Unconventional wisdom. It comes with the territory if you’re in the right place – an environment where answers ask questions and insight is revealed through self discovery. It involves more than just listening to lectures and taking notes: it’s acquired through a holistic approach to learning that focuses on experiencing the whole, not just the parts. It originates from a place populated with thinkers, doers and creators. It’s something altogether uncommon, and something you’ll always find here.

What can you do with a Liberal Arts Education?

QUESTION

The next four years are destined to be some of the most exciting, most influential and most memorable you’ll ever experience. A liberal arts education means you won’t spend them just striving narrowly for a piece of paper that says “you did it.”

It means you’ll enjoy a low student-to-faculty ratio, small class sizes, personalized attention and copious opportunities for real world experience. It means you’ll emerge a well-rounded, open-minded, highly educated individual who isn’t just ready for the world—you’re ready to change it.

No one can predict what the market will do in the next five years. But judging by the last five, there’s only one thing we know is certain: change. That’s why we don’t simply prepare you for today’s business issues – we teach you to think critically, adapt, create, solve and teach others to do the same. Because these aren’t simply the skills you’ll need to get a diploma; they are the traits that tomorrow’s leaders will need to run their own business, too.

if you are interested in running a business and not just majoring in it.

Stephens College of BusinessPreparing ethical and enterprising individuals for great return on investment. The Stephens College of Business is one of the state’s few AACSB International-accredited institutions, as well as its fastest growing MBA program.

College Night is the oldest college homecoming tradition of its kind in the U.S., and a beloved part of the Montevallo experience. But we’re not the only ones who think it’s extraordinary: College Night has twice been featured as an answer on Jeopardy!®, and has its own permanent exhibit in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. You just need to ask yourself one question beforehand: are you a Purple, or are you a Gold?

get ready for a traditionthat’s anything buttraditional.

NATIONAL HISTORIC DISTRICT

Some of the most significant and formative times of your college career actually take place outside of the classroom. The sharing of experiences, the exchange of ideas, the gaining of perspectives and the forging of bonds – with some people like yourself, and some who couldn’t be more different.

Inspiration is the soul of great ideas. Whether in business, art or science, it’s the spark of creativity that emboldens the thinking that can change the world. It thrives in an environment that questions the status quo and teaches learning as a lifetime pursuit. It encourages individuality over conformity, and self discovery through community. It’s anything but conventional and everything you’re looking for.
