Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University volleyball coach Denise Van De Walle wants nothing more than to make the final sea-son in Anderson Arena a special one. With the Stroh Center becoming the new home for BGSU volleyball beginning in 2011, the Falcons will play a 35th and final season in The House That Roars this year.

“I love this place,” Van De Walle said. “I have 27 years on this gym floor. It’s like home to me and it will be very emotional when the last ball goes down this season.”

Van De Walle, who won her 500th career match in the Mid-American Conference Tournament a year ago, is focused on reloading a program that struggled a year ago. From 2006-08, the team racked up a 72-25 record, including 37-11 in league play. But 2009 was a rebuilding sea-son as the Falcons went 13-20 overall and 5-11 in the MAC.

“We changed the gym culture,” Van De Walle said about what the coaching staff and players did during the offseason to erase the mem-ories of a year ago. “We raised the expectations, got new uniforms, changed our lounge and locker room, and changed our preseason fitness test. We did things to make sure we were looking forward and not back.”

The team charged with returning BGSU to prominence is a young team with seven freshmen and four sophomores. But there is experi-ence in key places. Seniors Sam Fish and Noelle Spitler will lead the team, along with juniors Emily Kauth, Susie Isphording and Madison Nitta. And the sophomore class of Cassie Berning, Ashley Herzberg, Kari Galen, and Lauren Mizgalski all saw enough playing time in 2009 to become key cogs this year. As well, freshmen Ashley Dunn and Lindsey Butterfield started at BGSU during the past spring semester and have time in the system.

That’s not to say the new class won’t make an impact. Along with Dunn and Butterfield, the group that includes Libby Dachenhaus, Danielle Tonyan, Paige Penrod, Kaitlyn Skinner and Laura Avila will provide an immediate change and should become more important as the year wears on.

“These young players are very talented and have fit in beautifully with the returners,” Van De Walle said. “They are strong and there is an op-portunity for all of them to play this season. We see great leadership potential in the young players but we will be relying on the returning players to set examples.”

SETTERSenior Sam Fish and freshman Laura Avila are the two setters on this squad. Fish recorded over 1,000 assists both as a freshman and sopho-more and has 93 career matches under her belt and over 300 career sets. She is also a strong server, posting 45 aces as a freshman, and needs just 11 more digs for 500 in her career. With that kind of experi-ence, Van De Walle has the opportunity to bring Avila along slowly but she has the potential to play immediately as well. She guided her Yorktown High School (Yorktown, Ind.) team to a 37-2 record as a senior and a state runner-up finish. She was named first team all-state and the Indiana Class 3A Mental Attitude Award winner.

MIDDLEFirst team All-MAC middle Shari Luther graduated, leaving an opportu-

nity for playing time but this position is still loaded. Junior Emily Kauth started all 33 matches a year ago and was second on the team with a .247 attack percentage, while also ranking second on the team with 77 blocks. Senior Noelle Spitler was one of six players on last year’s team with at least 100 kills and she produced more as the season wore on. Sophomore Kari Galen had a chance to develop in her first season with the Falcons, playing in 12 matches and posting a respectable .250 attack percentage in limited time. Those three returners will likely see the majority of the time in the early-going but freshman Kaitlyn Skinner will look to work her way into the rotation. Skinner led her high school team to a 56-8 record in four years and a pair of league championships.

RIGHTSIDEOn the right side, sophomore Lauren Mizgalski and freshman Danielle Tonyan will compete for playing time. Mizgalski has shown tremen-dous potential, starting eight matches a year ago, but injuries have limited her to a redshirt season in 2008 and just 20 matches a year ago. Tonyan is a three-time team MVP from McHenry High School (McHen-ry, Ill.) who posted 820 career kills and 334 as a senior in 2009.

LEFTSIDEThe left side is stacked with junior Susie Isphording, sophomore Cassie Berning, and freshmen Lindsey Butterfield and Paige Penrod. Bern-ing played in 30 matches and started 13 times last year but she was hampered by an injury that kept her from playing at full strength for a portion of the season. Still, she was one of only three players with 100 kills and 100 digs a year ago. Isphording has 62 career matches under her belt and had 245 digs and 25 aces as a freshman. She started seven times a year ago and brings a lot of experience to the table. Fresh-men Butterfield and Penrod are highly talented and have a winning pedigree. Butterfield’s team went 23-2 during her senior season when she was named team MVP and GWOC Player of the Year. Penrod is a record-breaking performer who led her team to a 27-1 record and a state runner-up finish a year ago. She broke the Ohio state record with 636 kills as a junior and added 600 last year, the third-most all-time. She also holds the state record with 45 kills in a match and was named first team all-state, while being included on the honorable mention list of JJHuddle’s 50 Most Memorable Athletes of the Decade in the state of Ohio.

DEFENSIVESPECIALIST/LIBEROThe defensive specialist and libero positions should have great com-petition for playing time. There is a young, but very talented, group of players in the mix. Junior Madison Nitta joins sophomore Ashley Herzberg and freshmen Ashley Dunn and Libby Dachenhaus in vying for time on the floor. Herzberg held the starting libero role for a por-tion of 2009 and was second on the team in serve receive percentage. Nitta has seen limited time in her first two seasons with the Falcons but does have 22 matches of experience to lean on. Dunn, who hails from Bowling Green, had over 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs in high school, guiding her team to a perfect 14-0 league record a year ago. She was the District 7 Division I Player of the Year and started at BGSU a semester early, giving her time to adjust to college life. Dachenhaus was a Toledo All-City League player at St. Ursula Acad-emy, helping the team to a 23-3 record in 2009.

VANDEWALLE’SFONDESTMEMORIESOFANDERSONARENA1 – I will always cherish our first MAC Championship win in 1989. It was such an exciting match against Western Michigan. Western was 98-0 in the conference. We were both undefeated that year in the conference and we had never beaten them or even gotten a game off of them, and there were over 1,000 people in the stands for the match. They televised it on a regional station. It was so much fun to beat them at home for our first MAC Championship!2 – Another great memory was our 2006 match against Ohio. It was a similar situation as 1989. We were both undefeated in the conference and we had a 17-match winning streak going. It was electric in the gym. We lost in five in one of the best volleyball matches we’ve played.3 – One of the best coaches in the game of volleyball is Arie Selinger. In 1999, we played his professional “Dream Team” which was made up of National Team players and Pro League players. That team was loaded with talent! They were bigger, faster, and stronger than we were. It was such a thrill for me personally to coach against one of the coaches I have always admired from my earlier days as a player and coach. We didn’t win the match, but we caused him to call a timeout and that was our goal in each game!

On Nov. 17, 2009, Head Coach Denise Van De Walle reached an impressive milestone, post-ing her 500th career victory at Bowling Green State University with a win over rival Toledo in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. With a 500-342 record in 27 seasons at the helm, she is the dean of MAC coaches and the all-time win-ningest coach in league history.

Van De Walle has built a pro-gram that ranks as one of the best in the MAC and Midwest. Ranking among the 30 win-ningest active coaches in Divi-sion I, she has led the Orange and Brown to a winning season in 18 of the last 23 years. She has 13 seasons with 20-plus wins and a 30-win campaign in 1992.

On four occasions Van De Walle has been voted the MAC Coach of the Year, receiving outright honors in 1986 and 1989. She shared the award in both 1987 and 1992.

Finishing just 13-20 during the 2009 season, the team may not have had the most impressive record in Van De Walle’s tenure, but she did arguably the best coaching job of her career. The Falcons lost their first six MAC matches and had a stretch of 11 consecutive losses at one point, but Van De Walle never allowed her team to give in. BGSU rebounded in a big way, going 5-5 in league play down the stretch, including wins over two teams that had defeated the Falcons earlier in the year.

When the dust settled on the regular season, Van De Walle sat at 499 career wins and the team earned just a No. 11 seed for the MAC Tournament, forcing the Falcons to go on the road to face rival Toledo, another team that had beaten them earlier in the year, in the first round. In an epic five-set struggle, Bowling Green avenged the earlier defeat with a 26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 16-25, 15-12 win that gave Van De

Walle her 500th career victory.

Prior to 2009, the program had posted three consecu-tive 20-win seasons and a 37-11 MAC record during that stretch. The 2008 team went 25-9 overall and 12-4 in league play, winning championships in the Temple Invitational and the Marquette Challenge. The 2007 team went 21-10 and the 2006 squad finished 26-6, which included a 17-match winning streak and a trip to the MAC championship match. The team went 13-3 in conference play in 2006, the most wins for the program in MAC play since 1993, and followed that up with a 12-4 record in 2007.

