Greetings from the Regional Antapokritis
My Dear Blue and White Family,
I am honored by the opportunity to serve our sister-
hood as your South Central Regional Antapokritis.
Thank you to those that took the time to share their
accounts of Scholarship, Service, Sisterly Love, and
Finer Womanhood within their respective chapters
and in their local communities. One only has to take
a glimpse inside to see the sense of pride that we
show as we are “Speaking of Zeta”!
I am humbled that our Regional Director, Dr. Constance Hendricks, has cho-
sen to appoint me to serve in this capacity. I am grateful for her leadership,
direction, and devotion to the South Central Region.
I hope that, as you read through each page, you are encouraged and inspired
to continue to build upon the rich legacy that our great founders began over
91 years ago. Continue Speaking of Zeta in all that you do!
Sisterly yours,

Synergy
The common vision for the members of Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter is to contribute
and have a positive impact within our community. We believe that by investing
in the community we can help create an improved environment for everyone.
We work hard, think creatively, cooperate freely and act with integrity. We
have learned to look beyond the obvious and see insightfully to be successful in
our endeavors.
The chapter members have learned that working together is the key to having a
successful chapter. When the chapter works together it works more efficiently.
More things can get done faster when working together. As you read about this
chapter you will read about the ‘Synergy’ that exists amongst the members.
Synergy is defined as the interaction of two or more agents or forces so that
their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual.
Feeding the Homeless
Alpha Mu Zeta teamed with the board of di-
rectors of the Sickle Cell Foundation to feed
the homeless for Thanksgiving. The Black
Chef’s Association prepared all of the food and
sorors along with their family members served
the homeless. Donations of Coats, Scarves
and gloves were available also. For people
who ate at the shelter entertainment was pro-
vided. Sack lunches were provided for people
who did not want to stay and eat.
Race for the Cure
Several members of Alpha Mu Zeta Chapter participate in the Komen Race for
the cure along with over 30,000 other women in downtown Little Rock and
North Little Rock, Arkansas. We also participated in other events that were de-
signed to promote positive awareness, education and early detection of breast
cancer.
Thanksgiving Baskets
The members of Alpha Mu Zeta sup-
plied goods to make baskets for two
needy families. The baskets con-
tained a full course meal with both a
turkey and a ham for the families.

Zeta – Sigma Christmas Party
Each year the chapter participates in a joint Christmas Party with the chapters
in Central Arkansas. To enter the party everyone is encouraged to purchase a
toy to be donated ‘Toys for Tots’. This year a monetary donation was given
to the Watershed Human and Community Development Agency Inc. Water-
shed is a non-profit organization that gives assistance to people/families that
are less fortunate and need assistance.
Arkansas State Leadership Conference
Two Alpha Mu Zeta chapter members attended the Arkansas Leadership Con-
ference in March. In addition to taking care of business, by attending the
conference the sorors heard how to in-
spire, influence, and innovate Zetas to
greatness by joining in discussions on
talent and leadership strategies to re-
cruit top people, and gained insight on
how to take the chapter to the next level
of Zetadom.
At the conference the chapter donated
to the Back-Packs for the Homeless pro-
gram. This program supplies students
who are displaced from their homes with
school supplies and snacks for students
at times when other resources are not
available.
Getting ‘Fit for Life”
Because African American women have a great risk of Heart Disease, Alpha
Mu Zeta has teamed with the Carousel Fit for Life Wellness center to combat
heart disease. The center offers wellness seminars, health fairs, and physical
activity which are crucial for good health, including heart health.
This partnership has resulted in Sorors attending the fitness center, partici-
pating in and sponsoring workshops on wellness, participating in a walk club
and joining the million pound weight loss plan.
Walks
Alpha Mu Zeta Sorors participated in and
donated funds to the American Diabetes
Association Walk. They also walked in the
March of Dimes Walk America. Sorors also
participated in Little Rock in the Little Rock
25 Mile Marathon.

