Overview

The BHDS Group is a professional services company with the capabilities to support the full cycle of real estate development and construc-tion - from inception to completion. We offer the following services;

Mission

As an owner’s principal agent, the BHDS Group will provide each project with leadership guided by the principles of trust, transparent proc-esses, effective collaboration, and the skill and expertise required to reduce the owner’s risk and deliver construction programs and/or pro-jects on-time, within budget, with complete client satisfaction.

History

In 1979, Barbara Inc. was founded as a company providing general construction and construction management services for a broad spec-trum of market sectors including commercial, private education, entertainment, hospitality, mixed-use, office, resort and estate residential, retail, restaurant and spa.

Working with many diverse clients, Barbara Inc. quickly expanded its experience using all project delivery methods including design-bid-build, design-build and construction management at-risk.

In response to changing market conditions and client requests in 1985, the BHDS Group was founded as a firm providing professional con-struction management and program management services as an owners’ principal agent.

By leveraging the understanding of the rolls and responsibilities in the A/E and construction industry along with practical experience and comprehensive skills in all areas of planning, design and construction of projects and programs, the BHDS Group has been able to provide a value added service for its clients’ national and international expansion needs.

Program Management

The BHDS Group provides the application of construction management to a capital building program with multiple projects. We will manage all of the resources and relationships necessary to ensure your program is delivered on-time, within budget and with complete client satis-faction.

While program management draws upon the same skill set as construction management, it is often and best engaged early in the concep-tual planning phase of a program and may include additional activities such as:

LAWRENCE BARBARA, LEED AP Principal

As Principal-in-Charge of the BHDS Group, a professional firm providing Construction Management and Program Management as an Owner’s Representative, Mr. Barbara is actively involved in all aspects of the business on a daily basis. He brings more than 33 years of professional experience in planning, design, and construction of na-tional and international commercial and residential projects. Mr. Barbara’s experience covers a broad spectrum of project types including commercial, public and private edu-cation, entertainment, hospitality, mixed-use, office, resort and estate residential, retail, restaurant, spa, historic districts and landmarks and, hurricane preparedness and disaster recovery programs. After graduating from the University of Florida, Mr. Barbara began his career in the construction industry working as an intern estimator for the J. W. Bateson Construction Company in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Barbara later joined the firm of Joe Funk Construction Engineers, a local Dallas general contractor, as chief estimator and project manager responsible for commercial and institutional projects. From 1979 to 1985, Mr. Barbara owned and operated a successful general contracting company where he contin-ued developing his career in the design and construction industry. Responding to changing market conditions, Mr. Barbara leveraged his practical experience and qualifications in all areas of planning, design and construction by forming the BHDS Group and working with many of his prior clientele as an owner’s representative. Most recently, Mr. Barbara was contracted as the owner’s representative to provide Program Management and Construction Management for the Bridge Street Town Centre development, a public/private venture with the City of McKinney. The 1,000,000 square foot project valued at 250 million dollars, consists of mixed use retail, restau-rant, office, movie theatre, higher education, spa, and a Westin Hotel and Events Center. Throughout his career, Mr. Barbara has brought to each project leadership guided by the principles of trust, trans-parent processes, effective collaboration, and the skill and expertise required to reduce the Owner’s risk and de-liver projects on-time and within budget. This approach has resulted in long-term client relationships with develop-ers, community leaders, public boards, retailers, restaurant groups, franchisees, and a host of talented and crea-tive consultants and associate partners.

DAVID M. BARBARA

Project Management Services

David Barbara has over 25 years of construction management experience within a broad spectrum of market sec-tors including commercial, office, hospitality, retail, restaurant, residential, industrial and manufacturing. David brings strong project management and problem-solving skills to his work to ensure clients are properly repre-sented and their projects are constructed to their satisfaction.

As a project manager, he is skilled at organizing project delivery and assisting owners with smooth and seamless transition between construction and operational occupancy, start-up and project close-out. David has demon-strated his ability to coordinate complex issues successfully on a wide range of project types.

His early work included project management and asset management for the Rosewood Property Company, a real estate development and investment company owned by the Hunt family located in Dallas, Texas.

An example of David’s notable projects include The Crescent, a centerpiece of the Uptown/Turtle Creek Class A office market. The Crescent Office Towers total 1,134,826 sf in 3 contiguous buildings with a 19-story center struc-ture and two adjoining 18-story structures. On-site amenities include:
