Introduction The president introduces the celebration using these words: Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, during Lent we have been preparing by works of love and self-sacrifice for the celebration of our Lord’s death and resurrection. Today we come together to being this solemn celebration in union with the Church throughout the world. Christ enters his own city to complete his work as our Saviour, to suffer, to die, and to rise again. Let us go with him in faith and love, so that, united with him in his sufferings, we may share his risen life. The people hold up palms or branches while this prayer is said by the president: God our Saviour, whose Son Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem as Messiah to suffer and to die; let these palms be for us signs of his victory and grant that we who bear them in his name may ever hail him as our King, and follow him in the way that leads to eternal life; who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. 21 When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, ‘Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, just say this, “The Lord needs them.” And he will send them immediately.’ 4 This took place to fulfil what had been spoken through the prophet, saying,

5 ‘Tell the daughter of Zion, Look, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; 7 they brought the donkey and the colt, and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them. 8 A very large crowd[b] spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,

The Nicene Creed

Let us together affirm the faith of the Church. We believe in one God, the Father, the almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We pray for The Diocese of Jerusalem and Middle East; The Diocese of Bunbury; Korowa Anglican Girls' School; St Faith's Burwood; Parish of Box Hill – pastoral visit; Church of the Ascension Springvale – confirmation; St Clements Elsternwick; Brimbank Parish – pastoral visit. We pray for our ministry team: Graham, Jessica, Norman, Helen, Leonie, Ros & Pam - and for all who serve within the parish. We pray for all who are working on the building project and for its successful completion; and our Bishops Philip and Barbara.

We pray for those called to find a new Incumbent for this place. Bountiful God, give to this parish a faithful pastor who will faithfully speak your word and minister your sacraments; an encourager who will equip your people for ministry and enable us to fulfil our calling. Give to those who will choose, wisdom, discernment and patience, and to us give warm and generous hearts, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

We do not presume to come to your table, merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose nature is always to have mercy. Grant us, therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Holy Week and Easter We have now arrived at the business end of Lent. Our readings on Sundays have taken through the various “signs” and prophecies that point forward to this moment of crisis, a pivotal moment in history and one that provides HOPE for a world caught up in the darkness of chaos and sin. Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, and the beginning of the days that will lead to his betrayal and crucifixion. I encourage you by participating in all, or at least as many of the services that you can. I have produced a form of “Stations of The Cross” that has been prepared by the Church of England Liturgical Committee. It is Gospel based and a powerful and prayerful preparation for Good Friday and Easter. Stephen and I have picked some new, appropriate music for use this week, which we believe will greatly enrich our worship. The other services all mark the significant events of Holy Week; Jesus washing the Disciples Feet, The Last Supper, Gethsemane, The Betrayal, Trial, Crucifixion and of course, Jesus’ Resurrection. I commend your full participation in this Journey. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that all who believe in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.” I hope you have a truly Blessed Easter experiencing more deeply its Hope and Joy.

ANGLICAN BOARD OF MISSION AUSTRALIA Envelopes for A.B.M’S Good Friday Appeal are available. This Appeal supports the work of the Anglican Church in both Gaza and the West Bank, supporting Anglican hospitals and Medical Centres there. HOLY TRINITY KEW - “When 2 or 3 are gathered …….” Home Group Meetings

Arising from recent Home Group Meetings, [held as a result of invitations in the pew sheet] a number of issues and questions were raised. These included: Does Holy Trinity Kew need to change in order to survive and grow in the future? How do we encourage young people and families to join our community of faith? What are the strengths of Holy Trinity Kew as a parish? What are the weaknesses of Holy Trinity Kew as a parish? Do we preserve a traditional liturgy? Should we explore other types of service that may appeal to young people and families? What initiatives would encourage our local community to become involved in Holy Trinity Kew? What should Holy Trinity Kew do attract newcomers to the parish? What kind of changes to Holy Trinity Kew would you accept if it meant future parish growth? Would you contribute towards a specific funding for new growth initiatives?

Your ideas and thoughts are invited concerning these and any other issues about Holy Trinity Kew and its future success as a thriving traditional Anglican parish. The widest possible range of opinions and ideas are sought to encourage an informed and diverse discussion about the future of our parish. Your written opinions or any direct participation in Home Group discussion would be most welcome.