program is designed to develop leadership skills, encourage unity, and pro-
mote community service and academic excellence in young women through
mentorship and life training skills.
This program offers a wide range of social, personal, career and educational
enrichment opportunities for the high school seniors. Activities consist of

Eta Sigma Zeta—North Little Rock, AR
The ladies of Eta Sigma Zeta have had a very busy sorority year. We ended the
2009/2010 year serving as host for the well-attended, well-planned and won-
derful 81st
Regional Conference in Little Rock, AR. We had barely caught our
breath, when our leadership team under the direction of our new Basileus,
Kathy Tatum, hosted our annual summer Zeta Round-Up. The Hawaiian Luau
theme attracted many of our sorors, whose zeta light had been a little dim the
past year. In September we hit the ground running helping our undergrad
chapter – Gamma Eta of the Univ. of Central Arkansas in Conway, plan their 35th
anniversary celebration. In October along with our youth and amicae we com-
pleted several ZHOPE projects: Z Pack It Up (donated backpacks filled with
school supplies to a local elementary school), Personal hygiene kits donated to
Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
During the winter, we did not let the cold weather deter us; we kept the Zeta
flame burning brightly: we participated in Prematurity Awareness Sunday, sev-
eral sorors attended the State sponsored Zeta Academy, this is an embellish-
ment/training day, for the sorors of Arkansas, and our reigning Miss Blue Revue
along with our amicae and youth were participants in the NLR Annual Christmas
Parade. Our annual Christmas fellowship with our brothers of Phi Beta Sigma
once again allowed us to strengthen our bond. In the true spirit of the season
we donated along with our Sigma brothers toys to the Watershed Organization.
Not only did we donate our finances, we also gave of our time and energy by
volunteering to help in the shelter packing food boxes for those families who
were in need.
14
15
With spring fast approaching, we began planning for our major fundraiser,
Miss Blue Revue. This pageant spotlight young ladies kindergarten through
Junior High. The money raised allows our chapter to award scholarships to
deserving high school seniors who will be attending an Arkansas college in
the fall. But before the girls could take the runway, we had a few more pro-
jects to complete. We participated in our annual joint Founder’s Day cele-
bration with our brothers of Phi Beta Sigma and the other local Zeta chap-
ters. We also celebrated Finer Womanhood with a wonderful awards pro-
gram. Several sorors were recognized for their longevity and productive
service to the chapter as well as the community.
Spring has sprung and the sorors have laced up their blue sneakers for the
Relay for Life, the March of Dimes March for Babies and the American Heart
Association Walkathon. Several sorors along with our amicae traveled to
Pine Bluff for our annual State Leadership Conference. We donated two
backpacks filled with personal hygiene items that were to be given to a local
organization that work with the homeless, this project was the State’s
ZHOPE initiative.
As this sorority year comes to an end, we will close as always on a high note
with our annual Miss Blue Revue Scholarship Pageant. This year we have six
beautiful and intelligent young ladies vying for the coveted title of Miss Blue
Revue 2010. As the curtains close on the pageant, the sorors will begin mak-
ing plans for the 2011 Regional Conference and preparing for another year
to try and make their community a better place.

The Memphis Zetas have been busy this year! We began with outstanding Leader-
ship Conferences. In July, ten members of Alpha Eta Zeta traveled to Dallas, TX for
our 2010 Boule of Sisterly Love. During the awards presentations, AHZ received the
2010 Census Award, which it is the first of its kind. Kudos is also in order to Soror
Cynthia Elliott on being recognized as the National Census Chair. The chapter also
received second place for Z-HOPE points in the largest chapter size category. Soror
Sadie Wiley was inducted into the inaugural Zeta Doves, an honor of distinction for
members with over 50 years in the sisterhood.
Our first sisterly event of the year was our Inaugural BLUAU! It was an opportunity
for Sorors, Amicae, and even ladies interested in Zeta to come and fellowship. This
was a great chance for everyone to come together and celebrate the beginning of a
new sorority year. A good time was had by all I attendance, plans are underway for
the 2011 event.

