The term “community” is at the heart of any community college’s mission. Coastal Bend College takes our commitment to the communities we serve to heart in everything we do.

At CBC, we thrive on creating a community college experience that focuses squarely on student success.

Our main campus is located in beautiful Beeville, Texas. Beeville is home to many great local restaurants, businesses, and friendly Texans. Conveniently located within 1-2 hours of major metropolitan cities, Beeville is an ideal location to start your education and enjoy all that South Texas has to offer. Cowboy boots are optional.

Coastal Bend College also proudly serves the cities of Alice, Kingsville, and Pleasanton, Texas, as well as their surrounding communities. CBC has sites in each of these cities that offer many of the same affordable, quality academic and workforce courses offered on our main campus.

All of our locations feature state-of-the-art computer labs and equipment, knowledgeable and talented faculty, and a dedicated and friendly team of staff members ready to help you succeed. It’s all part of our commitment to student success, and it’s part of our South Texas charm.

Our courses and programs are offered during the daytime, evening, and even weekends. Although we’d love to see you in-person, CBC offers many courses online allowing you to work on your degree at any time and any place with an Internet connection.

Small town college. Endless possibilities. Start at CBC.

At CBC, we understand that being enrolled in college can be stressful, so our student services staff works hard to provide free opportunities for students to have fun and socialize with their peers. From movie nights and festivals to dance parties and concerts, each CBC location hosts several activities each month that are open to all students. You can view descriptions of these events by viewing the Student Activity Calendars on our publications page at www.coastalbend.edu/publications.

In addition to free student activities, CBC also provides free services to help ensure student success—after all, that’s what we care about most. We provide student success and career development services for students to take advantage of such as free tutoring, skills workshops, resume/job search assistance, and study socials. Most times, we’ll even feed you. We also have a free online job portal, CBC Works, that can help you find a great job or career.

As a student, you’ll be able to cheer on your favorite CBC National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association (NJCAA) team. We have 6 athletic teams that feature top-notch student athletes from all over the world. You can enjoy women’s volleyball, basketball, and softball, and men’s soccer, basketball and baseball. Games are free for all students to attend. Go Cougars!

And if you’re not busy enough attending free activities, studying, or rooting for your fave CBC team, we also have many active student organizations such as the Radiology Club, Student Government Association, and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society that you can join.

Simply put–CBC puts the life into student life.

Whether you want to graduate and enter the workforce, or get your basics/core out of the way and transfer to a university, we’ve got you covered.

Our workforce programs are constantly evolving to meet the demands of the Coastal Bend job market, and with our small class sizes you’re sure to get the hands on training you need to succeed. At CBC, we want you to have HIRE expectations. Our programs lead to great careers.

If you want to get your basics done with us, that’s great! As a bonus, you’ll likely save hundreds or thousands of dollars as compared to going straight to a university. And let’s not forget that the basics/core curriculum is guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas.

At CBC, we have faculty and staff dedicated to helping you every step of the way. In summer 2013 we launched CBC Smart Start—the college’s Quality Enhancement Plan to help boost student success. As part of CBC Smart Start, all students will have a dedicated faculty advisor based on their major to help them from the first day of their classes until they walk the stage at graduation.

Ready to be part of the CBC family? Then head on over to www.coastalbend.edu/applynow to submit your free admissions application. After that, you should meet with a Student Development Specialist at any CBC location to discuss your educational goals, special needs, or to check if you need to take any placement exams. We can’t wait to see you!

Great things start at CBC.

Did you know that CBC is one of the few rural community colleges to offer on-campus housing? At our CBC Beeville campus, we have affordable residence hall and student apartments that are available to full-time students.

At our residence hall, Benton Hall, we have suite-style rooms that are spacious and furnished with everything you need. The residence hall with required meal plan is about $2,300 per semester, and that includes 15 meals a week, rent, electricity, Internet and cable. Plus, there are many free recreational and academic activities exclusively for residence hall students. An RA (resident assistant) is always on call, which means assistance is just a phone call away.

Right across from campus are our student apartments. They are fully equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom to ensure a comfortable, safe environment. Apartments cost $600 a month (or $300 per roommate), and they include all utilities except cable. To learn more about housing at CBC visit www.coastalbend.edu/housing. All housing applications must be submitted with a $250 security deposit.

We have a variety of financial aid programs available to students that help pay for tuition and fees at CBC. Every incoming student is encouraged to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.gov. Remember to use CBC’s school code of 003546 so we can get your application. CBC’s FAFSA priority deadline is May 1, and students who submit their FAFSA by May 1 typically receive more grants than those who apply after that deadline. After you submit your FAFSA, you’ll receive paperwork from CBC in the mail– make sure to fill that out and turn it back into the CBC Financial Aid Office.

Over the past 5 years, CBC has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to students. We consider it an investment in your future and an investment in the communities we serve. Applying for a CBC Scholarship is simple–you can download the application at the CBC scholarship website: www.coastalbend.edu/scholarships. The scholarship application deadline is April 1. On our scholarship website, you’ll also find links and information to other scholarships that can help fund your education.

We also have a Veterans Affairs Specialist to help veterans, and/or their dependents, utilize VA benefits. Learn more at www.coastalbend.edu/veteransaffairs.
