Second Saturdays at Seven July Second Saturday:

    LEX AND JOE JULY 9, 2011 - 7 PM

York Art Association to Host Lex and Joe:

    “Swing Is Their Thing”

After a very successful debut of York Art Association’s Second Saturdays summer 2011 series in June -- York Art Association is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the musical group Lex and Joe on July 9th at 7:00 p.m. Lex and Joe have been performing together for thirty years. Their shared interest in the swing music of the 1930s and 1940s led them to pair up. Thirty years later they are still wowing audiences with their expansive repertoire of swing, rhythm and blues, and jazz.

Lex Romane plays guitar, and his vocals are reflective of artistic influences such as Muddy Waters, Van Morrison, and Leon Redbone. Joe Riillo --- the other half of this dynamic duo -- trained as a classical clarinetist, and transitioned into saxophone after being introduced to rhythm and blues, and jazz. Riillo continues to play the clarinet, and also plays the flute.

Lex and Joe plan to play a mix of songs and styles of music for the York Art Association crowd. Even though “swing is their thing” they will be performing jazz, and blues tunes in addition to swing.

This performance is part of the second annual Second Saturdays at Seven summer series hosted by YAA. The event is free and open to the public. Warning: Arrive early to make sure you get a seat. June’s Second Saturdays performers played and performed to a full house.

    Save the Date:

Next Second Saturday at Seven, August 13th.
