  • In loving memory of Sheryl Auringer The Men of Oklahoma calendar started in 2004 as a fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer. The idea blossomed from the minds of two sisters, Cris Shutt and Linda Crooks, and Lindas husband Steve, inspired by the courage of their close friend, Sheryl Auringer, in her fight against breast cancer.

Sadly, Sheryl lost her battle in January of 2009 at 52 years old. The 2010 Men of Oklahoma Calendar is dedicated to the memory of her spirit, courage and the love she gave to everyone she touched. Sheryl was diagnosed in March of 2004 and she always kept a positive outlook; even as her disease progressed Never missing a day of work unless she was in treatment, exemplified her strength and bravery. Sheryl was this projects biggest supporter, going to womens groups to share her story and sell calendars! She was an inspiration to her family and friends. In fact many of them are featured in the calendars over the years.

Each year, corporate sponsorship is raised to cover all production costs. One hundred percent of calendar sales benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Having raised almost $55,000.00 to support breast cancer research and treatment since its inception, the Men of Oklahoma Calendar is now one of the largest fundraisers for the Central Oklahoma Affiliate Susan G. Komen for the Cure. This calendar project blessed Sheryls life and will continue as her legacy.

There is something special about Girl Scout Brownie Troop #232 and their leaders, Andrea Marler and Leslee Boswell. Along with working to build confidence and character, these girls are committed to helping in the

fight against breast cancer. The troops, who range in age from seven to eight, became devoted to breast cancer awareness when one members mother, Heidi Long, was diagnosed almost two years ago.

Together, the girls worked to raise $500 for breast cancer awareness and are sill working to fight for the cure today.
