While CDOT continually maintains high quality transportation data, the overall cartographic display of data was outdated, which made the maps hard to use. In addition, CDOT faced a challenge in striking a balance between creating high quality maps for 332 unique jurisdictions across the state and being able to efficiently produce these maps in a similar format, respecting a variety of map scales and page sizes. By combining new mapping technologies and cartographic tools, this project was able to achieve this balance.
