Kevin Tian Intel Open Source Tech Center

Kevin Tian currently works in Intel Open Source Technology Center. He joined Intel in 2003 after getting communication Master Degree from University of Electronic and Scientific Technology of China. In2004, Kevin joined a great team to develop a virtual machine monitor prototype based on Intel's virtualization technology on Itanium processor (VT-i). Inspired by the bright future of virtualization, he then joined xen/ia64 development from 2005. He and his colleagues first introduced the support of Intel VT-i technology into the xen/ia64, and thus allows unmodified domain to be supported on IA64 platforms. He also played an important role in other xen/ia64 aspects, including multiple domain support, architecture design of xenlinux and also the stability, tightly co-working with the community. Starting from 2007, Kevin entered another grand new area - power management in virtualization. After delivering 1st S3 support in Xen, Kevin headed a team to bring frequency/voltage scaling (known as cpufreq) and idlepower management (known as cpuidle) features to Xen. Now Kevin works with his colleagues on tuning Xen toward a more power efficiency model.