We kicked off the business of Zeta with all of the Memphis Zeta Chapters (Alpha
Eta Zeta, Pi Alpha, Rho Gamma and Alpha Mu) joining together for our annual Sis-
terhood Summit. The event was held on the campus of Christian Brothers Univer-
sity with all of the chapters participating in various sessions. Workshops of the
day included Parliamentary Procedure, Zeta Etiquette and Financial Planning, just
to name a few. Our State Director, Soror Ernestine Wilson joined us and provided
MIP and Chapter Management training. It was a wonderful time to fellowship
with newly reclaimed Sorors and bond with the young women of our undergradu-
ate chapters.
This year Memphis Zetas also participated in the Orange Mound Southern Heri-
tage Classic Parade. It was a wonderful experience and we are anxious to return
and showcase Zeta again next year! After the parade we traveled to the Liberty
bowl for our Annual Blue & White Tailgate that we co-host annually with the Tau
Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma. It was a great opportunity Sigma Memphis
and Memphis Zetas to come together as “Sigma Memphis Zetas” and provide hos-
pitality for visiting Sorors and Frat that travel to the city to enjoy the Southern
Heritage Classic festivities.
In October, the chapter traveled to Jackson, TN for our State Leadership Confer-
ence where Soror Sherrie Lyons represented the chapter in the 2nd
Annual Ms.
Tennessee Zeta Pageant. Soror Donna R. Williams received the highest honor pre-
sented to a Zeta in the state, as the recipient of the Arizona Cleaver Stemons
Award, for her diligent service to Zeta and the state over the years. AHZ and our
Archonettes received an award for having the largest registered delegation at the
conference. The chapter was also awarded First place for Z-H.O.P.E in our chapter
size category.

This fall has presented an opportunity of growth for our chapter as we welcomed
seven new members to our beloved sisterhood. The legacy continues with Letiticia
Jackson, Jasmine Walters, Hope Shields, Jenette Edmonds, Lamonica Wright, Tonya
Bernard and LaRuth Lofties. We are so very happy to have them in Zeta, and we
anticipate great things from these women.
We are so proud of our chapter and all of the sorors that have worked so hard to
make it a success!
One of things that this chapter strives hard to excel at is community service in and
around the city of Memphis. A partnership was formed with the Department of Chil-
dren Services this year, as Alpha Eta Zeta co-hosted a Teen Youth Conference for
children currently in state custody. Soror Adrienne Hughes and Brother Darryl
Anderson presented and Etiquette Workshop and Sorors Jamie Dunlap and Camille
Crawford provided team builders to the youth.

and it was a great success. We were also able to reach out to children in the com-
munity that were gearing up for the upcoming school year. Our donations of
school supplies went a long way and we were able to help get many students on
the right foot to start off their year! Alpha Eta Zeta also participated in the Making
Strides for Breast Cancer Walk and the Sickle Cell Walk.
Alpha Eta Zeta also supported Tau Iota Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity,
Inc., as they celebrated their 75th
Anniversary. The chapter held a Gala for this
momentous occasion. This night served as a celebration and historical lesson for
all in attendance, as we learned how the city of Memphis has impacted the Phi

Alpha Eta Zeta was honored with being nominated for the first Agent of Change Tal-
ented Tenth Award presented by the Memphis Urban League Young Profession-
als. We are proud to report that as a result of our hard work and dedication to the
Memphis Community that Zeta Phi Beta, Alpha Eta Zeta Chapter walked away with
the award. We could not be prouder of this achievement because it is showing the
founding principles of our dear organization hard at work.
Alpha Eta Zeta kicked off 2011 with quite an Astounding start! January is always
eventful since it marks the Founders’ Day activities for the Memphis Zetas. We
started off the week by supporting the Brothers of Phi Beta Sigma by attending a
bowling party to celebrate their Founders’ Day. After that, the week of activities
was in full swing! On Friday, a few members of the chapter met Soror Mary B.
Wright, National First Vice President, at the airport to welcome our guest speaker to
our great city! The welcome wagon made posters and a banner and erupted into
cheers when our National Officer arrived with her husband at the airport.

