making French the best subject at school

The Berthe Mouchette Competi-tion, named in honour of the Al-liance Française de Melbourne’s founder, has been alive and run-ning since 1894.

Each year more than 13,000 young Victorians bring French poetry to life through recitals… but the BMC is more than just a poetry competition.

Year 3 to 6 students participat-ing in the poetry recitation are in-vited to portray their impressions of the poems by entering our drawing competition, “J’illustre mon poème”.

Prix Special des Ecoles Fran-çaises – is open to bilingual stu-dents in Years 3 to 12 attending French or Bilingual Schools in Victoria. At primary level stu-dents recite poems while at sec-ondary level, students compose poems in French, bien sûr!

The Alliance Française de Mel-bourne runs the competition and awards prizes (DVDs, books, CDs and encyclopedias ) to the best students at each year level from Years 3 to 12 in Victoria.

The three friends research, draw, invent, dress up and act out the stories that take their fancy in a magical night where anything is possible —sorcerers and fairies, powerful kings and stable boys, werewolves and merciless ladies, cathedrals and straw huts, cities of gold and deep forests, the waves of harmony of choirs immense and the spells of a single tom-tom, malice that ravages and innocence that triumphs…

Along with his mischievous friends, Nicolas thus devises a series of plans to get rid of the baby.

ducoboo france - 2011. dir: PhiliPPe de chauveronDucoboo, 11, an incorrigible dunce, has just been expelled from yet another school.
