The Light of Springthroughout the years with Forever, i have heard and even been associated with a great expression, “if you are not having fun, you are not doing it right!” i have used this quote myself many times over the past 30 years of traveling the Forever world. it has always been a very apt quote but never more so than now. as i read the same newspapers and watch the same news programs as you do, i am subject to a tirade of bad news and a list of all the things that are wrong in our economy and in our world. Of course we do not live in a perfect world, and i do not mean to suggest that the good families throughout the world who are suffering financial hardship at this time are not victims of a significant downturn. but i would like for a moment to suggest another way of looking at things.

i know for some of us it is hard to imagine that spring is just around the corner, as you are still ‘enjoying’ sub-zero temperatures and maybe haven’t seen the sun for a little while. however, i can guarantee that all of nature is just holding its breath waiting to (excuse the pun!) spring forward and jump into the new and beautiful season. Robin williams, the comedian and actor, said it perfectly: “spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘let’s party!’” in the next couple of weeks we will see examples of this party everywhere. the snow will melt, giving way to a lush landscape. we will see the new lambs running around the field of green grass. we will enjoy the breathtaking symphony of colors as wild flowers compete for the bee’s attention. it is like the start of a new football season when everything is possible. this is the start of the new season for each one of us as well; everything is possible. we are living in a world where people are looking at alter-natives both for income and health. the so-called traditional methods of earning an income and improving our health have been brought into question, while what we have been saying for 30 years, that “there is an alternative”, is being taking more and more seriously everyday. so we have a responsibility to get it right. don’t take any opportunity to legitimately share your business with someone for granted. Every moment that a prospect gives you is a gift. so prepare well for when that moment arises.

gregg and gary have just returned from a very successful trip to africa, and they were both touched and thrilled to see what is happening there. aidan just flew home from a European trip that took him to lithuania, England, spain and Romania, and he reports that we are making a good start to the year there as well. next week i am leaving for hong Kong for a Rally with my Forever friends. then i go back over to los angeles, where i will be with all of you at the north american Rally. From there i head to beautiful southern spain, to share in the excitement of the European Rally & profit share event. Rumor has it that we will be awarding over $8 million in one day. talk about fun and looking at things from a different point of view! in a world of downsizing, Forever will be giving out millions of dollars in one day! and that is on top of the millions we pay out every month in your bonuses.

all of us here at the Forever home Office and in our offices around the world are looking at this spring as a new and vibrant opportunity to make our great company better every day by improving the services we offer to our distributors and their customers. we are working tirelessly right now on the new products for 2009. we continue to make huge investments throughout our supply chain to bring our products to you in a faster and more cost effective manner. and we are updating our it structures on a daily basis to keep up with the speed of change in that area. i hope you had the opportunity to view the new year’s webcast a couple of weeks ago. if not you can view the recording of it on the front page of foreverliving.com.

Message from the Chairman

A FOREVER UPDATE“Unbelievable” was all I could think as I watched the devastation in Japan on the day Gregg and I were preparing to depart to join many of our Japanese friends for their annual rally. Much like Gregg explained in the letter he wrote shortly after the event, my immediate thoughts went out to our people in Japan, many of whom I have known for decades. I wondered if they and their families were alright and what tremendous devastation this disaster would have on their lives.

As I write this letter I am pleased to announce that we have not lost any staff members or distributors. There has been tremendous property loss but that can be rebuilt. However, our thoughts and prayers go out to the thousands of families who have lost loved ones or who still may be searching for missing family members.

In the days following the disaster I spoke with Rjay about his and Annie’s experience there. Of all that Rjay explained, the one fact I was most impressed with was how incredibly well the Japanese people responded to the event. From all reports and from what Rjay witnessed, the people were calm, well organized, and orderly. So often we hear of the chaos that ensues in a disaster such as this, but I have not heard any reports of such behavior. In fact it has been quite the opposite. Let me share just a few stories I have read.

In an Associated Press article I read of the tsunami-struck city of Karakuwa. There may have been no water, no power and no cell phone reception, but in the school that serves as a shelter the people came together to support each other until the relief supplies started to trickle in.

“For a long time, in the countryside, even if you didn’t have enough for yourself, you shared with others,” said Noriko Sasaki, 63, as she sat on the ground outside a relief centre in the town. “That is our culture. Even if they’re not relatives, we feel as if they’re sisters or brothers.”

In the flattened town of Shizugawa, Koji Sato, a carpenter who usually builds homes, is making coffins. He said he hasn’t had time to really think about the hardship he’s faced. “All I have been doing is making coffins.”In another school kitchen, teachers, mothers of students and the newly homeless prepared three meals and two snacks a day. In the middle of one classroom, a group of boys sat around a table, the bowls of stew sending plumes of steam into the air. In unison, they bowed their heads.

“Thank you,” they said. “For everything.”

That is the message of hope I would like to leave each of you. In spite of whatever difficulties may come in our lives, we must find ways to be thankful for what we have and find ways to reach out to help others. I am reminded of the famous statement, “I complained because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet.”

We need to remember that the most effective medicine for the sickness of self-pity is to lose oneself in the service of others. Gregg has asked all of us to do what we can to help with the devastation in Japan. I whole-heartedly join my voice to that call.

Even after the long months of recovery by Japan, and after the marvelous people in this powerful nation have rebuilt their lives, there will be many people throughout the world who will need our help. We never have to look very far for people in need. They are all around us. And as I have said many times before, often the best way to help someone is to introduce them to the health and wealth benefits of Forever.

In closing this month, I again want to send my thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan. I know that through their selfless dedication to each other and their country they will rebuild from this devastation to be stronger than ever before. There truly are NO LIMITS to what people can accomplish when they selflessly work together in a great cause.

I was particularly impressed by the training given by Double Diamond Manager, Rolf Kipp, who has a massive stunning Forever business. Here are his secrets to building a business of greatness.

1. If you want something great, do it in a simple way!2. Growth is only achievable with new people. Your business will only grow by adding new Distributors.3. The distribution and volume of products sold, is governed by and is a consequence of, finding new Distributors.4. Put people in a simple duplicable system.5. Focus on the essential products, the most popular ones.6. How we find new people. Use the success attraction cycle. First promote and advertise - you must invest to attract. Second refer respondents to your website. Third ask them to e-mail you to confirm their interest and when they do, phone them to schedule an appointment, nothing else. Then in the first meeting explain, register them with a first test order only so they can try products. At a second meeting with them make a name list together, set targets and goals, get another order then repeat this system again and again to achieve success.

The message is don’t complicate everything. Don’t study and train so you know every little thing. Just do the simple basics right and you will succeed!