Van De Walle, whose tenure is the longest of any current head coach at Bowling Green, became just the third coach in the history of BGSU volleyball on June 30, 1983, and has ex-perience coaching at the high school, college, national, and international levels.

In May of 2001, Van De Walle was named President of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and has been very active in the AVCA during her Falcon tenure.

In the fall of 2002, Van De Walle became the first coach to amass 350 career wins at a MAC school, reaching that plateau in a win over Marshall. In 2005, she picked up win number 400 with a 3-0 sweep over Chicago State.

From 1999-01, Van De Walle led the team to three consecu-tive 20-win seasons, just the second time in school history – both under Van De Walle – that BGSU teams have ac-complished that feat. The 1999 team went 21-12 and was the most improved team in the MAC, winning 10 more matches than the 1998 team’s 11-21 mark. The Falcons tripled their conference win total by going 12-6 and advancing to the tournament semifinals.

Following that 1999 season, BGSU lost a strong senior class and was picked to finish fourth in the East Division. But the Falcons proceeded to go 21-9 and tie for the division title. The 2001 squad finished 21-8 and finished 12-6 in MAC play for the third straight year, finishing first in the division again.

Van De Walle’s most success-ful stretch came from 1989-93 when she guided the Orange and Brown to five straight years of 20 or more wins. The team finished first in the MAC in 1989, 1991 and 1992 and was second in 1993. The 1989 team won the program’s initial MAC title, halting Western Michigan’s 98-match league winning streak and seven-year reign as league champion in the process. The team finished with a perfect 8-0 league mark, the only unde-feated MAC season in program history.

The 1990 team went 26-7 over-all but that was only the start. BGSU went 59-13 over the next two seasons and 32-2 in MAC play, winning back-to-back con-ference titles. The 1991 team made the program’s first NCAA appearance and the Falcons finished the year ranked No. 19 in the country. The 1992 team set a school record for victories in a season by going 30-8 and the Falcons capped a spectacu-lar fall campaign by finishing with a runner-up finish at the National Invitational Volleyball Championship – the highest ever by a MAC member.

The 1993 team again advanced to the NIVC and finished third in its pool to go 20-11 overall. The Falcons finished second in the MAC in both regular season and tournament action.

For all of the team’s on-court achievements, Van De Walle’s squads have perennially been one of the top teams off the court as well. She has had numerous regional Academic All-Americans, including Emily

Manser, who was a member of the ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA Academic All-American team in 2004 and 2005. BGSU volleyball is an 11-time recipient of the AVCA/Game Plan Na-tional Academic Award, includ-ing one season with the highest GPA in the nation.

Van De Walle’s volleyball squads have recorded the highest team GPA on campus in six of the last ten years. Over the last 14 years, the Falcons have graduated 47 players from the volleyball program. No fewer than 37 of those players had a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better.

While her Falcon teams have had plenty of success, Van De Walle has also excelled at other places.

A 1976 graduate of Ball State, Van De Walle began her coach-ing career at Northside High School in Muncie, Ind., where she led her team to an overall record of 54-9 during the 1977 and 1978 seasons. Her 1977 squad posted an impressive 29-1 record en route to the state championship while her 1978 team produced a 25-8 slate that included sectional and regional titles. For her efforts, Van De Walle was named Coach of the Year by the Indiana High School Athletic Association following the 1978 campaign.

She then became a graduate assistant at her alma mater in 1979, coaching the junior var-sity team while assisting with the varsity.

In 1980, Van De Walle returned to Northside and guided the team to a sectional champion-ship and a 25-3 record. That year, she also coached the Michiana Volleyball Club that participated in the United States Volleyball Association Junior Nationals in California and the Junior Olympics in Illinois. In 1981, Van De Walle joined the program at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo as an assistant coach and helped the Mustangs to a 41-8 record and a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Division I Championships.

She went back to Ball State in 1982 as the assistant coach, and the Cardinals finished third in the MAC with a 33-12 overall record. Following that season she came to BGSU to begin her storied Falcon tenure.

