JUDGEThe Society is pleased to announce that Anne Gregory, England, has been appointed to judge at the

2012 Royal Adelaide Show.

JUDGES PROFILEAnne has always lived with and loved cats and then, when married in 1966, her husband bought her a pair of Siamese seal-pointed neuters. Anne went to her first cat show in 1972 and thought the best job in the world would be a cat judge! Anne gained her prefix, Beaumaris, in late 1972 and started stewarding in earnest. Anne became a Full Judge of Siamese in 1986, just loved judging and finally became an all-breed GCCF judge in February 2010.Anne is a retired Head of Music and Expressive Arts at Secondary Level and enjoys Baroque Music. Anne has bred Siamese, Foreign Whites, British SH, Somalis, Birmans, Egyptian Maus and Selkirk Rex.

CLOSING DATE OF ENTRIESThe following conditions will strictly apply:• All entry forms, whether lodged in person or

sent by post, or completed online must be in the Society’s possession at its Administration Office by 5.00 pm on Friday, 22 June 2012.

• Postal entry forms and fees will be accepted up to and including entries postmarked on or before the official closing date.

• A late entry option is offered under the following conditions: Received or postmarked within 7 days of the official closing date and an additional fee equivalent to three times the standard entry fee per class is to be paid.

• When sending entry forms and fees by post, the onus is on the the exhibitor to ensure adequate delivery time.

• Entry forms by facsimile or email will not be accepted.

• If you require formal acknowledgement that your entry has been received, please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope with your entry form.

• Absolutely no exception to the above conditions will be made to any exhibitor under any circumstance.

SPECIAL REGULATIONSExhibitors are reminded that the Society’s General Regulations apply to all sections of the Show and that the Special Regulations hereunder set out, which apply to this section only, are merely supplementary to and subject to the Regulations. A copy of the General Regulations may be obtained from the Society’s website at theshow.com.au or a copy may be obtained upon request from the Society’s Administration Office.

LOCATION OF EXHIBITSCats will be exhibited in the Pet Centre in the Stirling Angas Hall on the Showground.Exhibitors will be advised of arrival and departure details when the Notice to Exhibitors is posted out.

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTEAs there is a limit to the number of cats that can be accommodated in the present venue, entries will be determined strictly according to the number of exhibits entered in each breed. If numbers are too large, some breeds may be moved to another day. Exhibitors will be notified of any change.

ENTRY TO SHOWGROUNDExhibitors entering 1-2 exhibits will receive one day entry pass.Three or more exhibits will receive 2 day entry passes.One additional day pass only will be issued by the Supervisor to exhibitors returning for judging on Saturday 15 September.Additional exhibitor admission passes may be purchased when submitting entries. See entry form for pricing.

AWARDSNo prize will be awarded unless the exhibit is, in the opinion of the judge, worthy.Prize Cards will be awarded. Special awards will be allotted to classes where entries warrant it.Trophy donations from Clubs and Individuals will be acknowledged in the Catalogue.It would be appreciated if all trophies were delivered to the Administration Office at the Showground or to one of the Section Supervisors at least 10 days prior to the opening day of the Show.Rosettes will be awarded to the following:- Breed Awards- Top Ten Exhibits in Show- Judge’s Fancy (to be awarded each breed judging day - Friday 7 to Friday 14 September 2012)Sashes will be awarded to the following:- Best Domestic or Part Pedigreed in Show- Reserve Best Domestic of Part Pedigreed in ShowPrize ribbons will be awarded to the following:- 1st, 2nd and 3rd in Side Classes

MERIT CERTIFICATEA merit certificate may be awarded to the winning entry in the domestic and partPedigree neuter male and neuter female classes if recommended by the judge.

CHALLENGE CERTIFICATESA challenge certificate may be awarded to the winning entries in the open, championship, grand championship and double grand championship classes of each breed (except in any other variety or provisional breeds) if recommended by the judge.A challenge certificate may be awarded to the winning entries in the neuter, premier neuter, grand premier neuter and double grand premier neuter classes of each breed (except in any other variety or provisional breeds) if recommended by the judge.Any breed or colour not listed under the breeds section can be entered as an AOV.

MAJOR AWARD WINNERSCats winning major awards will be required to be exhibited on the last day. Exhibitors must bring their original slip for vetting-in. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of awards. Interstate and far distant South Australian exhibits are able to apply for exemption from returning on the last day. Arrangements for exemption must be made with the Cat Supervisor prior to the last day.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIESThe cats name, registered number, council where registered, date of birth, sire and dam, breed, colour and breeder must be stated on the entry form.Exhibitors must be the registered owner/lessee of the exhibit.Specify exact colour description of each cat, e.g. Blue Tabby Point, Brown Spotted Tabby British etc., as there are separate challenge classes for colours.Kittens can only be entered in kitten classes.

