    MANUAL FOR PREPARATION OF SUMMER PROJECT REPORT

    1. GENERAL :

    The manual is intended to provide broad guidelines to the students in the preparation

    of the project report. In general, the project report shall include in an organised and

    scholarly fashion an account of original project work done by the students.

    2. NUMBER OF COPIES TO BE SUBMITTED:

    Students should submit one copy to the Administrative Office on or before the

    specified date.The Report should be bound in black with gold coloured embossing, matt finish.

    Students are advised to keep one bounded copy for themselves which the students will

    require during final placement.

    Students may need to submit one copy to the Company where they have undergone

    their Summer Placements.

    3. SIZE OF PROJECT REPORT:

    The size of project report should be in the range of 40-80 pages of typed matterreckoned from page # 1 beginning with Executive Summary. The emphasis is on

    Quality and Content and NOT on number of pages.

    4. PAGE DIMENSIONS AND MARGINS:

    The dimensions of the final bound copy of the project report should be in standard A4

    size. 80 gsm paper may be used for preparing the copies.

    The final copy of the project report (at the time of submission) should have the

    following page margins:

    Top edge : 3 cm to 3.5 cm (1.2 to 1.4)

    Bottom edge : 2.5 cm to 3 cm (1 to 1.2)

    Left side : 3. 5 cm to 4.0 cm (1.4 to 1.6)

    Right side : 2 cm to 2.5 cm (0.8 to 1)

    5. FONT SIZE AND SPACING:

    The report should be typed in Times New Roman, font size 12 in one and a half line

    spacing.

    The following pages show the sequencing for the Summer Project Report and

    guidelines / samples for the pages.

    GUIDELINES

    1) Use diagrams, charts, graphs, pictures, tables, etc. to make your ProjectReport of a better quality.

    2) Executive Summary:-

    Executive Summary should be of 1 to 2 pages which is the full gist of yourproject. After reading the Executive Summary, the reader should understandwhat you have said in the Report. The Executive Summary should alsocontain in brief, Objective, Methodology, Sample Design, Sample Size andMajor Findings.

    3) Sample and Sample Size:-

    Sample means the object of your Project Report, be it a Process, the Working

    of a Department, language of a project, etc. Sample specifies what you havestudied.

    For eg:In a Finance Project, a Sample may be The Project sample covers all the Companies in Telecom sector listed on theBombay Stock Exchange.

    In a Marketing Project, a Sample may be The Project studies Consumer buying behaviour while buying automobiles inMumbai City where the annual income of Consumers is more than

    Rs. 1 crore.

    4) Methodology:-

    In Methodology, the research design literature review library research, datacollection methods and methods of data analysis should be described. Beforebeginning with Methodology, the objective(s) should be clearly defined.

    5) Analysis and Findings:-

    Analysis and Findings will be covered from CHAPTER II onwards.

    Depending on the scope of your study, there can be multiple Chapters onAnalysis and Findings. However, if the scope of your Project is limited, thenthis may require only one Chapter.

    6) Conclusions and Recommendations:-

    The Conclusions or Inferences and Suggestions or Recommendations shouldbe explained properly point - wise rather than writing a single long text.

    7) Annexures:-

    Annexures should include Questionnaires, any documents collected from theCompany, any big tables which do not find place in the Chapters, etc.

    8) References and Bibliography:-

    Should include the list of all the sources of secondary data, internetresources, books, journals, periodicals, newspapers, conference proceedings,etc. which you have used. Wherever in the Report you are reproducing somematerial from the earlier published sources or using any information from suchsources, then at the end of the Chapter, proper references should be given.The cases of plagiarism will be dealt with strictly.

    NOTE:-

    Students whose Project is not a research based Project, should contact theirSummer Project Guide at the Institute for guidance on the format of theirreport.
