Chris Adams enters his seventh season at the helm of the women’s soccer program at North Georgia College & State University. Last season, Adams’ squad fi n-ished 8-7-2 overall and 5-3 in the Peach Belt Conference to fi nish fourth in the league, the programs highest fi nish since entering the NCAA four years ago. North Georgia also hosted their fi rst-ever NCAA postseason game in 2008, falling 2-0 to Armstrong Atlantic in the fi rst round of the PBC Tournament. In 2007, Adams’ team fi nished with a record of 7-9-1 and a birth in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament. In 2006, just their second season of competition at the NCAA Division II level, Adams led the Lady Saints to an 8-8-2 record and a sixth-place fi nish in the con-ference race. The Lady Saints also placed three players on the All-Conference Team, the most in the program’s history. Adams led the Lady Saints to their fi rst-ever victory as a member of the NCAA Division II, when they defeated Georgia Southwestern 7-0 on October 5, 2005. He later led the Lady Saints to the fi rst-ever Peach Belt Conference victory, defeating the University of South Carolina-Aiken 3-1 on October 15, 2005. Adams joined the North Georgia coaching staff as head men’s and women’s soccer coach in 2003. In two seasons at the helm of the men’s program, Adams led North Georgia to a 19-17-2 mark and was named the Southern States Athletic Confer-ence (SSAC) Coach of the Year in 2004. He

led the Saints to a third place fi nish in the conference and their fi rst NAIA Regional Tournament appearance in the program’s history. As the head women’s soccer coach, Adams guided the team to a 12-8-2 record in 2004 and a fourth place fi nish in the Southern States Athletic Conference, with a 7-4-0 record. Adams began his coaching career in 1995 while an undergraduate at the Uni-versity of Georgia (UGA), where he helped build the University’s fi rst women’s soccer team. In the fi rst year of competition, the Lady Bulldogs went 10-5-3 overall and posted a 3-3-2 mark in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In his three seasons with Georgia, the Lady Bulldogs compiled a 39-19-4 overall record and a 14-8-2 re-cord in SEC play. Chris recently was appointed as the head coach of the Atlanta Silverbacks who play in the W-League. He led the Sil-verbacks to a 10-2-1 record in his fi rst sea-son at the helm. “Coaching the Silverbacks this summer allowed me to work with high level players from all over the southeast. I believe it made me a better coach and gave me new ideas to bring back and implement into our program here at North Georgia.” Adams received a B.S. degree, from the University of Georgia in 1998, in Physical Education and Health with a Coaching Emphasis. He received his Mas-ters of PE and Health from North Georgia College & State University. He holds a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “A” License, a USSF National Youth License, and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Advanced National Li-cense. Adams is married to the former Melissa Donne Wilson of East Prairie, Mo., and the couple resides in Dahlonega. The couple has two daughters, Gracen and Anna.

Above: Head Coach Chris Adams will look to pick up his 50th victory as a head coach in 2009 as the Lady Saints enter their fi fth season of play in the NCAA and the Peach Belt Conference.

North Georgia College & State University is a coeducational state uni-versity emphasizing strong liberal arts, as well as pre-professional, professional, and graduate programs. Serving as a liberal arts university for all of its students and as a military college for its Corps of Cadets, the university is distinct in many ways. As the only four-year public institution in northeast Georgia, NGCSU offers a quality college experience in a beautiful mountain setting, about an hour north of Atlanta. Specializing in leadership training and producing leaders since 1873, the uni-versity has been designated by the state as The Leadership Institution of Georgia . For more than 130 years , North Georgia College & State University has been helping students discover remarkable things about themselves and the world. Our graduates gain a solid foundation on which to build their lives --not only a quality edu-cation, but cherished memories of great ex-periences, lifelong friends and good times. The administration, faculty, and staff at North Georgia are dedicated to the education and traditional values which enable students to excel in whatever fi eld they pursue. Classes are small and atten-tion is personalized. Faculty, not graduate teaching assistants, do all of the teaching at North Georgia. Located in Dahlonega, Geor-gia, a small historic town in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, the university of-fers more than 50 majors to prepare stu-dents for nearly any career. With more than 4,000 students, North Georgia College & State University is large enough to provide

a wide array of opportunities and activities, but small enough to allow personal atten-tion from professors and to foster friend-ships among students. Nestled in the mountains, the gold-rush town of Dahlonega has kept its historic charm and spirit. In this town of fewer than 4,000, students easily walk to nearby res-taurants, shops, banks and churches. The campus is safe, clean, and friendly, with the excitement and entertainment of metro Atlanta only a 90-minute drive away. Surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest, North Georgia College & State University is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream, with endless places for hiking, mountain climbing, hunting, fi shing, bird-watching, whitewater rafting, canoeing and camping. This area of North Georgia draws many visitors who enjoy its lush forests, stunning waterfalls and abundant wildlife. T

Randy Dunn is in his 14th year as Athletic Director and his 27th year at North Georgia College & State University in 2009-10.

Dunn served as the head men’s basketball coach for 14 years before retiring in 2003 to serve full-time as Athletic Director. Dunn is an alumnus of North Georgia College, having played basketball for the Saints for three years, graduating in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education.

