About the ESPNRISE NHSI

Format

Dates & Television Coverage

The National High School Invitational (NHSI) is the premiere post-season tournament for boys and girls high school basketball teams. In April 2009, the inaugural NHSI featured the top teams in the country including a standing-room-only final match-up of the top two teams in the nation (#1 Oak Hill vs. #2 Findlay Prep). The 2010 NHSI event will see another star-studded field and top-notch High School Basketball action.

Selection Process

Participating Teams

The inaugural event was held in North Bethesda, Maryland. Over 10,000 fansattended the three day event. All ten tournament games were televised live acrossESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.

In addition the event received major media coverage via ESPN, Sports Illustrated, USAToday and the Washington Post among others.

#1 Oak Hill Academy (VA) was defeated by #2 Findlay Prep (NV) 74-66 in the Boys’Championship game broadcasted on ESPN. In a thrilling final minute, #2 seed SetonKeough (MD) defeated #1 seed Riverdale Baptist (MD) 44-42 on ESPN2 in the Girls’Championship Game.

Teams will be chosen for the NHSI by the ESPN RISE Selection Committee on the basison a variety of factors including final ESPN RISE FAB 50 rankings.