REGISTRATIONSAll cats or kittens domiciled in South Australia, except domestics, must be registered with either FASA or GCSA.Interstate exhibits must be registered within their own State of domicile with a recognised council.Kittens over five months and cats/kittens within three months of transfer from interstate must be registered with FASA or GCSA.All kittens must be litter registered.All registration numbers must be supplied to the Cat Convenor by 29 August 2012 - refer inside front cover.

AGE OF ANIMALSPlease note important change to age regulations:The age of all cats will be the actual age on the first day of the Royal Adelaide Show. (month refers to calender month)

CAGESThe cages will be 535 mm x 535 mm. Double cages will not be available.Prior to judging, there shall be no interior or exterior distinguishing objects. Plain white or coloured curtains and blankets are permissible. Litter trays will be allowed in cages during judging. Trays must be unidentifiable.

EXHIBITSNo cat shall be removed between the hours of 7.30 am and 5.15 pm unless a veterinary certificate is produced stating that the cat is not fit to remain on the Showground.It is recommended that cats be exhibited with all claws clipped. Domestic cats and part pedigreed cats must be desexed by the age of six months.No cat or kitten shall be removed during the time it is on exhibition for any purpose whatsoever without the authority of the supervisor.The Society will under no circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss or misdelivery of exhibits, or any injury thereto.

VETERINARY INSPECTIONAll cats must arrive by 7.30 am on judging days for examination by the Society’s veterinary surgeon. If approved, cats must be benched at once. No person, except the owner or his representatives, will be allowed in the pavilion until after the cats have been examined and benched. Any cat which shows symptoms of anydisease, is lice infested and/or dirty, must be removed from the Showground immediately.If any exhibit is rejected on the grounds of infectious or contagious disease, then no other exhibits from that cattery may be shown. The vets decision is final.

UNATTENDED EXHIBITSIf an exhibit is to be left unattended whilst on show Stewards & Officials must be made aware.Stewards and Officials may tend to unattended exhibits as deemed necessary.

UNAUTHORISED REMOVAL OF CATSNo cat will be permitted to leave the Showground before the time set down for its removal, unless the owner produces a certificate signed by the Society’s veterinary surgeon signifying that the animal be removed for reason of health or condition. Removal of cats before the stipulated time of departure will render the owners and cats liable to disqualification.

WITHDRAWALS/FAILURE TO EXHIBITEvery cat entered must be exhibited unless a certificate signed by the exhibitor or his authorised agent is lodged with the Society before the day of exhibition stating that the animal is unable to compete for one of the following reasons:1. The cat has died;2. The cat is unfit for exhibition due to

injury or disease (confirmed by veterinary surgeon’s certificate);

3. The cat has become ineligible for the class entered;

4. The cat is 28 days or more pregnant;5. Some other cause which the Society

considers reasonable.

Exhibitors must notify the Show Society Supervisors of any cats or kittens that will not be exhibited at least 24 hours before the day of exhibition Mobile: 0414 485 200, Phone: 08 8351 1676 or Email: [email protected] to comply with this rule will render the exhibitor liable to a fine of $15 for each cat not exhibited. Non-payment of these fines may debar such persons from exhibiting at future Royal Adelaide Shows.

ATTENTION EXHIBITORSPlease note that Mars Petcare Australia is the major sponsor of the Cat Sectionat the Royal Adelaide Show. Please note that you must not display in your exhibit cages or in any space adjacent to your exhibit cages any product other than products produced by Mars Petcare Australia.Anyone not abiding by this request will be asked to remove the products from their exhibit cages. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

BREEDERS & CLUB DAYWednesday 12 September

For registered cats and registered kittens display only.Exhibitor must indicate number of cages required and number of cats on display on the entry form. (Full details of each exhibit must be provided.)Cattery name, For Sale sign and award ribbons may be displayed.After vetting and judging cats may be handled by their owner.Breeders Day Cage availability will be dependant on the number of Domestics and Part Pedigree cats entered. ONLINE ENTRIESPlease read the instructions on each page – before proceeding to the next stage. • Exhibitors do not need to be members of the

RA&HS, however a discount on entry fees does apply to current members. Please have your current membership number ready when doing entries (e.g. RM0000000). If you would like to become a member , or renew your existing membership, please do so before completing your online entry by visiting – www.theshow.com.au – Membership.

• South Australian registration numbers are to be entered starting with either FASA or GCSA (e.g. FASA 16999B or GCSA 3G8016). All cats or kittens domiciled in South Australia, except domestics must be registered with either FASA or GCSA.

