No mundo todo, espera-se que 2010 seja um ponto de transição. No zodíaco Chinês, 2010 é o Ano do Tigre, seguindo o ano da Vaca (uns falam que é do Touro, outros que é da Vaca Lunar).

Throughout the world, 2010 is expected to be a turning point. In the Chinese zodiac, 2010 is the Year of the Tiger, following the year of the Cow.

O Tigre simboliza a força guerreira, o ímpeto realizador, coragem e ousadia, força e potência – enfim, tudo que nos corresponde.

The Tiger symbolizes warrior strength, accomplishment, courage and boldness, strength and power – all that we love and embrace.

Não se deve esquecer, no entanto, que 2010 é também o Ano Internacional da Biodiversidade, declarado assim pelas Nações Unidas. Entre as espécies ameaçadas está o Tigre. De acordo com notícias recentes, existem menos de 5000 indivíduos no mundo, e em 20 anos, o poderoso Tigre poderá estar extinto.

It must not be forgotten, though, that 2010 is also the International Year of Biodiversity, as declared by the United Nations. Among the endangered species is the Tiger. According to recent news, there are less than 5000 individuals in the World and in 20 years, the mighty Tiger could be extinct.

2009 foi o ano Chines da Vaca. A Vaca simboliza a labuta dura e determinação, trabalho sob adversidade e resistência.

2009 was the Chinese Year of the Cow. The Cow symbolizes arduous labor and determination, working under hardship and resilience.

Organizações ambientais declararam 2009 como o ano do Tubarão e o Ano do Gorila. Ambos podem parecer adversários poderosos e imbatíveis. No entanto, ambos estão ameaçados também.

Environmental organizations also claimed it the year of the Shark and the Year of the Gorilla. Both may appear powerful and unbeatable adversaries. Yet, both are endangered as well.

Nenhum ano é fácil para o Guerreiro – aquele em cujas veias corre a Honra e a Coragem, e que tem no coração a Força. Mas há um tempo para tudo: tempo para semear e tempo para colher. Tempo para forjar as espadas, e tempo para cortar.

No year is easy for the Warrior – he, who has Honor and Courage running in his veins, and Strength in his heart. But there is a time for everything: a time to seed and a time to reap. A time to forge swords and a time to cut.

Há também um tempo para fazer contato. Um tempo para juntar forças e reunir. Para tornar-se Um com a Força, com sua Força, ou o que quer que você a chame. É o tempo entre a semeadura e a colheita. Um tempo para afiar lâminas e consertar armaduras. Um tempo para fazer as pazes com sua missão. Esse é também um tempo para Gratidão.

There is also a time to make contact. A time to gather forces and re-unite. To become one with the Force, with your Strength, with whatever you call it. It is the time between seeding and harvest. A time to sharpen blades and mend armors. A time to make peace with our calling. This is also a time for Gratitude.

Esta é a época do ano quando agradeço a vocês, Irmãos e Irmãs em armas, companheiros guerreiros. Agradeço-os por me apoiar, por me empurrar para frente, por partilhar comigo, por me fazer rir, por me criticar quando preciso, por me amar quando mereço e simplesmente por existir. Eu agradeço a todos vocês por me proporcionar o maior de todos os tesouros: Significado.

This is the time of the year when I thank you, my Brothers and Sisters in Arms, my fellow Warriors. I thank you for supporting me, for pushing me, for sharing with me, for making me laugh, for criticizing me when I need, for loving me when I deserve and simply for existing. I thank you for providing me with the greatest of all treasures: Meaning.

Mesmo que sejamos um punhado de Tigres, não estamos extintos. Não será fácil, haverá perdas, mas lutaremos até o fim. Porque no fim, tudo que importa é que temos uns aos outros, e temos Significado. Temos uma razão nobre para aqui estar e lutar.

Even if we are a handful of Tigers, we are not extinct. It will not be easy, there will be losses but we will fight until the end. Because in the end, all that matters is that we have each other, and that we have Meaning. We have a noble reason to be here and fight.

Que 2010 seja o ano do Tigre para todos nós, membros do minúsculo, porém nobre e poderoso exército de guerreiros. Que seja o ano em que faremos contato, muito contato, uns com os outros, com nós mesmos e com o que há de elevado. Que seja o ano em que nossa labuta árdua do passado sustente o golpe certeiro do presente.

May 2010 be the Year of the Tiger for all of us, members of the tiny, yet noble and powerful army of Warriors. May it be the year that we make contact, a lot of contact, with each other, with ourselves and with whatever there is beyond. May it be the year when hard work done in the past will support our sword thrust in the battlefield.
