    Tuesday, July 17, 2012 - The Atrium

    In 2003, the Butler County Chamber began recognizing local organizations that impactthe community through a cooperative project or initiative, with the presentation of theCommunity Champion Award. 4-Most Group, Inc. Architects, has designed and sponsoredthe award certificate since its inception. This years Community Champion Award luncheonis sponsored by ARMSTRONG and presented in cooperation with the Butler County Tourism

    and Convention Bureau.Main Street lighting, flowers and signage earned the Butler Shade Tree Commission the firs

    inaugural award. Slippery Rock Area Development Association followed the next year for theMain Street renovations in Slippery Rock. Butler AM Rotary Club received well-deserved honorfor the handicapped playground at Alameda Park. We were pleased to recognize the ParkingAuthority of Butler for the parking deck and surface lot improvements in downtown Butler.

    Butler Downtown had worked for numerous years to successfully establish the MainStreet Program and was deservedly recognized followed in 2008 by the Historic PullmanPark Commission. In 2009 we rewarded the Community Health Clinic of Butler County, foestablishing a visionary facility for health care. 2010 recognized the Historic Strand TheaterCommittee in Zelienople for their community preservation efforts and the Butler-Freeport Traireceived last years award.

    On July 6th and 7th, the Butler County HumaneSociety will be hosting Kittenpalooza, a uniqueadoption event to help find the many kittens bornthis spring their forever homes. There will be the

    opportunity for families to have their adoption pre-approved by filling out and submitting an adoption formto the shelter. Every adoption form will then go throughthe usual adoption process and if you are approved, youmay choose and take home your new kitten (or kittens)the same day. There will also be specials on multiplekitten adoptions; including enough bowls, litter boxes,and other niceties to make bringing your kittens homeas simple as possible.     at Butler Health System.Roskovski has been a memberof the administrative team atBMH since 2002 most recentlyserving as Vice President ofOperations.

    Roskovski earned a Bachelorof Science degree from WestVirginia University whereshe majored in Business Administration. She received

    a dual Masters in Health Administration and PublicAdministration.

    She started her career as the Director of CommunityHealth Planning at Butler Memorial Hospital in 1994She has a wide and diverse background at BHS, alsoserving as Director of Education, Special Assistant tothe President and Vice President of Outpatient Servicesand Vice President of Operations. She is currently onthe Board of the Butler County Chamber of Commerceand has served as a Director on the Leadership ButlerCounty Board of Directors as an alumna.

    Stephanie wil l now assume a much morecomprehensive role in the coordination and execution

    of all operations within the health system, says KenDeFurio, President and CEO. Stephanie brings a wealthof knowledge to this position and we look forward toher leadership contributions in the years ahead.

    As one of the few ladies only golf outings in thearea, the Butler County Chamber of Commerces18th Annual Ladies Golf Outing will be held onWednesday, August 1, 2012. Dont miss your

    chance to enjoy a beautiful day of golf and networking.The outing, held at Conley Resort in Butler, includes around of golf, lunch, beverages, contests, cocktail hour,dinner, prizes and team awards.

    2nd Annual Powerful Connections for Women

    All women are Leaders

    Women United, an initiative of United Way ofButler County; in conjunction with Butler HealthSystem, Slippery Rock University, and the ButlerCounty Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to

    announce the Second Annual Powerful Connections forWomen Conference being held on August 3, 2012, at8:00 a.m. at Slippery Rock University in the Robert M.Smith Student Center.

    This full-day conference and workshop identifiesstrategies for success, and includes connecting to thereal issues of work/life balance, health/wellness, andprofessional/personal growth skills.

    The morning keynote speaker is Newlin Archinal.After nearly 15 years, Newlin transitioned from hersuccessful career as a television anchor, Emmy-nominated journalist and business editor to becomean investment advisor. In 2008, Newlin joined IntegrityWealth Consulting and has earned the designation ofChartered Retirement Planning Counselor. From herfirst-hand experience, she will speak on transitioningcareers and life paths.

    The afternoon keynote speaker is The Honorable

    Marilyn J. Horan. For 33 years, Judge Horan has beena trailblazer, leading the way for women to succeed inthe workforce. She has been a judge of the Court oCommon Pleas for Butler County for 16 years. Prior tobecoming the first woman judge for the County, shewas a successful lawyer with the law firm of MurrinTaylor, Flach and Horan for 17 years. She is also a prouddaughter, wife and mother of 4 children. Judge Horanwill speak about the importance of mentors in careerand personal development.

    Chambers 56th Annual Golf Outing at LakeArthur Golf Club. Guests enjoyed breakfast,lunch, cocktail hour, hors doeuvres anddinner. Golfers also participated in a 50/50raffle, door prizes, Chinese Auction, teamand skill prizes and, of course, 18 holesof golf.