• The age of all cats will be the actual age on the first day of the Royal Adelaide Show.

• If you wish to enter a kitten or cat which is awaiting a FASA or GCSA registration number – please contact the Cat Convenor by email – [email protected] or by telephone 0414 485 200 or 08 8351 1676 after 4.30pm weekdays or anytime on weekends. The pending registration number will have a prefix of CATX followed by a four digit number.

• When purchasing a cage for Breeders and Club Day you will need to provide full details of the exhibit, and then select class “BCD” (Breeders & Club Day). Full exhibit details will need to be provided for each cage.

• If your cat has a new title since you entered in 2011 – please provide details in the Comments section. You will not be permitted to change the details in the exhibit name.

• Title upgrades following submission of your online entry must be sent to the Cat Convenors – details are listed on the inside cover of the 2012 Cat Prize Schedule.

• Any changes in exhibit details such as Titles or Sex should be noted in the comments box on completion of your entry.

• If your Cat’s colour is not listed in the colour listing providing when you make your entry – please note the colour in the comments box.

• Upon completion of your online entry you will be able to print a receipt and details of your entry.

Animal Exhibitors Public Liability Insurance (Explanation) WHEREAS The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia has agreed to effect a Public Liability insurance for certain Animal Exhibitors at the 2012 Adelaide Show, the following applies:-

Insured Party Animal and Livestock Exhibitors participating in competitions and events

Period of Insurance From seven days prior to the Show until seven days thereafter

Insured Activities All activities undertaken whilst within and from the confines of the event venue consistent with the Insured’s livestock exhibit activity including setting up and removal

Description of Cover Insurance in respect of the Insured Party’s liability to pay costs and compensation in respect of loss of or damage to third party property and death of or injury to third party persons or for advertising liability caused by and arising out of the Insured activities, all subject to the RAHSSA‟s policy terms, conditions, exclusions and warranties, etc.

Amount of Cover $10,000,000 any one occurrence

Important Conditions The Insured Party must exercise reasonable care to maintain all premises, fittings and plant in sound condition.

• The Insured Party must take all reasonable precautions to prevent injury and damage to persons and property.

• The Insured Party must give immediate notice of an incident which may give rise to a claim or of receipt of advice of a claim.

• The Insured Party must not make any admission, offer or promise in connection with any claim and must not any time admit liability.

• The Insured Party must made themselves aware of and comply with the following Notices:-

Duty of Disclosure Before you enter into a contract of General insurance with an insurer, you have a duty, under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984 as amended, to disclose to the insurer every matter that you know, or could reasonably be expected to know, is relevant to the insurer's decision whether to accept the risk of the insurance and, if so, on what terms.

You have the same duty to disclose these matters to the insurer before you renew, extend, vary or reinstate a contract of General insurance.

Your duty however, does not require disclosure of matter:-

• that diminishes the risk to be undertaken by the insurer

• that is of common knowledge

• that your insurer knows or, in the ordinary course of his business, ought to know.

Important Conditions Non-Disclosure If you fail to comply with your duty of disclosure, the insurer may be entitled to reduce his liability under the contract in respect of a claim or may cancel the contract.

If your non-disclosure is fraudulent, the insurer may also have the option of avoiding the contract from its beginning.

Average Provision The insurer will pay legal expenses in addition to the sum insured, if however, the total amount of the loss (less legal expenses) ultimately paid to the claimant(s) exceeds the sum insured then insurers will only pay (in addition to the sum insured) that proportion of the legal expenses as the sum insured bears to the loss.

Third Party Interests This policy will only provide cover for your interest and does not cover the interests of any third party (e.g. financiers, lessors, etc) unless the interests of the third party are noted in the policy.

Waiver of Insurer's Rights You must not enter into any agreement without the written authority of the insurer whereby any of their rights to which they become entitled as your insurer after settling or agreeing to settle a claim are prejudiced or limited in any way otherwise all benefit under the policy will be forfeited.

COMPETITIVE EXHIBITORSConditions of Entry

HAZARD REPORTINGCompetitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately of any hazards detected. Hazards are any situation which has the potential to cause:1. Injury, illness or death to people or animals

either immediately or in the future2. Damage or destruction to property

INCIDENT REPORTINGCompetitors must notify the Area/Pavilion Supervisor or the Venue Management Office immediately an incident occurs which has resulted in:1. The injury, illness or death of any person or

animal 2. The damage, destruction or loss of property3. A near miss incident that could have resulted

in the consequences listed in 1 and 2

WASTE DISPOSALAll waste including liquids must be disposed of responsibly. Storm drains must not be used for the disposal of any waste.

