For generations our family has always believed that maintaining the natural balance of the plant and making our wine with the least human
intervention only makes sense.
The Fini family’s strong cultural history has always promoted techniques that minimize environmental impact. We guarantee we will continue to
pursue our natural ways for generations to come.

tHe Site: early in the twentieth century, Plunkett stewart was looking for an area to establish a recognized hunt. traveling around the Unionville area, he was immediately struck by the view from the top of the hill overlooking Plantation Field. the legacy of his vision is for all of us to see and enjoy. the tradition of caring for the land has been carried on by his stepdaughter, Mrs. John B. hannum, and her family for over fifty years. today, Plantation Field is considered one of the finest fox hunting grounds in the country, and the Cheshire Fox hounds are regarded as one of the top packs in america.
Plantation Field, also known as logan’s Field, received its names from two sources. a Mr. logan built the large foundation – long in ruin – with stone from a quarry on the property. Failing to persuade his wife to move so far out into the country, he never finished building a house. Fifty years ago a group of Boy scouts received permission from Mr. stewart to plant bushes in the woods, thus the name Plantation Field. the footing consists of excellent topsoil and turf, which has not seen a plow for as long as anyone can remember.
tHe CoURSe: the Plantation Field Cross-Country Course took several years to complete as it was developed in context with the natural beauty of the site and with the goal of restoring many of the wonderful terrain features found on the property. in september 2002, we rebuilt sections of the ruins, an on-going project which, with your assistance, we intend to continue for several years.
Plantation Field’s courses were developed along three central themes. the Brandywine Valley is known for its historical significance during the revolutionary War, especially the Battle of the Brandywine. Preservation of agriculture and open space are everyday concerns to those of us who live in the area, which is why our courses were designed and built with these themes in mind. Plantation Field events is dedicated to the maintenance of open space resources, and we hope you will support our efforts.

Fei Code of Conduct for the Welfare of the Horse
1. the Fédération equestre internationale (Fei) requires all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the Fei’s Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences.
2. at all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. this includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack and transportation.
3. horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. this encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids.
4. events must not prejudice horse welfare. this involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event.
5. every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. this covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement.
The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.
Welfare of the Horse and Spectator Conduct
the sport of eventing is truly thrilling and challenging, requiring athletic skill and proper training to succeed. the welfare of horses is paramount to the sport, and we hope all spectators will respect our crowd control procedures. We have personnel to direct you and many signs and roped areas for competitors and spectators. horses are beautiful animals and this is an exciting sport, but it is important to always be aware of the activities around you. Please give competitors and horses plenty of space to pass and be aware as horses are galloping nearby.

You can’t see radon... and you can’t smell it or taste it.
But it may be a problem in Your homeRadon is a radioactive gas. It is colorless, odorless, tasteless, and chemically inert. Unless you test for it, there is no way of telling how much is present. Nearly 1 out of every 15 homes in the U.S. is estimated to have elevated radon levels, and in Pennsylvania 7 out of 10 homes have elevated levels.
Radon causes about 21,000 fatal cases of lung cancer each year, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). For every 1,000 nonsmokers exposed to radon levels that are twice the EPA’s recommended action level, about 15 will develop lung cancer. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer next to smoking.
The good news? radon problems are easy and relatively affordable
for property owners to fix.
The key to dealing with radon is awareness
