Asyouknow,2010markstheupdateoftheofficialAmericanHeartAssociationGuidelinesforCardiopulmonaryResuscitationandEmergencyCardiovascularCare(2010AHAGuidelinesforCPRandECC).Itshardtofathom,butalmostimmediatelyfollowingthereleaseofthe2005Guidelines,theworldstopexpertsinresuscitationandcardiovascularsciencebeganmeetingto

reviewcurrentandnewscienceinordertodevelopaninternationalconsensusonscienceand

treatmentrecommendationsfor2010.

Asthemomentumofthesciencereviewandconsensusprocessbuilds,webegintothinkabout

theimplicationsof2010AHAGuidelinesforCPRandECCandsubsequentupdatedtrainingmaterialsforourAHATrainingNetwork.Weunderstandthatthisprocesssignificantlyimpacts

youand

the

customers

you

train,

and

we

want

to

ensure

that

you

have

the

information

you

needtocontinuetoprovidetrainingandprepareforthereleaseofnew2010AHAGuidelinesforCPR&ECC.Below,wehaveprovidedaverypreliminarytimelineforthereleaseofthe2010AHAGuidelinesforCPR&ECC,therolloutofinterimtraininginformation,andultimately,thereleaseofnewtrainingmaterials.PleaseconsiderthistimelineasyoubegintoplanyourTrainingCenters

materialsbudgetfor2010,2011,andbeyond.

Regardingpricingofmaterials,pleaseknowthatwearemakingeveryefforttobalancetherising

costofmaterialsandproductionbyimplementingecofriendlystandardsandlookingatwaysto

increaseefficiency.

However,

we

generally

advise

that

you

plan

for

aslight

increase

in

pricing.

Itiscriticaltorememberthatthroughouttheprocessofreleasingthe2010AHAGuidelinesforCPR&ECCandnewproducts,theneedforlifesavingCPRandECCtrainingwillcontinue,andAHATrainingCentersandInstructorsmustcontinuetoprovidecoursestoeveryonethatneeds

andwantsthistraining.Tomeettheneedsofyourcustomersduringtheupdateprocess,

currentcoursematerialswillbeavailableandshouldbeuseduntilnewmaterialsarereleasedin

2011.Followingthereleaseofthe2010AHAGuidelinesforCPR&ECC,AHATrainingwillprovideTrainingCentersandInstructorswithinterimguidanceonhowtointegrateanynewscience

changesinyourcourses,whilestillusingthosematerials.
