciatore.Softball.Stadium.and.renovation.of.the.Cherry.Family.Indoor.Track.at.the.Ray.Meyer.Center.

During.her.seven.years.at.the.helm.of.the.department,.14.of.the.15.Blue.Demon.athletic.programs.have.represented.the.school.in.NCAA.championships.including.seven.straight.NCAA.appearances.by.the.women’s.basketball.team,.two.trips.to.the.Women’s.College.World.Series.for.the.softball.program,.and.the.men’s.soccer.program’s.initial.trip.to.the.NCAA.Tournament.after.winning.the.BIG.EAST.Conference.regular.season.title.

Success.has.also.come.in.the.classroom.during.Ponsetto’s.tenure.as.the.athletics.director.as.over.700.Blue.Demon.student-athletes.have.been.named.to.conference.academic.honor.rolls..The.2008-09.academic.year.saw.the.men’s.track.and.field.program.post.the.highest.cumulative.grade-point.average.in.the.country.by.the.U.S..Track.and.Field.and.Cross.Country.Coaches.Association..Among.the.16.programs.in.the.BIG.EAST.Conference,.the.Blue.Demons.led.the.way.academically.in.women’s.basketball,.men’s.cross.country,.women’s.cross.country,.men’s.soccer,.women’s.tennis,.men’s.indoor.track.and.field,.and.men’s.outdoor.track.and.field..
