Welcome to our 2010 Horse Show Series As 2010 starts of a lot of wonderful things have taken place recently. Most of you are aware that we were selected as the venue for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto. Your support of our efforts is greatly appreciated. Over the next few years you will see many amazing changes and improvements to the Caledon Equestrian Park. It is truly an exciting opportunity for the horse peo-ple of Ontario. On top of everything else our success of hosting and the results achieved at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games gave all Canadians a great reason to be incredibly proud. Our Elite Athletes seem to have started the season where they left off last year. The Nations Cup Victory is a great step on their road to success at the upcoming World Equestrian Games later this year. We wish them the best of luck. Thanks to all of the great support from you the inaugural Canadian Show Jumping Tournament was a huge success last fall. We raised and donated in excess of $40,000 to the Children’s Wish Charity. I have no doubt it will be put to great use. A major component of this contribution came from the horse community. You should be very proud of the effort you made. Plans are well underway to even do better in 2010. We have also been selected to host the 2010 finals for the Jump Canada Young Horse Program. This is a great series with an impressive amount of prize money being offered. For many 2009 was a difficult year. We appreciate the support you provided us in tough economic times and we hope that the recent recovery will permit you to enjoy your horses even more this year. New this year is the addition of a 3’3” hunter division for junior and amateur riders. We think that many of you will be able to take advantage of this new section. It is hoped that it will fill a gap that had previously existed. Our discounted stall rate for circuit stalls proved to work very well and we trust many of you will take advantage of the program as it continues this year. We have made every effort to contain our costs and it is reflected in very few small changes to our fees. We appreciate your support and hope that you continue to enjoy showing at the Caledon Equestrian Park. Let us know how we can be of assistance. Craig

Equine Canada Statement of Principles

Equine Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction.

EC is committed to: • Upholding the welfare of the horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities; • Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment; • Ensuring that owners, trainers and exhibitors or their agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose; • Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure; • Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare; • Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization’s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition; • Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses.

The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training

and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane.

Any horse entered in any class at an EC Sanctioned Competition may, while on competition grounds be selected for equine medication control testing.