After completing his undergraduate degree at NGC, Dunn was an assistant coach at Georgia Southwestern State University, where he received his M.Ed. in Physical Education. He became the assistant coach at the State University of West Georgia in 1981 before re-turning to North Georgia College in 1982. In 1996, Dunn’s men’s basketball team won the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference regular season championship and advanced to the NAIA National Tournament. That same year, Dunn was named GACC men’s bas-ketball “Coach of the Year”.

During his ten year tenure as Athletic Director, Dunn oversaw the addition of three new sports: women’s soccer, baseball and softball. The intercollegiate athletic program has produced 12 conference championships in the Georgia Athletic Conference, the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference, and the Southern States Athletic Conference. In the past fi ve years, the athletic department’s facilities have grown with the addition of the NGCSU Baseball, Softball, and Soccer Complex. Most recently, Dunn has overseen the athletic department’s transition from the NAIA to the NCAA and the Peach Belt Conference.

Dunn is married to the former Susan Reed, and they have a 18-year-old son, Jake.

Lindsay Reeves is in her 10th year with North Georgia Col-lege & State University and her third year as Associate Director of Athletics and third year as Senior Women’s Ad-ministrator in 2009-10.

In addition to her duties with the Athletic Department, she will continue teaching in the Health & Physical Education Department and serve as Di-rector of the Human Perfor-mance Lab.

Lindsay graduated from Ithaca College with a BS in Physical Education and received her Masters from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Exercise Physiology.

After completing her education she worked as the Director of Testing at Sports Training Institute in N.Y., then Assistant Director of Health & Fitness at General Electric World Headquarters in CT., and from 1990-1999 as the Director of Employee Wellness and faculty member at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Lindsay is married to Dave Reeves and they have a son Tim who is 21, and a daughter Kelley who is 19.

PBC Commissioner David Brunk with Athletic Director Randy Dunn in Memorial Hall for a conference matchup between the Saints and Columbus State University.

VISION STATEMENTThe Peach Belt Conference is committed to providing through its dependent collegiate members, a forum for student participation in athletic, academic and co-curricular events under the auspices of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division II.

We will exemplify the characteristics of a premier intercollegiate conference that prides itself on the inclusion of students of all demo-graphic groups who wish to participate in a well-rounded sports program. Our institutions, our academic goals, our athletic aspirations re-fl ect a communality of purpose and a commit-ment to excellence in the classroom and on the playing fi eld.

HISTORYNow entering its 20th year of existence in 2009-10, the Peach Belt Conference has be-come one of the elite Division II conferences in the nation. Since its inception in 1990-91, the Peach Belt has developed a consistent history of excellence which continues to this day with 28 national championships and 25 national fi -nalist

Starting with only two championships in 1991, in men’s and women’s basketball, the confer-ence has expanded to 13 championship sports with the addition of women’s golf in the fall of 2009.

The conference traces its roots back to No-vember of 1988 when 11 schools fi rst met in Greenville, S.C. to form a Division II confer-ence. Following a second meeting on Dec. 3, 1989, fi ve of those 11 schools, plus two others,

formed the Peach Belt and begin play in fall 1990.

The Peach Belt was less than a year old before capturing a national championship. The Co-lumbus State golf team took the honor by win-ning the 1992 national crown, the fi rst of three golf championships the Cougars own. One year later, the Lander men’s tennis team began their record-breaking run of eight straight national titles, the fi rst PBC dynasty. Since then, USCA men’s golf has won three straight national titles from 2004-06 while AASU women’s tennis has captured four titles overall.

The 2008-09 season was among the confer-ence’s most memorable. The Armstrong At-lantic State men’s and women’s tennis teams both won their respective national champion-ships – for the second year in a row; a feat only done once before in college tennis. In addi-tion, the Augusta State men’s basketball team became the fi rst to make back-to-back trips to the NCAA Elite Eight, the Armstrong Atlantic became the fi rst PBC volleyball team ever to advance to the Elite Eight and the North Geor-gia softball team was ranked #1 in the nation and reached the World Series.

The seven charter members of the conference were Armstrong Atlantic State University, Co-lumbus State University, Francis Marion Uni-versity, Georgia College & State University, Lander University, USC Aiken and USC Up-state. The name Peach Belt Athletic Conference was adopted in January of 1990 and modifi ed to Peach Belt Conference in May of 2000.

Augusta State joined the conference in 1991

and UNC Pembroke became the ninth member on July 1, 1992. They were followed by Ken-nesaw State University on July 1, 1994, Clay-ton State University on July 1, 1995 and the University of North Florida on July 1, 1997. Kennesaw State and North Florida departed for the Division I ranks in 2005, USC Up-state did the same in 2007, and the conference welcomed in North Georgia College & State University in 2005 and Georgia Southwestern State University in 2006.

For 2009-10, the Peach Belt has grown once again with the addition of the University of Montevallo and Flagler College, giving the PBC 13 members, the most the league has ever had. The addition of the two schools returns the PBC to the state of Florida and expands the league into Alabama for the fi rst time.

David Brunk was named the second PBC com-missioner in May of 2007. Brunk replaced Marvin Vanover, who was the fi rst PBC com-missioner from 1991 to 2007. Brunk is charged with continuing the strong growth of the con-ference as its second era begins.

Dr. David Potter, president of North Georgia College & State University, returns as the pres-ident of the Peach Belt in 2009-10.

The conference currently holds championships in 13 sports, six for men and seven for women. They are men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis, baseball, softball and men’s and wom-en’s golf.