The Founders’ Day program was flawless and the attendees gushed over what a
dynamic speaker Soror Wright was. She received a standing ovation at the end of
her speech and it was a pleasure to have her. At the program, the chapter also
recognizes our Zeta of the Year. This year the honor went to Soror Audrey John-
son who serves as the Third Vice President for Alpha Eta Zeta. The Brothers of Phi
Beta Sigma also honor a Soror with the Sisterhood Award for her time and dedica-
tion to the Brothers of Tau Iota Sigma. This year’s recipient was Soror Delcenia
Pegues, Archonette Advisor. A reception followed the program, and then every-
one went to Half Shell restaurant to unwind after a long, busy day.
The Sunday evening after Founders’ Day, Brother Larry Stapleton opened his home
to Sorors and Frat to have a house party. Lots of members of the Blue and White
family gathered to fellowship and celebrate a successful week of activities. Sorors
held candles and reflected on what it means to be a Zeta and how it has helped us
grow in the Sisterhood.

Our week of Founders’ Day events is never complete until we get a chance to walk in
the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Freedom March. It is a parade through downtown
Memphis where we celebrate and honor the life of Dr. King. Youth groups, Under-
graduates, Zetas and Sigmas all gathered together to show a unified front at the
march. It was a chilly, rainy day, but our Zeal for Zeta still shined bright. A local
news crew was even able to get a quick interview with Soror Wright on the meaning
behind the day! We were able to fellowship with Soror Wright for one final time
before her departure. Everyone met at Alfred’s on Beale Street to enjoy a quick
lunch after the walk. It was the perfect ending to a perfect week.
The first Alpha Eta Zeta ACT workshop was organized by the Alpha Eta Zeta- DOVE
Foundation, Inc. The workshop was an opportunity for children of all ages. The pro-
gram was an overwhelming success and was host to over 70+ students from schools
all around Memphis and Shelby Country. The workshop focused on English, Math
and Science and all students were provided with snacks and refreshments through-
out the day. Great work by all the presenters and organizers of the event! The work-
shop was a great success and will become a signature activity for the Foundation.
January came to a close, but that doesn’t mean that it is time for a break! Finer
Womanhood Month was among us and it was time to get sorors to re-ignite their
flame for Zeta!

We began by having Sisterhood Sunday at Greer Chapel AME Church. Sorors were
able to come and worship together and start the month off on a spiritual note.
But we had to make sure that we were working out more than just our spirit. This
year we instituted Work it Out Wednesdays (W.O.W). Each Wednesday Sorors
met up at a local mall to walk around to get some physical activity. It was a great
opportunity to work out, fellowship, and also get Zeta out in the public. One
week, the Alpha Eta Zeta- DOVE Foundation partnered with a local organization
that is raising awareness for Domestic Violence. Instead of walking on Wednes-
day, everyone got together on a Saturday morning and collected items that could
be used in shelters. We also committed to continuing to support their monthly
walks at the Oak Court Mall.

plemented study hours for our chapter members to ensure we all spent an adequate
amount of time focusing on our schoolwork. With the help of our newest members,
we have a number of creative and strategic programs we plan on implementing next
school year. We hope to execute all of our plans in the best interest of TTU’s student
body wile upholding Zeta’s principles.

The Rho Alpha Zeta Chapter has been hard at work planning for a successful year.
We began our year by participating in some of our annual community service events.
On September 18, 2010, The Rho Alpha Zeta collaborated with the Nashville chapter
of the Sisters Network® Incorporated to promote breast cancer and breast health
awareness in the African American community. The program allowed breast cancer
survivors to collaborate with volunteers and canvas door-to-door in the African
American community to distribute breast health education brochures, resource in-
formation, and pink ribbons. Volunteers invited residents to a health fair at the
event site to enjoy refreshments and learn more about the health resources and
services.
The Sorors of Rho Alpha Zeta Chapter then participated in the Nashville Cares AIDS
Walk at the Bi-Centennial Mall, Nashville TN on October 2, 2010.
The Nashville Cares AIDS Walk promotes AIDS awareness and raises funds for Nash-
ville Cares. Nashville Cares is the oldest and largest non-profit organization in Ten-
nessee and it is Middle-Tennessee’s leading provider of AIDS prevention and care
services. The team’s goal was to have ten participants in the 3.1-mile walk route
walk and to raise $500.00. The Rho Alpha Zeta team consisted of nine graduate
members and raised $620.00 for Nashville Cares.

play and the instruction of simple steps. The participants performed in front of
peers; thus building self-esteem while providing a light cardiovascular workout.

