During his rstseason as Auburn’sheadcoach,Gene Chizik demonstratedthat greatthings are in store for theTigers under hiscommand.In hisrst season,Chizikled theTigers toan 8-5 record and a victory overNorthwesterninthe2010OutbackBowlonNewYear’s Day. He became the rstheadcoachinschoolhistorytoleadhisteamtoabowlgameinhis rstseason,justthethirdcoachin Auburnhistorytowin his rstvegamesasheadcoachandonlythethirdSECcoachsincetheconferenceexpandedin1992towinhisrstvegames. Chizik’srstAuburnsquadsetnumerousteamandindividualrecords,includingteamrecordsformostpoints(433)andtotalyards(5,613)inaseason.TheTigershadaknackforplaying wellinbig games,winningfourgamesagainstteamsthatplayedinbowlgamesduringthe2009season. The program’s defensive coordinator from 2002-04, Chizik wasnamedAuburn’s26thheadcoachonDecember13,2008,afterservingthetwopreviousseasonsasheadcoachatIowaState. A 23-year coaching veteran,Chizik helped Auburnand Texas toconsecutiveundefeatedseasonsin2004and2005.Histhree-yearstintasAuburn’sdefensivecoordinatorculminatedin2004,whenhehelpedguidetheTigerstoa13-0seasonwhileearningtheFrankBroylesAwardasthenation’stopassistantcoach. Chizik also served as the assistant head coach and co-defensivecoordinatoratTexasfrom2005-06wherehehelpedtheLonghornstoaperfectseasonandNationalChampionshipin2005. During histenureatAuburn, Chizik’s 2004defenseledthenationinscoringdefense(11.3ppg)andwasfthnationallyin totaldefense,allowingjust277.6yardspercontest.InthreeyearsatAuburn,Chizikhelped the Tigers to a 30-9 mark including an 18-6 SoutheasternConferencerecord.In2003,Auburn’sdefensewasfthnationallyintotaldefense. InhistwoseasonsinAustin,theLonghornswere22-3.Atonepoint,hewasapartof29consecutivevictories,whichbeganin2003atAuburnandendedin2006atTexas. Chizik’sreputationasanoutstandingteacherisevidentbythefactthathetutoredaremarkablethreeconsecutiveThorpeAwardwinners,startingwithAuburn’sCarlosRogersin 2004,followedbyTexas’MichaelHuffandAaronRossin2005and2006,respectively. DuringhistwoseasonsatIowaState,the46-yearoldChizikwasinthemidstofarebuildingprocess,directingtheCyclonestoa5-19mark.TheIowaStateadministrationrewardedChizik’sleadershipandvisionfortheprogrambyofferinghimatwo-yearcontractextensionfollowingthe2008season. Chizik’srstwincameagainstintrastaterivalIowain2007,making
him the rstCyclonecoach since1907to beat the Hawkeyesin hisinauguralseason.The2007seasonalsoincludedconferencewinsoverKansasStateandbowl-boundColorado. PriortohisarrivalatAuburn,Chizikwasthedefensivecoordinatorforfourseasons(1998-01)atCentralFlorida,whereheimprovedaunitthatwas81stnationallyintotaldefensebeforehisarrivaltoonethatwas16thinthecountryin2001. ChizikspentsixseasonsatStephenF.Austinfrom1992-97,overseeingthelinebackers(1992-94)andsecondary(1995-97).WhileatStephenF.Austin,ChizikhelpedtheLumberjackstoback-to-backNCAADivisionI-AAplayoffs,includinganationalseminalappearancein1995. Hebeganhiscoachingcareerasdefensivecoordinator(1986-88)atSeminoleHighSchoolinSt.Petersburg,Fla.,beforebecomingagraduateassistantatClemsonforapairof10-winteamsin1988-89.Chizik’srstfull-timecollegecoachingpositioncameatMiddleTennesseeState,wherehehelpedleadtheBlueRaiderstoNCAADivisionI-AAplayoffsinbothofhisseasons(1990-91)andtoaconferencechampionshipin1990.
Chizik earned his B.A. degree ineducation fromFloridain 1985andhis M.A.in guidance andcounseling fromClemsonin 1991.AClearwater,Fla.,native,Chizikandhiswife,Jonna,havetwindaughters,LandryGraceandKennedyDanielle,andson,Cally.

This year the clinic will feature several successful high school football coaches and their staffs as well as Phillip Fulmer, former head coach of the University of Tennessee.In addition, you will have the opportunity to meet and discuss football individually with each Auburn assistant football coach and observe Auburn spring football practice,drills and instruction.
Because of NCAA regulations, there will be a minimal charge for the clinic. The registration fee is $50.00 per person. CASH OR CHECK ONLY (NO ATM AVAILABLE ON-SITE). We encourage you to pre-register by sending your application and check made payable to the Auburn Coaching Clinic by April 5, 2010.Registration will be held at the Auburn Athletic Complex located on the corner of Samford and Donahue. All sessions of the clinic will be held at theBeard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum on the Auburn University campus.
