Room Selection 2012

ROOM SELECTION is your opportunity to select your room for the 2012-13 academic year prior to new students being assigned. Room selection is available first to current residents. Current residents who do not participate during this specific time period will still be able to request housing, but they will be assigned along with all other new residents, according to the date on which they complete a Housing Contract. TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ROOM SELECTION PROCESS, YOU MUST:• Currently live on campus.• Have a housing deposit on file.• Have no current holds on your student

account. (Please verify that there are no holds on your account through MyFAU. If you have any questions, contact the office that has placed the hold on your account.)

• Have completed your hepatitis B and meningitis immunization requirements.

SIGN YOUR 2012-2013 CONTRACT:Before you can participate in Room Selection you will have to sign your Housing Contract online via MyFAU prior to 11 p.m. on March 15. Select the Students tab and find the Housing & Residential Life channel where you can click Housing Online.

ROOMMATE/SUITEMATE SELECTION:You will be able to identify up to three roommates, suitemates or apartment mates. In order to request roommates, suitemates or apartment mates, you must all request each other through the MyHousing system and have each signed a Housing Contract. You will be able to log on and request roommates from March 12-15.

SQUATTING (students wishing to return to the same room for 2012-2013):Students currently living in ALG, UVA, IVAN or IVAS (floors 4-7) will be able to request to stay in their current room for the 2012-13 academic year. Squatting students will be able to log on to the MyHousing system (available by clicking Housing Online in the Housing and Residential Life channel under the MyFAU Students tab) and select their current room on March 19 from 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. Choosing this option will not allow you to pull in roommates/suitemates/ apartment mates during the process.

DISPLACED STUDENTS:Students who are not able to squat in their room (IVAS floors 1-3 or others notified by Housing) will be given priority should they wish to select another room on campus. Displaced students may select a room on March 21 between 7 a.m. - 11 p.m.

FILL AN ENTIRE SUITE OR APARTMENT:Students who can fill an entire suite or apartment if they have enough roommates/suitemates/apartment mates may select an apartment or suite on March 22 (students with more than 30 credits and graduate students) or March 26 (students with less than 31 credits) between 7 a.m. - 11 p.m. This option will only work if you are able to fill the entire suite or apartment.

SELECTING A ROOM:During your assigned room selection day, you can log on to the MyHousing system (available by clicking Housing Online in the Housing and Residential Life channel under the MyFAU Students tab) and will be able to request the exact suite and room where you will live for 2012-13. In the MyHousing system you will see available rooms for selection. If you don’t see the room you like, it means it has already been selected. If you requested a roommate/suitemate, they will

March 12-15 Open 24 Hours Students who have submitted a Housing Contract can select aroommate/ suitemate/apartment mate (if desired).

March 19 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.

Squatters (students wishing to request the same room for 2012-2013 they currently occupy) sign up.Squatting is only available for the residents who live in Innovation Village Apartments North, Innovation Village Apartments South (4th – 7th floor residents), University Village Apartments and Algonquin Hall.

March 21 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Displaced residents whocurrentlyliveonfloors1-3ofInnovationVillageSouthandothersnotifiedbyHousingmayselectaroom.

March 22 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.Students who have more than 30 credits and graduate students. mayfillasuiteorapartment.This option is only available if students are able to fill the entire suite or apartment.

March 23 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Students who have more than 30 credits and graduate students may select a room.

March 26 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.Students whohavelessthan31creditsmayfillasuiteorapartment.This option is only available if students are able to fill the entire suite or apartment.

March 27 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Students who have less than 31 credits may select a room.

March 29 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.Room Change Day for those students interested in changing their requested assignment. Students will need to come by the Housing Office to request a room change.

March 30 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.Commuter Sign Up Day (students must submit their Housing Contract by March 15). Current FAU students who do not live on campus may select a room.

ROOM CHANGE DAY:On Room Change Day (March 29), you must come to the Housing Office to request a room change from your requested assignment.

COMMUTER SIGN UP DAY:During Commuter Sign Up day (March 30), students who currently do not reside on campus can log on to the MyHousing system (available by clicking Housing Online in the Housing and Residential Life channel under the MyFAU Students tab) to request the exact suite and room where you will live for 2012-13. You must submit a Housing Contract and pay a $200 deposit by March 15 in order to participate on Commuter Sign Up day.
