We were excited to welcome our second class of medical students in August, 2010. Working with the Class of 2013 has been smulang and rewarding, and we look forward to the same with the Class of 2014.

Our collecons are mostly electronic (100% journals; 85% books), and the library space is study-ready. This offers the greatest effecveness for responding to the quick evoluon-ary pace of our new medical school.

Currently, the Medical Library is preparing for Period 3 beginning in April, 2011 by augmenng the clinical E-book study collecon and database subscripons. In response to demand, we are also pumping up United States Medical Licensing Examinaon (USMLE) resources Examinaon (USMLE) resources with the USMLEasy database and with addional print manuals.

In April 2010, the Medical Library was awared the Express Digizaon Grant from the Southeastern/Atlanc region of Naonal Network of Libraries of Medicine. The $4,832 award will enable the College’s Medical Library to digize archival materials related to the founding of the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Digizaon is expected to make it easier for more people to access and view these materials. The project will connue unl April 2011 and all digized materials will be placed in the Digital Commons repository of Florida Internaonal University for public access. Bohyun Kim, Digital Access Librarian, is the principal inves-gator for the project.

Bohyun Kim, Digital Access Librarian, published the arcle, “Organizaonal and Social Factors in the Adopon of Intranet 2.0: A Case Study” in Journal of Web Librarianship 4(2/3), a peer-reviewed library and informaon science journal. She also gave a presentaon “Planning for Your Library’s First Mobile Website” in Handheld Librarian Online Conference III on July 29, 2010.
