    Last Time Out

College of Saint MaryCollege of Saint Mary had been struggling to score goals the past couple weeks. On Tuesday afternoon, the Flames offensive found their shooting touch. CSM defeated William Penn University 7-1. CSM used six first half goals to put the game out of reach. Christa Manning (FR, Papillion, Neb.) gave the lead to CSM in the 14th minute off a cross from Caitlin Parra (JR, Bellevue, Neb.) and Abby Schlater (JR, Council Bluffs, Iowa). Manning added her second of the day in 20th minute as she buried home a shot off a pass from Taylor Ainsworth (FR, Columbus, Neb.) and Abby Zach (SO, Gering, Neb.). Zach got in the scoring parade in the 23rd minute when she chipped in a Parra pass for the goal. Abby Schlater scored two goals in a span of 18 seconds to give the Flames a 5-0 lead. Both assists came from Katie Pickinpaugh (JR, Omaha, Neb.). Defender Erika Yost (FR, Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored her second goal of the season off a through ball from Pickinpaugh. Late in the first half, William Penn’s Jordan Davis got behind the CSM defense and tucked a shot into the left corner of the goal to cut the lead to 6-1 going into half time. CSM’s offense cooled a bit in the second half. Abby Schlater scored her third goal of the game in the 54th minute. This was the first career hat trick for Schlater. The Flames defense allowed only three WPU shots in the second half. Courtney Smith (FR, Colorado Springs, Colo.) allowed one goal and made seven saves on the day.

BVUBuena Vista dropped their first match of the season on Saturday to Loras College. Loras is the defending co-IIAC champion. The Duhawks lead 3-0 at the half and added a late second half goal for a 4-0 victory. The match was the Iowa Conference opener for both teams.

OWUOklahoma Wesleyan won their fourth straight game over the weekend with a 5-3 win over Bethany (KS). In the game Amber Brown-Longoria had a hat-trick and an assist.
