Felicia Cappabi-anca enters her seventh season in charge of the Drew field hockey program. In seven years, Cappabian-ca has led the Rangers to 71 wins, ranking her second all-time in Drew history. She has compiled five seasons with 11 or more wins including a 15-win season in 2010.

Under her guidance, the Rangers have appeared in back-to-back Landmark Conference Championship games. In 2011 Rangers secured their first home playoff game since 2004 after boasting a 4-2 record in Landmark Conference regular season. The Rangers marched back to the championship game in 2012 after an overtime win over Scranton for the second year in a row.

In her tenure in Madison the Rangers have made five Landmark Conference playoff appearances and three Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournaments (ECAC). She is the only coach in Drew field hockey his-tory to have led her team to both a conference cham-pionship game and an ECAC final. Cappabianca has coached 24 All-Conference players, four of All-Region honorees and three Landmark Conference Offensive Players of the Year. In 2012, four players were First Team All-Conference selections, setting a new program record.

A standout collegiate player herself, Cappabianca was a four year starter for Boston University. She was a National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-American, a two-time All-Conference selection and a two-time conference champion. As a tri-captain, Cap-pabianca played in a school-record 86 games and compiled career totals of 22 goals and seven assists for 51 points.

Upon graduating, Cappabianca returned home to New Jersey and began her coaching career. For one year she coached her high school alma mater, West Essex Regional, and was an assistant to the Montclair State University field hockey program. From 2003 to 2006, Cappabianca returned to the Division I ranks as an assistant at the University of New Hamp-shire. While at UNH she was responsible for all aspects of recruiting, scouting and program operations.

Cappabianca continues to play field hockey after college and competed at the national level in 2006 as a member of New England Fire, a United States High Performance Training team.

She was a three-time all-conference selection, including two first team nods, and two-time NFHCA All-Region selection.

Her senior year, the Rangers led the Landmark Conference in scoring with the help of a career-high 11 goals and eight assists from DiBattista. She was voted for the second-straight season as the team’s Most Valuable Player and was one of 30 seniors to be selected to the NFHCA Senior All-Star Game.

Off the field, she was a three-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll member and a two-time NFHCA Academic Award win-ner. In 2009 she won the Landmark Conference Senior Scholar Athlete Award, the league’s most prestigious academic award.

Euclid Mahon is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Drew University field hockey team. He also coached the New York City women’s open team at the Empire State Games from 1987 to 2002, and led the team to the gold medal in 1993 as well as four bronze

The storied field hockey program at Drew University proved once again that it is a program on the rise. The 2012 Rangers reached their second-straight Landmark Confer-ence Championship appearance in 2012 and qualified for the ECAC Tournament for the second time under Head Coach Felicia Cappabianca.

Coaches and teams took notice of the tremendous talent of the Rangers in 2012. A program-record, four players from the 2012 squad were First Team All-Conference selections. Junior forward Brooke Gagliano had a breakout year, earning Landmark Conference Offensive Player Honors. She becomes the third player under Felicia Cap-pabianca to be voted the league’s top offensive player.

For the fifth time in six years the Rangers registered double-digit wins, winning 12 games in 2012. With a conference record of 4-2, Drew earned the second seed in the league tournament. The Rangers were pitted against third-seeded Scranton in the opening round of the playoffs. Gagliano scored the game’s final two goals including the game-winner, two minutes into overtime for the 2-1 victory.

Matching up against the top-seeded Catholic University Cardinals, the Rangers had a second-half comeback fall short. The Cardinals edged the Rangers 3-2 and won their second-consecutive conference crown. The Rangers ended their season in the first round of the ECAC tournament falling to Lebanon Valley, 6-1.
