At Tiffi n University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic pro-grams have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual ac-colades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study con-ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffi n Uni-versity in the last fi ve years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing fi eld and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confi dent the future will also be highly successful for Tiffi n University athletics.

Welcome to this athletic season at Tiffi n University. I invite you to watch and cheer for all of our women’s and men’s teams. Intercollegiate athletics play an important role at Tiffi n University. The students who participate develop life-long friendships and learn leadership and teamwork skills, how to set goals and work hard to achieve those goals, how to deal with adversity, the importance of persistence, sportsmanship, and physical fi tness, and other skills and abilities that contribute to satisfying and productive lives and careers. Our athletic program also provides visibility and name recognition for TU, helps develop a sense of excitement, morale and school spirit on campus, and provides opportunities for students, employees, alumni, and supporters to unite behind a common goal. We are especially proud of the high standards of conduct displayed by our coaches and players on and off the fi eld.

Since his arrival,

Coach Croy has led

the Dragons to 11

consecutive winning

seasons. Through 2011 the men have posted a 416-110 record

(.790) (61-15 in 2011) and the women 276-238 (.536) (43-17 in

2011) during that same time.

Indoors, TU has had six conference champions, 63 top eight

conference placers, 80 national qualifi ers and 13 NAIA/NCAA

All-Americans.

For the men, the Dragons have had six conference champions,

50 top eight conference placers, 58 national qualifi ers and 11 all-

americans. In 2011, Lee Miller placed fi fth in the NCAA Division

II championship meet, making it the third straight year that TU

scored.

For the women, TU has had 13 top eight conference placers, 22

national qualifi ers and two all-americans. Chelsea Shelnick was

7th in the 60-meter hurdles (NAIA) in 2007 and Kristen Ameling

was fourth in the shot put (NCAA DII) in 2009.

Outdoors, TU has had 60 conference champions, 437 top eight

conference placers, 61 national qualifi ers and nine NAIA/NCAA

All-Americans.

For the men, the Dragons have had 40 conference champions,

All-americans. Tiffi n has won four America Mideast Conference

titles (2004, 05, 06, 07).

For the women, TU has had 20 conference champions, 179

top eight conference placers and 23 national qualifi ers. In 2005,

Chelsea Shelnick placed fi fth in the 400m hurdles (NAIA) to

become the only All-American in school history.

Overall, TU has had 66 conference champions, 500 top eight

conference placers, 141 national qualifi ers and 22 NAIA/NCAA

All-Americans.

For the women, TU has had 13 top eight conference placers, 22

national qualifi ers and two All-Americans. Chelsea Shelnick was

7th in the 60-meter hurdles (NAIA) in 2007 and Kristen Ameling

was fourth in the shot put (NCAA DII) in 2009.

Tiffi n has excelled in the classroom as well. The Dragons have

had 237 GLIAC All-Academic selections, 31 USTFCCA Scholar

Athletes and seven CoSIDA all-district selections. Earning Capital

Academic honors have been Nancy Lamuth (2005 - 2nd Team),

Jason Werling (2007 - 2nd Team), Chad Roberts (2008 - 3rd Team)

and Kristen Ameling (2009 - 1st Team).

Croy was named GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the

Year and NCAA II Regional Coach of the Year in 2011. He has

also been named the America Mideast Conference Men’s Coach of

the Year four times (2004, 05, 06, 07).

Croy earned four letters in cross country and track and fi eld

at Ohio Northern (1993-97). He earned a degree in Sports

Management from ONU. Croy resides in Tiffi n with his wife,

Meladie and their two children, Corinne and William.

Ron Martin is in his seventh season with Tiffi n University as a distance coach. In the four years that Martin has coached the “TU DISTANCE CREW”, his athletes have broken over 19 school records and garnered two NCAA D-II All Americans.

Chad Roberts accomplished the feat in Cross Country (28th in 31:17.4) and Jeremy Lee was 3rd at the National Meet in the 1500 (3:51.53).

Ron taught health and physical education for 30 years. He has coached distance runners for 37 years at three different high schools (Caldwell, Tiffi n Columbian, and Seneca East) in addition to Tiffi n University. In cross country, Martin’s athletes have compiled an overall record of 2730 Wins - 354 Losses (88.5% winning percentage). His athletes have a combined total of 28 All-Ohio honors, 8 individual State Champions, and 3 high school All-Americans. His teams have fi nished 1st or 2nd in the State Cross Country Meet 16 times.

In Track, Martin’s distance runners have compiled 25 All-Ohio honors, 5 individual State Champions, 8 high school All-Americans, and 1 National Champion in the 5000m (15:12.7).

Ron and Bev, his wife of 33 years, are parents to 5 children (Chris, Heather, Erica, Rachel, and Rebecca).

RonMartin

Marc Small is in his third season at Tiffi n. He will coach the Sprints and Jumps. Prior

to TU, he coached sprints and jumps and was the strength and conditioning coach at Lake Superior State. During his time at LSSU, Small’s athletes broke 21 school records with over 15 top-5 fi nishes at the GLIAC championship meets, and he also helped train a 2007 NCAA All American.

Small ran at Tiffi n for three years, qualifying in the 800 for the NAIA Indoor National Championships twice. He was a two-time America Mideast Conference champion in the 800. Small held the school records in the indoor and outdoor 800 at graduation. Both times remain among the top fi ve. Small earned a degree in Sports Management from TU in 2006.

