summoned $y a "eeping child to &isit her dying mother? $ut on arri&ing found that

his i$le ended "ith the !8 !he N! "ith all its promises of hea&en had disappearedfrom his i$le8 He $o"ed his head and "ept in $itter despair? for he could offer her
