Message from the Leadership Team

As we venture into a new year BDPA Charlotte has a renewed commitment to helping technical professionals advance in their careers. For 2011, we are committed to delivering educational and professional development programming that support our members and the African American community-at large.

We personally want to thank you for the opportunity partner with MetroTek Charlotte as the premier venue for BDPA Charlotte. As a technical professional organization, we are 53+ professional members strong in Charlotte. We look forward to opportunities to partner with Businesses, Schools, Non-Profits and other professional organizations. We want and need continued support and encourage everyone to actively participate in our planning and programming.

Together, we can and will leverage the collective voice of the Charlotte Chapter!

We have strong alliance partners including the local chapters of: Information Technology Senior Management Forum (ITSMF), National Society of Black Engineers, and the Urban League.

These relationships are aligned with our strategic goals help increase the Chapter visibility in community-based activities, expand each of our member’s professional network and partnerships, and better leverage our professional image and brand.

We are entering our 23rd year of helping to expand the minority technical talent pool through community service. Our Student Information Technology Education and Scholarship (SITES) Program and High School Computer Competitions continue to be successful. This is where our members add value back into the community by volunteering to teach and mentor College Students (SITES) and Charlotte high school students (HSCC).

Going forward the chapter will execute a broad range of activities to meet needs of our professional membership. This will include: educational service programs, technical certification boot-camps and executive development networking opportunities for our professional audience. We realize that like most non-profit organizations, a critical focus will be expanding the professional expertise of our members by leveraging the combined support of Corporate Partners and our professional audience.

By joining forces with Charlotte BDPA, our Corporate Partners have a solid value proposition by working with the Chapter. We are the ‘Number One Source of African American Technical Human Capital in the Charlotte Area.’ Our partners can look to us as a source for technical talent. Our members are leaders in their companies and communities. Throughout the year we propose several activities that enable introductions between our members, the community and Corporate Partners.

Our leadership team is poised to move forward with new measurable goals for increasing membership and partnership priorities in 2011. A focused financial management and investment plan will drive our success. Like many other organizations in the Charlotte market, we remain judicious and creative in look for operational and scholarship funds. We also continue to focus being on cost-conscious in developing relevant, quality programming for the membership.
