The purpose of this document is to issue Addendum No. 1 to the asbestos abatement and
building demolition of the Androscoggin Mill #8. The following Addendum No. 1 shall constitutean addendum to the Demolition and Asbestos Abatement Work Plan Androscoggin Mill BuildingNo. 8, Lewiston, Maineprepared by Summit Environmental Consultants, Inc. (Summit) datedMarch 14, 2011.
Bidders shall indicate receipt and acknowledgement of this addendum on Page BF-1
of t he Bid Form.
Bids will be opened publicly at the City of Lewiston offices (27 Pine Street, Lewiston) at 2:00P.M. on April 19, 2011.
ADDENDUM NO. 1
8.1 Measurem ent and Payment
Delete 8.1 Paragraph A and replace with the following:
A. The Base Bid will be lump sum. The lump sum cost will include furnishingnecessary labor, materials, equipment, disposal costs and permitting, etc. tocomplete the work as presented in the Work Plan. In the event that actualquantities of asbestos containing pipe insulation and breeching insulation differsgreater than 10 percent from quantities presented in the ACM survey byEnvironmental Safety & Hygiene Associates, Inc. (ESHA) dated December 3,2003, the Unit Prices #1 and/or #2 shall apply.

The base bid includes one (1) boiler. Should an additional boiler(s) be present,
Unit Price #3 will apply.
1. Unit Price No. 1 Removal and Disposal of ACM Pipe Insulation
Work under this Unit Price Item includes all costs associated with theremoval and disposal of ACM pipe insulation should the actual quantity ofpipe insulation be less than or greater than the estimated quantity of 170linear feet (+/- 10 percent) . The actual quantity shall be determinedfollowing completion of the limited structural demolition and prior toabatement. Payment for this unit price item shall be per linear foot of
pipe insulation and deducted or added to the base bid price.
2. Unit Price No. 2 Removal and Disposal of ACM Breeching Insulation
Work under this Unit Price Item includes all costs associated with theremoval and disposal of ACM breeching insulation should the actualquantity of breeching insulation be less than or greater than theestimated quantity of 1,700 linear feet (+/- 10 percent) . The actualquantity shall be determined following completion of the limited structuraldemolition and prior to abatement. Payment for this unit price item shall
be per square foot of breeching insulation and deducted or added to thebase bid price.
3. Unit Price No. 3 Removal and Disposal of Additional Boiler(s) includingACM Insulation
Work under this Unit Price Item includes all costs associated with theremoval and disposal of additional boiler (s) as associated ACMinsulation/construction materials. The actual number of boilers shall bedetermined following completion of the limited structural demolition andprior to abatement. Payment for this unit price item shall be each boiler
and added to the base bid price.Bid Form
1. Disregard the original Bid Form and utilize Bid Proposal Form Revision 1attached tothis Addendum.
2. The City requests unit pricing for abatement of additional asbestos containing materialsper unit beyond the stated quantities within the work plan. These items are detailed onthe revised bid form.

Figures
1. Disregard the original Figure 1 and utilize the revised Figure 1 attached to this addendum.The revised figure includes additional fence along the western edge to replace theunusable existing fence. This fencing should connect with the existing northern utilityfencing and extend to the tree line to maintain security for the duration of the project.
Section 4.2 Schedule
1. Replace date of Bids Due in Section C. with:Tuesday April 19, 2011
Section 9.10 Bidding1. Replace the first sentence of Section C. with the following sentence:
Two copies of the bid submittal package are due to the City by 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday,April 19, 2011.