Small fi nished his career at Lake Superior State, running on two indoor school record relays (1600M, distance medley relay). He has a Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction.

MarcSmall

Ray Robinson is in his fi rst year at TU. He is no stranger to the Dragons after a succesful throwing career here.

Robinson scored in the discus at the outdoor GLIAC Championship meet three times. In 2010 he set the school record and

provisionally qualifi ed for the NCAA Division II National Championships in the discus with a toss of 162 feet, four inches. Robinson also ranks among the top 10 in the 35-LB weight and hammer. He was a four-time GLIAC All-Academic selection.

Coaching experience: USATF registered coach. Coached Adriane Blewitt at the 2010 U.S. Championships at Drake University, in Des Moines Iowa. Blewitt fi nished fi fth in the shot put among the nation’s professionals. He also coached her in the 2011 U.S. Championships at the University of Oregon, in Eugene, Oregon. Robinson has worked extensively with John Godina, four-time world champion and nine-time Olympic and World Championship medal recipient in both the shot put and the discus. Coach Robinson’s throwing philosophy is heavily infl uenced by both John Godina and Adriane Blewitt.

Ray Robinson

Jonathan Graupmann is in his fi rst season at Tiffi n. Prior to TU, he coached sprints and hurdles at Marietta College. During those two seasons, he helped lead Marietta to 53 All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors

and 10 All-Conference relays. Amongst his other coaching accomplishments, he aided athletes in becoming National qualifi ers and garnering three Division II All-American honors, including coaching the 2011 OAC Men’s Harrison Dillard Most Outstanding Sprint Athlete. In 2010 he was part of the OAC Women’s Indoor Coaching Staff of the Year.

While coaching at Dixie Heights High School (KY) in 2008, Graupmann coached the KHSAA Class 3A Individual State Champion in the Boys 300 meter hurdles. He also has coaching experience with the Northern Kentucky Track Club. Graupmann is USATF Level 2 certifi ed in sprints, hurdles, and relays and also has certifi cation as USATF Level 2 Endurance and USATF Emerging Elite Coaches Camp for sprints, hurdles, and relays.

Graupmann earned his Bachelors degree in History from Ohio Northern in 2007. While competing at ONU, he earned All-American honors in 2005 and was 5-time OAC champion. Graupmann is working on his Masters and resides in Tiffi n.

Steve Livoti is in his third season at Tiffi n. He works primarily with hurdlers and sprinters.

Livoti is a native of Tiffi n who has taught World Studies at Lakota Schools for 30 years. He has coached track for 33 years

and was head boy’s and girl’s track coach for 24 of those years.

Livoti accumulated a record of 2028 wins and 908 losses. He has had athletes who have represented Lakota High School for 27 of the last 33 years in the state championship. In 1987, the Lakota girls track team won the State Championship.

Livoti taught education classes at Heidelberg from 2006 to 2009. He received the Bob Cline Longevity Award for 30 plus years of coaching and was nominated in 2010 for the Ohio Track and Field Hall of Fame Fred Daffl er Longevity Award. Steve is married to Kathy and they have two children, Kara and Tony.

Sirena Williams is in her fi rst season at Tiffi n. She will be coaching the long sprinters.

Prior to TU, Williams was the assistant coach at Feather River College (Calif.). She was the main recruiter for cross country

and track & fi eld. Williams was head coach at South River HS, helping the squad break 19 school records. The SRHS girl’s team won the 2010 Indoor Regional Championship; fi rst team title since 1983. She also produced fi ve high school All-County team championships and 39 State Qualifi ers (seven placed in the top eight at the Maryland State Track & Field Championships), and four nationally ranked athletes.

Williams spent four years at Suitland HS, as an assistant for the fi rst three years and the head women’s coach the fourth year. During her four years, Williams helped guide the boys program to four State Championship titles.

Williams started her track journey at Central High School in 1993. By the end of her high school career, Williams was an eight-time Maryland State Champion, running events ranging from the short sprints to the hurdles. She made the all-county team several times and was voted to the Washington Post’s 1996-97 All-Met Track and Field Team. Williams was an integral part of Central winning two Maryland State Championship. She then attended the University of Connecticut as a member of the track program on an athletic scholarship.

Williams holds USATF Level II Certifi cation in Sprints, Hurdles, and Relays. Williams is also a USATFNC Certifi ed Offi cial specialized as a Starter.

Williams, a Maryland native, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication Processes from the University of Connecticut in 2001. She is currently in pursuit of her MBA in Sports Management.

Campaign ObjectivesRecreation Center$9,400,000The Recreation Center will consist of two connected buildings: a fi eld house and an indoor practice facility. The connector will include a lobby and locker room facilities.

Other Campus Development$1,600,000Over the past several decades, TU has created a campus that not only refl ects the University’s own growth and success, but also en-hances the appearance and economic well being of the City of Tiffi n. To continue pursuing the campus master plan, TU seeks $1.6 million for land acquisition, landscaping, parking and others amenities.

Endowed Student Scholarships$1,000,000Without fi nancial aid, many Tiffi n University students could not afford higher education. Since over 80 percent of TU students receive some level of aid, TU leaders seek $1 million to bolster the endowment resources of the University to create additionalstudent scholarships.
