God devices ways to manifest His power and uses different people as instruments of purpose. Care is required at every step all the way not to compromise and thus undermine God’s plan

The story of Samson, teaches us how a journey that started well ended badly because of compromise.

Samson’s mother was barren (both man and the Spirit of God confirmed that she was barren.)

“3 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, “Indeed now, you are barren and have borne no children” _______________ Judges 13:3

But God uses the foolish things of the world to confound the wise. He decided to use the barren:

“4 Now therefore, please be careful not to drink wine or similar drink, and not to eat anything unclean. 5 For behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. And no razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.” _______________ Judges 13:4

Through the woman’s care and obedience, Samson was borne. His parents did not compromise. They asked God for instructions they should hand down to their coming son: “12 Manoah (the father) said to the Angel, “Now let Your words come to pass! What will be the boy’s rule of life, and his work?”

Samson grew nicely according to God’s plan. However as he came to the age of making choices, he began to falter, but God continued to show mercy.

God chose Samson’s mother (barren as it were) to start off a journey he continued on with Samson. Though Samson falter on his way, God was committed to this journey to the extent that no external factor could stop it.

In the journey, lion roared against Samson, wanting to stop him. 6 And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he tore the lion apart as one would have torn apart a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done. ______Judges 14:6

When God sends a man, God helps him clear all obstacles.

19 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon him mightily, and he went down to Ashkelon and killed thirty of their men, took their apparel, and gave the changes of clothing to those who had explained the riddle. So his anger was aroused, and he went back up to his father’s house. 20 And Samson’s wife was given to his companion, who had been his best man.

In Judges 15, Samson’s people bound him with two new ropes and delivered him to the Philistines. 14 …Then the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands. 15 He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and killed a thousand men with it.

20 And he judged Israel twenty years in the days of Philistines.Samson’s doom began when he undermined the secret of His power – disclosing to a woman what God gave to him in secret.

6 So Delilah said to Samson, “Please tell me where your great strength lies, and with what you may be bound to afflict you.”16 And it came to pass, when she pestered him daily with her words and pressed him, so that his soul was vexed to death, 17 that he told her all his heart, and said to her, “No razor has ever come upon my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaven, then my strength will leave me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.”

18 When Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, “Come up once more, for he has told me all his heart.” So the lords of the Philistines came up to her and brought the money in their hand. 19 Then she lulled him to sleep on her knees, and called for a man and had him shave off the seven locks of his head. Then she began to torment him,[a] and his strength left him.

______________Judges 16

“Therefore, whoever thinks he is standing securely should watch out so he doesn't fall.” ___________1 Corinthians 10:12 May the tragedy of Samson not be our portion. May we start and finish well without the compromise that undermines God plan.

The Transformation of The Transformation of NationsNations

Join us as we Pray for Nations in 2012.Prayer format:

1prayer for the leadershipIn 2 king 2, 19 The people said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”20 “Bring me a new bowl,” he said, “and put salt in it.” So they brought it to him.21 Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, “This is what the LORD says: ‘I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.’” 22 And the water has remained pure to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.

Brethren, let us pray for all nations that have been blessed by God with resources and yet are suffering because of poor leadership.God says through our prayers, our land will be healed. (2 Chron 7:14-16)The earth is the Lord’s and God rules over the Nations (Psalm 22:28)We are the salt of the world. I stand on this authority and pour out salt upon:-Every seed of corruption in nations-Every seed of incompetence-Every seed of unrepentant heart
