Renewal Weekend Cancellation This is a very challenging time for all of us. After prayer,
discernment and discussion with members of our local secretariat we have made the
decision to cancel the fall Renewal weekend that was scheduled for September 25-27 at
St. Bernard's. Our concern is for the health of everyone. We encourage you all to pray for our
community during this time, along with praying for candidates and teams for the 2021 Cum
Christo weekends next June and for the Fall Renewal in 2021. God Bless, stay healthy and
happy. God has a plan.
Fr. Robert Grosch, Pastor

“Throughout salvation history, God has welcomed repentant sinners with special joy. Jesus concludes the parable of
the lost sheep with these words: “there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine
righteous people who have no need of repentance” (Lk 15:7).

Readings and Reflections 25th Sunday of Ordinary Time
First Reading: As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways above your ways and my thoughts above
your thoughts. (Is 55:9)
Reflect: While still in captivity in Babylon, Isaiah urged the Israelites to seek the Lord, for the Lord is near even in exile.
When have you felt the Lord’s presence in dark periods of your life?
Psalm: The Lord is near to all who call upon him. (Ps 145)
Second Reading: Brothers and sisters: Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. (Phil 1:20c)
Reflect: In his letter to the Philippians written from prison and toward the end of his life, Paul reflects on his spiritual dilemma between life and death.
How do you work through spiritual dilemmas?
Gospel: “‘Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money?
Are you envious because I am generous?’ Thus, the last will be first, and the first will be last.” (Mt 20:14-16a)
Reflect: Jesus’ parable of the workers in the vineyard of the Lord offers us important insights into the Kingdom of Heaven and God’s generosity. To
whom do you think this parable is unsettling?

St. Vincent DePaul is requesting St. Patrick Co-Cathedral‘s help and
assistance in gathering, sleeping bags, blankets and pillows for the coming
winter. This may sound like an unreasonable request with our current hot
weather, but the coming cold and snow is inevitable. There will be an
increased need for these items from previous years due to the pandemic.
Please consider donating any useful items you may find in your house or
garage that can be used to fulfill this need.
St. Vincent DePaul will be providing donation containers at
many local parishes for your convenience. Again, we thank
you for consideration and invaluable support.
