Dear KISC Community, As we move into the final term of this academic year, the SMC would like to thank each and every single one of you for your prayers and for your support. Term 3 came to a close with the resignations of Judith Ellis, CEO; Laura-Beth Webster, Primary Principal; and Marcy Knoble, SMC Chairperson, being announced to the community. In light of these resignations, the SMC would like to inform you of the steps being taken to ensure KISC continues to excel. As Term 4 has already begun, our priority is to ensure that we are able to see the year end well. We are now in a period of transition but with the cooperation of our staff and the community, we believe Term 4 will run smoothly. To help mediate we are blessed to have Astrid Smith step in as Primary Coordinator for Term 4, please do pray for her in this role. Over the upcoming weeks we will also be looking ahead at the new academic year. The SMC is reviewing the structure of the school and we will be spending much time in prayer and in discussion as we seek ways to strengthen KISC. In preparing for the new academic year we will also be recruiting new staff to join us. If you and/or your mission know of experienced educators who could contribute and benefit from being at a cross cultural and inter-denominational school such as KISC please let us know! A list of positions will be made available soon. We have a busy few months before the school year ends, but we trust that God’s guiding hand is upon us and that He is leading the school in a direction that will enable us to continue to live out our values of Love, Grace, Justice, Community, and Excellence. The SMC will be communicating with the KISC community in the weeks to come and we seek your love and grace as we move forward together. As an SMC, we ask you to continue to pray for us, pray for the leadership of the school, pray for the gifted staff and students, and please pray for our beautifully diverse community. Our desire is to foster an environment that is educational beyond the classroom and we look forward to you being a part of that! FUNDRAISING

A team from Hamilton & Alexandra Acadamy Australia who came to Nepal over the April term break to trek to Everest Base Camp and present KISC with some funds that were raised for KISC EQUIP.

The team, led by Bruce Simons (principal) visited KISC and presented a cheque to KISC EQUIP for AUS$3,000 (2,73,000NRS) and some footballs. The funds were raised by three students from the school (Grace Burgoyne, Clare Jackson and Madeleine Bradbeer - see below) in a bake sale. Bruce was introduced to the work of EQUIP through Jennifer Bird, ex-KISC Teacher. The team of visitors were then joining 3 other colleagues to undertake a sponsored trek to Everest Base Camp.

The school is continuing to raise funds for KISC EQUIP. Many thanks to all those who have given of their time, talents and money to bless KISC and Nepal.

BlEss ThE BlockLast term Year 10 students blessed the community by picking up litter around the block as part of their community connection hours.

The students had a fantastic attitude despite the rain and set a great example to our wider community.

Collectively they managed to fill one full bad each and we all had an ice cream to celebrate.

Well done year 10.

To start the term, year 7 in their DEsign TEchnology class learnt how to make fabric hair grips with Mrs Padgett's mum, Mrs Wilkins.

Mrs Wilkins is a textile teacher in Australia and it was great to have her share her expertise. The fabric hair grips are called Yoyo's in Australia or Suffolk puffs in UK.They are simple and easy to make, plus they look lovely.

Thank you Mrs Wilkins from year 7 and Miss Parr

EQUIP has successfully started training for the Academic year 2014-15 in Lamjung and Palpa. Phase I training was conducted in Lamjung from April

15-20 and in Palpa from April 17-26. Huge thanks to Shanti Treese for conducting Maths training in Lamjung. Thanks to Khim Kandel, Binod Gaire, Dil Chhetri, Krishna Bohora, Liz Shepherd, Sandra Oh (and her church members) and Rae Goss for their trainings and activities in these project areas.

Below Rae is conducting her first training in Kitchen garden with the teachers of Bethel School in Palpa.

Having the opportunity to show off the work of KISC EQUIP to the team from my church that came for a two-week mission trip made me so proud to be part of an organisation that does such wonderful work to bring positive change to people’s lives through improvements in education.

After a week in Kathmandu partnering with Mercy Mission Home (an orphanage run by some KISC parents) we headed to Lamjung with the EQUIP team to get involved with several of our partner schools in the area. We spent the five days painting classrooms, reading stories and doing activities with the students. We were also privileged to do an overnight stay in the village of one of the school principals, which gave the team some insights into life in rural Nepal.

Getting to spend lots of time with Khim Kandel and Binod Gaire was definitely a highlight for many on the team. The stories they shared helped them to better understand Nepali culture and the challenges that EQUIP faces in bringing transformation to education in Nepal.

I’m so thankful for the partnership between KISC EQUIP and my church in Australia and am excited that through this experience, the work of EQUIP will be made known in even more parts of the world.
