It helps that she has a terrific figure... "I don't get out of bed and it just happens," she says, slightly exasperated. "I've trained since I was 17. Even in Ibiza I took my trainer with me. It's what I like to do." And presumably she has the selfdiscipline...

"I think you're wrong," she says. "Is that discipline, doing something you enjoy? I see it as a way of life. If I'm really stressed at work, as I am at the moment, it revs my body up. My best meditation is going for a run, headphones on - it clears my head and I feel fantastic."

Her entrepreneur daughter Natasha wants Kelly to join her on Ganesh Retreats, a holistic weltbeing and healing weekend she has organised. "But I can't sit still likeTash does," says Kelly. "She's amazing."

So far her design business has weathered the recession storm, but clients with unlimited budgets are almost a thing of the past. "The necessity of greed has gone, which I absolutely loathed. Everybody wanted bigger and better, it wasn't about what was right I had lots of clients who went under, who one thought were multimillionaires

but it was all borrowed."

DESIGNS ON THE FUTURE Plans ahead include designing a London hotel, several other projects in the Near and Far East, and launching a wallpaper and candle collection. There's another book coming out next year, possibly some TV work and "some other stuff 1 can't talk about".

Along with her two big milestones she has moved house, split up with Nicky and opened a new shop in Notting Hill called The Yard. So, a year of change and transition?

"I suppose so but it's all positive," she says, picking up her car keys to drive to her next meeting. "My philosophy is you learn from the past, live in the present and visualise your future. If you don't learn from the past, you'll repeat all the things that have gone wrong in your life. I'm very good at knowing what I want, which is