HAZARD MINIMISATIONAll areas must be kept in a clean and tidy order with clearly defined and available access and exit routes at all times. Build up of combustible waste must be avoided.Care must be taken to minimise trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALSThe RA&HS are to be advised of all hazardous materials that are to be brought onto the Showground. Appropriate warning signs and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will need to be provided before allowing these materials on site.

MEDIA COMMENTSAny public comment on emergencies, incidents or other venue matters should only come from the RA&HS. The key media spokesperson for the RA&HS is the Marketing Manager.

DUTY OF CAREAll competitors have a “Duty of Care” to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations which could lead to injury. This “Duty of Care” extends to the prevention of damage to property.

LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY1. Release Entry to and remaining on the Showground

is entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Exhibitor releases the Society (which term includes in this clause the Society’s officers, employees, members and agents), from all claims and demands of every kind resulting from any accident, damage or injury occurring at the Showground, and without limitation, the Exhibitor acknowledges:

(a) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibit;

(b) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to or caused by any Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees and Agents;

(c) the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury to a Motor Vehicle or any of its contents whilst it is located on the Showground; and

(d) without limiting Regulations 1 (a) and 1 (b) above, the Society has no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury resulting from the sale, treatment, failure to treat, destruction, disposal or other dealing with any Exhibit, or for loss, damage or injury to any personal belongings, equipment or property brought onto the Showground.

2 Indemnity To the maximum extent permitted by law,

the Exhibitor must indemnify and keep indemnified the Society and its officers, employees, members and agents from and against all actions, claims, demands, losses, damages, costs, expenses and liabilities including without limitation, consequential loss and loss of profits for which the Society is or may be or become liable in respect of or arising from:

(a) loss, damage or injury to any person in connection with the Exhibit or the relevant Event;

(b) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to any other Exhibit or Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, Agents, or to the property of the Society, or its members, or to the general public, caused or contributed to or by any act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents; and

(c) without limiting Regulation 2(a), loss, damage or injury to the Exhibit, or the Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees, or Agents caused or contributed by an act or omission of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor or by the transportation, feeding or housing of an Exhibit of the Exhibitor.

3 Removal from Showground Without prejudice to any other provision

in these Regulations, where the Society, its officers, employees, members or agents removes an Exhibit, or causes an Exhibit to be removed from the Showground, the Exhibit is removed or caused to be removed entirely at the risk of the Exhibitor. The person or persons removing the Exhibit will be deemed to be the agent of the Exhibitor, and his or her acts and omissions will be deemed to be the acts and omissions of the Exhibitor.

4. Insurance The Society will arrange Compulsory Owner’s

Liability insurance cover for all Exhibitors of Exhibits being animals. The Exhibitor is bound by the terms and conditions of this insurance and by Statutory Duties as defined under the Insurance Contracts Act (1984). Details of the Compulsory Owner’s Liability insurance are set out in the Relevant Schedule

5. Personal effects The Society has no responsibility or liability

for any loss or damage caused to personal belongings, equipment or property which is brought onto the Showground by an Exhibitor, his or her family, invitees or Agents.

EMERGENCY INFORMATIONEmergency information and Emergency Assembly Points for the various animal pavilions and stables will be included with Exhibitor Entry Detail Returns and Notice to Exhibitor mail outs. Competitors should be familiar with these plans.

FIRST AIDDuring the Royal Adelaide Show, St John Ambulance provides First Aid Services but it is suggested that competitors have a basic First Aid kit if minor injuries are a possibility.

RA&HS EMERGENCY FACILITIESFire fighting and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Venue Management Office immediately.

SMOKINGThe RA&HS Smoking Code does not permit smoking inside buildings, within 10 metres of a building entrance, around combustibles, during public performances or while handling hazardous materials.

TRAFFIC CONTROLThe RA&HS Traffic Control Code imposes speed restrictions within the Showground. For the duration of the Royal Adelaide Show the speed limit is 10 kph.The use of vehicles inside the Showground is closely managed during the Royal Adelaide Show. Conditions of entry will be provided with the issue of Vehicle Entry Permits.

ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT1. All extension cords and electrical appliances

must be tested and tagged in accordance with current legislation as per Australian Standards 3760.

2. Power boards with overload protection can only be used at the discretion of the Venue Manager.

3. The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited.

4. Appliances and power cables must not be used or laid through any area that may become wet.

5. Power cables must not be laid across walkways, paths, roads or any area where damage could occur to the cable.

6. Bar (resistance) heaters are strictly prohibited.7. Light sockets must not be used for any other

purpose