During the summer of 1983, Van De Walle was an assis-tant coach with the Athletes in Action volleyball team that toured the Far East with stops in Hong Kong, Japan, and China. She assisted the overall tour preparation in the areas of cultural, spiritual, and physical conditioning. She again accom-panied the AIA team to the Far East in 1984, this time serving as head coach, returning home with a mark of 9-4.

In 1993, Van De Walle coached at the U.S. Olympic Festival in San Antonio, Texas. That stint marked her second Festival coaching appearance in three years. At the 1991 games held in Los Angeles, Van De Walle guided the East to a bronze medal.

In 1992, Van De Walle was to have coached the U.S. Junior National Women’s Volleyball Team at the North America, Central America, and Canada (NORCECA) World Champi-onships in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but, un-fortunately, the U.S. could not participate. However, she was in charge of running the USVBA women’s senior elite camp in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she organized scrimmages between the senior groups and the junior national unit she was to have coached. Van De Walle also assisted women’s national team head coach Terry Liskev-ych in selecting the participants to the camp. BGSU’s Carey Amos participated in this camp.

In 1995 and 1996, Van De Wal-le was named the head coach of the AIA volleyball teams which toured Bolivia and South Africa, respectively. The 1995 team finished with a 10-3 record while the 1996 squad posted an unblemished 8-0 mark.

In the summer of 1998, Van De

Walle was a part of the first-ever international mission of the Fel-lowship of Christian Athletes. She was the only volleyball coach in a four-person group that traveled to Singapore. That group conducted clinics and spoke at various youth activities and church functions during the mission. Van De Walle returned to Singapore during the summer of 2000.

Van De Walle was a setter at Ball State and served as team captain in 1975. She led the Cardinals to the 1973 Indiana State Championship and a 13th place finish at the AIAW nationals.

A much-requested clinician and instructional speaker, Van De Walle has worked at volleyball camps throughout the nation. She also serves as a leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes huddle at BGSU and advisor to H2O. In fact, she was inducted in the Northwest Ohio chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ Hall of Champions in May of 2010, being honored in the inaugural class.

The Falcon mentor has been a member of the NCAA Mideast Region volleyball committee while also serving as an alternate on the NCAA Division I National Committee in 1990.

Van De Walle served on the AVCA Board of Directors from 1993-2000 as the Division I representative, but relinquished that role upon becoming President in May of 2001. She served on the board as Past-President the following year.

Van De Walle also sat on the board of directors for USA Volley-ball. She is in her fourth year as an AVCA Top-25 poll voter and additionally, Van De Walle led the USA Women’s National Sitting Volleyball Team to a bronze medal as an assistant coach in the 2004 Paralympic Games in Greece.

Van De Walle helped guide the National Sitting Team in June of 2006 at the Triple World Championships in the Netherlands. With a sweep of Ukraine, the red, white and blue finished fifth.

In the summer of 2007, Van De Walle and the National Sitting team ended second in the Asia-Oceanic Cup, finishing behind only China, the host of the event.

In April of 2008, Van De Walle and the Women’s National Sitting Team finished third with a bronze medal at the first ever World Organization Volleyball for the Disabled Intercontinental Cup in Egypt. Van De Walle and Team USA competed in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics in September, returning home with a silver medal.

Mark Hardaway has served two stints as an assistant coach at Bowling Green. He enters his sev-enth season of his second term after working as an assistant coach in 1991 and 1992 under head coach Denise Van De Walle.

Bowling Green has finished with a winning record in seven of his eight seasons as an assistant coach and the program has compiled a 179-86 record in those years. He has acted as the head coach twice in the past six years, serving when Van De Walle coached the National Sitting Team twice.

In 2008, while Van De Walle was at the Beijing Paralympics with the National Sitting Team, Hard-away led the team to a 7-1 record and a championship at the Marquette Challenge. In 2004, while Van De Walle was in Greece, Hardaway compiled an 8-2 record including a perfect 4-0 mark at the West Virginia Invitational and a 2-0 start to Mid-American Conference play with wins over Toledo and Northern Illinois.

In 1991 and 1992, Hardaway teamed with Van De Walle to lead the Falcons to the 1991 MAC Tournament crown and the team’s first NCAA Tournament appearance. In his two seasons, Bowling Green went 59-13 overall and dominated the MAC to the tune of a 32-2 mark.

