Themain concept of the firedetection requirements i s notchanged, however, severalclarifications andinterpretations have now beenimplemented as part of theFSS Code. Highlighted hereare: Approval standards foressential components such ascontrol panels, detectors,manual call points, and cableshave been def ined;clarification of which other fire

    safety systems (previouslyonly fire doors) may receiveoutput signals from the firedetection system; acceptablearrangements for powersupply have been def inedincluding required capacity incase back-up power isprovided from batteries;protection of staircases havebeen clarified (detector at toplevel and ev ery second levelbelow); and ac ceptabletemporary disconnection ofdetectors for particular spaces.