Friday, The Phi-nezt Album Release Week” from March 20-26th
. We held a March of
Dimes table, where donations were collected, and those donations will be matched
dollar for dollar by our chapter. Community service wise, we tutored at the Boys and
Girls Club.
The Resplendent Rho Gamma Chapter is proud to

Sigma Chi Zeta—Murfreesboro, TN
The Sigma Chi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated in Murfrees-
boro, TN has had an exciting 2010-2011 sororal year! We are so proud to repre-
sent Tennessee and the South Central Region in all we do. Last September, we
supported the 2011 Walk for Lupus Now event at Centennial Park to raise aware-
ness of Lupus Disease. Our chapter members assist the Lupus Disease Foundation
in planning and implementation of this event and the organization often calls on
us to support their efforts. The following month, Sigma Chi Zeta sorors attended
the Tennessee State Leadership Conference in Jackson where we have two chap-
ter sorors who serve on state level positions. We were able to return home with a
renewed freshness of what we can do to continue to make Zeta light in our com-
munity. Each November, we support the sorority’s prematurity awareness initia-
tive for March of Dimes and collected loose change to donate to CoinStar. We sent
press releases to our local papers as well as held informational presentations in
our religious institution & church bulletins. Our chapter has been so blessed this
year. It was laid on our hearts to gather food items in a Thanksgiving basket to
present to a family in need. Our Sorors gathered in unison for fun and fellowship
in our annual Christmas party & gift exchange. It’s all for a cause though, because
while we enjoyed one another - we wrapped clothing and gifts for a mother and
her children that we adopted during the season. Earlier that day, we volunteered
at Toys for Tots and distributed toys and assisted with escorting parents and regis-
tration inquiries. Our chapter created the vision and partnered in the inaugural
Middle Tennessee Founders’ Day Celebration held at the Smyrna Town Center. We
fellowshipped over brunch with over 100 sorors who wore their Sunday’s best,
received a great word from the speaker and honored our Five Pearls. The Finer
Women of Rutherford County Awards Banquet was a great success. We honored
3 deserving women who are selected as unsung heroines in the Murfreesboro
Community. The guest speaker touched our hearts & we enjoyed supporting these
ladies for the work they do each day. Soror Brandi Osborne, Basileus, was awarded
Zeta of the Year.

We learned tons of information on the physical and emotional effects of stress dur-
ing our Stress in the Workplace Seminar held at Patterson Community Center. Our
sorors who are professionals in health and human resources chimed in and shared
their expertise on the matter. During the Shannon Martin Memorial Scholarship Soul
Food Cookoff & Silent Auction, we had a wonderful turnout to honor our fallen dove
Shannon, who was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. Several attendees in the
community submitted food items for the judges to score. After an inspiring word
from the guest speaker, we fellowshipped over the refreshments. Above all, we
were able to award Shannon’s son Rian, & another deserving student, the scholar-
ship funds we were able to raise. The attendees bidded on items in the silent auction
and we awarded prizes to the top cooks in each category. We had a great atten-
dance in the March of Dimes Walk America event in May. This a time we can all
come together, lace up our shoes to walk and raise awareness of premature births.
This event is extremely special to our chapter as two of our own members were af-
fected by the effects of premature births. We resolve to do all we can to welcome
healthy babies! The Sigma Chi Zeta chapter continues to be a force in the Rutherford
County community. Our aim is to enjoy & support each other and to WORK HARD
but SERVE HARDER!
