Welcome to the 21st Annual South Carolina Environmental Conference

“Protecting Our Communities, Protecting Our Environment”

This year’s theme for the 21st edition of the South Carolina Environmental Conference is “Protecting Our Communities, Protecting Our Environment”. As Water Professionals, we provide the first and last line of defense when it comes to providing safe drinking water and protecting our wonderful environment. Through our work, we insure that our neighbors are protected from waterborne diseases and that our wildlife and plant life is protected; we provide the essential conditions that allow the high standard of living that we enjoy each day; and we provide the basis for the economic engine of this country through potable water and wastewater handling. Water Professionals truly are the unsung heroes that quietly serve our neighbors, our communities, our state and our country.

This year’s conference is another great opportunity to share knowledge with our fellow Water Professionals; an opportunity to learn new and exciting technology through our exhibitors’ displays and presentations (a new feature this year); and to renew old friendships and make new acquaintances. With over 150 technical sessions on a wide variety of water, wastewater and stormwater topics, there will be something for everyone and an opportunity to explore areas both in and outside your specialty and current role.

Water Professionals are truly the life blood of our communities. Join us at this great conference as we celebrate our successes and renew our commitment to face future challenges.

See you at the Beach!

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS SOCIAL

Monday, March 14, 2011 4:45 - 5:30 pm • Exhibit Hall Classroom

The SCAWWA & WEASC Young Professionals Committees invite all young professionals to attend a drop-in social at SCEC.

Young Professionals (YP’s) are defined as members or prospective members under 35 years of age or with less than 10 years experience in the water resources industry.

Take advantage of this valuable networking opportunity to meet other young professionals in the industry... and some “seasoned professionals” as well!

Jeff Allen combines clean, hilarious humor with inspiration like no

other comedian working today. He performs on

television and radio, in night clubs and large churches, and as a keynote speaker for corporations. Jeff has released more than 10

books and CD/DVD’s, appeared on Comedy

Central, Showtime, HBO’s US Comedy Arts Festival, and

was the featured performer at President George W. Bush’s inauguration.

Jeff Allen is one of the few comedians who can “kill ‘em” at a casino in Vegas and then bring down the house at the Baptist Youth Missionary Board... doing the exact same act. As Jerry Seinfeld said, “Funny is funny. Clean humor, if it’s good, works anywhere.”

Join us for an evening of fun, laughter and inspiration as Jeff Allen treats us to his humor and life’s lessons at the SCEC Grand Finale!

and pioneered the first-ever large scale Food Waste-to-Energy Project at a

U.S. wastewater treatment plant, winning U.S. EPA Region 9’s 2006 Environmental

Achievement Award.

A member of the Water Environment Federation since 1997, Ed has served on the Federation’s House of Delegates and as Chair and Vice-Chair of the WEF Utility Management Committee, as well as Vice Chair of the Long Range Planning Committee.
