The season also included some of our favorite returning musicians such as Tommy Emmanuel, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Rhonda vincent, Blind Boys of Alabama, Alison Brown, Nicholas Payton and Ricky Skaggs and kentucky Thunder! The Friends of The Sheldon celebrated three successful benefit concerts, with artists Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie and the Guthrie Family, and Jewel. The incomparable Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra returned for a sold-out Gala, proving that St. Louis remains a great jazz town. The Sheldon Chorale and Sheldon Classics series continued to grow, artistically and in attendance with David halen, Peter henderson, Bjorn Ranheim and James ivey celebrating the birthdays of Schumann, Chopin, Paderewski and Barber, and the Chorale performing their usual repertoire of beautiful sacred and secular choral music. “Notes from home” continued to showcase the best in local and regional musicians in every genre, and helped dozens of non-profit groups raise money for their organizations. in a very special Notes From home program, some of St. Louis’ top performers came together for a one-night-only fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders’ earthquake relief efforts in haiti. The amazing event raised over $20,000. ShELDoN CoNCERT hALLThe 2009–2010 concert series at The Sheldon was billed as our “wish list”

season — with a line-up that included Sheldon series debuts by some of our

most sought-after artists, including Marty Stuart, Bettye Lavette, Cyrus

Chestnut, Chad and Jeremy, Eliane Elias, Steve Tyrell, Patty Loveless and The

irish Rovers. The season also included some of our favorite returning musicians

such as Tommy Emmanuel, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dee Dee Bridgewater,

Rhonda vincent, Blind Boys of Alabama, Alison Brown, Nicholas Payton and

Ricky Skaggs and kentucky Thunder! The Friends of The Sheldon celebrated

three successful benefit concerts, with artists Judy Collins, Arlo Guthrie and

the Guthrie Family, and Jewel. The incomparable Wynton Marsalis and the

Jazz at Lincoln Center orchestra returned for a sold-out Gala, proving that

St. Louis remains a great jazz town. The Sheldon Chorale and Sheldon Classics

series continued to grow, artistically and in attendance with David halen,