Hardaway was then named the head women’s volleyball coach at Western Kentucky, where he led the Hilltoppers to back-to-back 20-win seasons and had a .625 winning percentage. He then moved on to Evansville, where he was the head coach from 1995-02. At Evansville, Hardaway’s players earned 11 all-conference, five all-newcomer, and 20 academic all-conference selections. He also had two players drafted by the U.S. Professional Volleyball League.

Hardaway returned to Bowling Green in 2004, where he has helped lead the team to a record of 107-53 and a pair of second place finishes in the MAC East Division. He has also coached the team to a 15-3 record in those two stints when Van De Walle was coaching the National Sitting Team.

He was an assistant at Cleveland State for two years prior to that, compiling a mark of 37-19 with a second place finish in the Horizon League in 2004 and an appearance in the conference tournament semifinals in 2005.

Frost spent 2002 as the assistant coach at Taylor (Ind.), where he helped compile a 33-15 overall record and consistently had the team ranked among the NAIA top 25. Prior to his time at Taylor, Frost helped coach the Moody Bible Institute women’s volleyball team to the NCCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championship and third place finish at the NCAA National Tournament, with a 27-11 overall record.

ABOUTTHE2009FALCONSAfter three consecutive 20-win seasons, Bowling Green had a losing season for the first time since 2003 with a 13-20 overall record and 5-11 mark in the Mid-American Conference. But the Falcons battled through a difficult season to peak at the right time. After starting 0-6 in MAC play, BGSU went 5-5 the rest of the way and then upset Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tournament before losing in the MAC quarterfinals to a strong Miami program.

500CAREERWINSIn 2009, Denise Van De Walle became the first coach in the MAC to win 500 career matches. When the regular season ended, she sat at 499 career wins and took her team on the road to face rival Toledo in the first round of the MAC Tourna-ment. The Falcons battled to a five-set victory to give Van De Walle milestone win No. 500.

MACDOMINANCEOver the past four seasons, Bowling Green has been pretty dominant in the Mid-American Conference. The Falcons are 42-22 in league play since 2006, finishing second in the divi-sion twice.

INBOWLING,IT’SCALLEDPERFECTIONCorey Domek became the first player in program history to record at least 300 kills in four different seasons. As a fresh-man in 2005, she had 313 kills and followed that up with 390 as a sophomore and 396 as a junior. She got off to a slow start in her final season but had at least 10 kills in each of her final six matches to end 2009 with 328. She ranks fourth all-time at Bowling Green with 1,427 career kills.

EFFICIENCYISKEYAlthough she started every match as a junior, Shari Luther really burst onto the scene in 2009 for her final season. The senior middle was named first team All-MAC and led the conference with a .357 attack percentage, ranking 33rd nationally.

ROMMECK COMPETES WITH NATIONAL TRAINING TEAMWhen the Falcons’ 2001 volleyball season came to an end that No-vember, one Falcon team member’s season was far from finished.

Caty Rommeck was selected to the USA Women’s National Train-ing Team, and headed to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., in January of 2002.

The team consisted of 12 players picked from a tryout held in San Diego, Calif., after the Final Four in mid-December, 2001.

Players vying to make the team included members of the last U.S. National Team as well as U.S. Professional Volleyball.

“I am thrilled for Caty to have this opportunity,” said BGSU head coach Denise Van De Walle at the time of Rommeck’s selection. “To train at the Olympic Training Center with Toshi (coach Toshiaka Yoshida) and the other players selected is a chance of a lifetime.”

In 2001, her senior season, Rommeck earned All-MAC First-Team honors for the second consecutive year, and also was named to the All-Mideast Region Team. She became just the fourth Falcon player to earn all-region honors in the history of the program, and the first in a decade. Rommeck’s name can be found throughout the BGSU record lists.

Rommeck capped off her successful three-year career at BGSU by leading the Falcons to a third consecutive 21-win season. She led the MAC by a wide margin in kills per game and was second in the league in blocks per game.

FALCONS AT THE U.S. OLYMPIC FESTIVALBeing selected to play in any national or international competition is certainly a goal of many collegiate athletes. BG’s Tammy Schiller realized that goal in the summer of 1990 when she participated in the U.S. Olympic Festival in Minneapo-lis, and again in 1991 when she competed in the games in Los Angeles.

