The mission of Team Activities for

Special Kids is to enrich and nurture

the lives of children with special

    needs by providing opportunities

for them to participate in sports,

    recreation and social activities.

    2013 Recap

Since moving into the building, we have

created a soccer field, a grass softball

field, turf tee ball field, turf putting green,

a sensory room, first aid station, life skills

lab and tripled the size of the kitchen for

our cooking and life skills classes.

2013 marked the first full year

    of programming at our new

home in Fenton. The year was

    filled with milestones and and

    growth. This year TASK

    offered 29 (50% more than

    2012) different programs

    including individual and

team sports as well as social

    programs. Throughout the

    year TASK saw 1,918

    participants (over a 60%

    increase from 2012) benefit

    from our programs.

    Who Participates At TASK?

    5

TASK offers programs to individuals with all

kinds of special needs. We are able to adapt

and modify our programs to meet the needs

of our participants to make everyone achieve

success. Individuals with a variety of

    disabilities participate at TASK including

but not limited to: Individuals with Autism,

    Asperger’s Syndrome, ADD/ADHD, Down

    Syndrome, Hearing Impairments, Intellectual

    Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Visual

    Impairments, Speech Impairments, and

    Physical Impairments.

How We Do ItWhat We Do

    7

In order to meet the needs of our participants,

TASK utilizes volunteers from a variety of

    backgrounds including certified regular education

    teachers, special education teachers, adaptive

    physical education teachers, occupational

    therapists, speech-language pathologists,

    teaching assistants, coaches, parents, college

students and high school students. In order

to sustain the programming and the facility,

TASK relies on grants, donations, sponsorships,

    fundraisers and program fees.

The mission of Team Activities for Special Kids

is to enrich the lives of kids with special needs

by providing athletic and social opportunities.

We strongly believe that positive self-esteem

in all individuals leads to overall happiness.

Through our programs, we help individuals

with special needs achieve success, which in

    turns increases self-confidence which leads

    to higher self-esteem.

    Our FutureConnection to the Community

    In February 2012, TASK moved

into a facility in Fenton Missouri.

This was made possible by a

    culmination of years of fundraising

and through the launch of a capital

    campaign. Improvements still

    scheduled include renovation of the

current gym to include an elevated

    walking track, 3 basketball courts,

    3 volleyball courts, a dance/drama

studio and added storage. We plan

    to complete the capital campaign

    during the fall of 2014.

Since 1996, TASK has provided a service to

the community unlike any other. Through

    acceptance, support and encouragement, TASK

provides our athletes a safe environment where

all experience success. TASK also provides

families with a support system of camaraderie

with other parents, siblings and family

members. In addition, we have provided a place

for our volunteers to help the community and

learn about others’ experiences, TASK has also

cemented relationships with local and national

companies and corporations who help the

program through financial support and/or other

donations. Optimist clubs, Knight of Columbus

Chapters and American Legion Posts all have

supported our program in a variety of ways

    over the years.

From the Director TASK Financial Report

We are thrilled to be entering our 18th year of existence at TASK. The last two years have been very exciting as we have moved into our new home and are working hard to make the property fit our participant’s needs. TASK has grown from one summer sport of tee ball with 27 players to a year round organization that offers programming in sports, recreation, life skills and social opportunities to over 1900 participants in 2013.

Since we moved into our new home, construction has been completed on our kitchen, sensory room, first aid station, life skills lab, putting green, softball/tee ball fields, and soccer field. Lights will be added to our soccer field and a fishing dock will be added to our pond/pavilion area this spring. We are also very excited to begin construction on our new gym which will include three basketball/volleyball courts and a walking track for our participants to enjoy.

I would like to thank all of our donors who have contributed to TASK over the last year. Our kids need a safe, accepting and supportive place to play and be themselves. You have helped that place become a reality. Thank you for supporting TASK and helping us make a difference in the lives of kids with special needs.

I would like to ask and encourage all of you to continue contributing to our Capital Campaign. TASK still has a ways to go to close out the campaign and we continue to need your help. Many areas are still on the drawing board including a weight room, an art studio, a parent lounge, and an all inclusive playground. TASK has received a pledge for $100,000.00 matching donation to be used for our playground so please consider donating to help us construct a place where all TASK participants can play safely and independently.

Please know that your continued dedication and support is greatly appreciated. At TASK, we work very hard to build self esteem in our kids with special needs. All of you have helped build self esteem and self confidence in our participants by helping provide a place for them to play. We thank you!

Thanks to your generous contributions of financial

support and the ”too many to count” volunteer

hours; we have taken big steps to increase our

footprint on the lives of children with special

needs. We are resolute in our commitment to

enrich and nurture the lives of as many kids with

    special needs as possible.

To do so will require your continued support if we

are to reach more of these children, who would

aim higher and achieve more if they experienced

the personal success our programs inspire. As

we expand our vision and build our capacity to

better serve our children and families throughout

the region, we would be grateful to have you

as a partner. Your support can be in the form of

a donation, pledge to our capital campaign or

    sponsorship of our fundraising events.
