“My First Grade class is cheering for the LA Kings in fun ways. Students are connecting their passion of the Kings to their math skills by making a bar graph of team wins after the playoff games… They follow the Kings playoff journey in the sports section of the newspaper, reading about how the players are working as a team to get closer to the Stanley Cup. Students practice self-control (just like their favorite Kings players do during games) to have the privilege of wearing our Kings crown during the school day.”

“We’ve been keeping a tally chart of wins, losses, and goals scored. We’ve been counting down to 16 wins. We’ve posted posters all over the classroom…We’ve written letters and sent in “Good Luck” posters. Lastly, we celebrate each new round with a “Puck Party”----which includes: 1. dressing in Kings colors, playing hockey…at PE, and eating “Pucks” (aka. Ding Dongs). One more thing, we wore our “beards” proudly when we went home today.”