The middle hitter assisted the South team to a 3-1 record en route to the 1991 gold medal. She played in all four of her team’s matches. In nine games, Schiller registered 14 kills for a hitting percentage of .297. She also recorded 19 digs and nine blocks. Schiller had a strong outing in the gold-medal match against the West in which the South came back to win 5-15, 13-15, 15-11, 15-12, 15-8. The only team to defeat Schiller’s South squad was BG head coach Denise Van De Walle’s bronze-medal winning East unit, which came away with a thrilling 15-11, 9-15, 10-15, 16-14, 15-10 victory.

Van De Walle, who was selected to coach the U.S. Junior National Women’s Team at the NORCECA World Championships in 1992, also coached the West at the USOF in 1993. Her squad was the only team to defeat the eventual gold-medal winners that year as well.

Schiller struck sil-ver in 1990 as a member of the West where she led her team with a .298 attack percentage, collecting 23 kills in four matches. The West team went undefeated in pool play, but lost to the North in four games in the gold-medal match.

With Schiller’s selection to compete in the Festival in 1990, she became only the second BG volleyball player to earn a spot on a Festival roster. That same year, Schiller and teammate Linda Popovich became the first BG players to earn All-Mideast honors. Popovich was the initial Falcon to compete in the Festival, earning the honor in 1987.

LINDA POPOVICH Linda Popovich, one of the finest student-athletes to go through the University, capped a brilliant four-year career as a student in 1990 by earning the Walter Byers Scholar-ship, and as an athlete by being named the “Most Valuable Player” in the MAC. A 1995 BGSU Hall of Fame in-ductee, Popovich concluded her academic career at BG with a 3.95 GPA majoring in political science and economics. BGSU’s representative at numerous student sympo-siums and programs, she earned the Byers Award which is given annually to the top male and female graduating seniors in the country. Byers Award candidates must have at least a 3.50 GPA, show evidence of superior character and leadership, and demonstrate that participation in athletics has been a positive influence on personal and intellectual development. In addition, Popovich, a setter, was a first-team Academic All-American each of her last two years at BG. A third-team Academic All-American as a sophomore, Popovich was the first BG athlete to earn GTE national academic honors three times and was only the fourth from a MAC institution. She is the only female in conference history to earn first-team national academic honors twice and was a three-time MAC All-Academic pick. On the court, Popovich earned all-MAC laurels four times, league freshman-of-the-year accolades in 1986, and MAC Player-of-the-Year honors in 1989. She established league career records for assists (4,460 - 17th on the NCAA career list at the time) and digs (1,246) and left BG holding five additional school records. Her career assist and ace totals still stand as school marks. Popovich played in every game of every match during her four-year career.

MACCOMMISSIONER’SAWARD

FALCONSINTHEHALLOFFAME On July 21, 2006, former Falcon volleyball standouts Carlyn Esslinger and Megan McGuire joined an elite few when they were inducted into the BGSU Athletic Hall of Fame. Esslinger, a two-time All-MAC first-teamer, joined Linda Popovich, Tammy Schiller and Lisa Mika as the fourth Falcon volleyball player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. She holds the all-time record for most attack attempts and second most kills in Falcon history. After completing her basketball career, McGuire joined the Falcon volleyball squad and helped lead them to their first MAC title in 1989.

Mika, a native of Flossmoor. Ill., was a four-time All-MAC selection from 1988-91. Mika is the Falcons’ all-time leader with 569 total blocks, including 156 solo rejections. She also finds herself ranked in the top five in four offensive categories.

Popovich and Schiller, obviously, also had incredible success as BGSU student-athletes. Popovich capped her brilliant four-year career, both on and off the court, by earning the 1990 Walter Byers Scholarship. That award is given to the top male and female graduating seniors in the country. In addition, she was the first BG athlete to earn GTE Academic All-America honors three times. On the court, she was the MAC’s Player of the Year as a senior.

Schiller earned All-MAC first-team honors three times and twice was the league’s Player of the Year. She is the only Falcon volleyball player to amass such totals. Additionally, Schiller was the only first-team All-Mideast selection in school annals. She twice participated at the U.S. Olympic Festival, and – like Popovich – still ranks at or near the top of numerous Falcon record lists.
