Who’s New?, What’s New? Event/workshop hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team
Explanation: This event will be a continuation of the Meet and Greets. We will need to continue to network and collaborate. These meetings will differ from the Meet and Greets-‐ we hope to begin to include major dept. updates, team builder (vs. icebreakers), any possible trainings, etc. Dates: September-‐ College of Liberal Arts Advising Center October-‐ College of Fine Arts Advising Center November-‐ College of Science and Engineering Advising Center January 2014-‐ College of Education Advising Center February 2014-‐ College of Applied Arts Advising Center March 2014-‐ McCoy College of Business Advising Center April 2014-‐ College of Health Professions Advising Center Invitations: Invitations to advisors will be sent by email, while supervisors and AA2 will receive postcard invitation. Refreshments: We are requesting a small fruit tray and tray of cookies/brownies (whatever dessert).
Birthday Celebrations hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: Birthdays are an important individual celebration and we want to mark this special day. We would like to celebrate with dessert once a month and decorate individual office doors and present a card on each birthday. Decoration would consist of a birthday banner. Dates: Only one day of the month will be chosen to celebrate that month of birthdays. March15th-‐ Dr. Brown May 17th-‐ Claudia, Jeanette, Burel June 14th-‐ Neal, Janet July 26th-‐ Adele, Robbie, Jaimie, Ashley September 20th-‐ Juan October 18th-‐ Angie November 15th-‐ Lupe December 13th-‐ Michelle, Stephanie January 2014-‐ Ryanne Invitations: This will be sent by email. Refreshments: We are requesting a small cake or tray of desserts. Anniversary of Start Date Celebrations hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and
Greet Team Explanation: Our start dates reflects the start of our journey with Texas State-‐ PACE Center. Persistence and continued commitment should be recognized and congratulated. Dates: February 15th: Angie, Stephanie, Jeanette May 28th-‐ Juan, Ryanne June 25th-‐ Ashley, Lupe July 9th-‐ Burel August 16th-‐ Janet January 2014-‐ Robbie, Neal, Adele, Jaimie Materials: A recognition email and certificate will be sent to each individual.
Valentine’s Day Cards for Kids hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: We will create cards for kids that will be spending Valentine’s Day in the hospital. The cards will be mailed to Mix 94.7 radio station, which will then deliver them to the children. February is all about spreading the love-‐-‐-‐ we have a lot of it to give! The objective of this activity is to immerse Texas State-‐ PACE Center into our local community. Dates: February 5th and 6th The materials will be available for advisors these two days. They will need to be mailed by the 6th-‐ as they must arrive by the 8th. Materials: Cards, construction paper, glitter, etc.
Relay for Life Promotion hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: We will create temporary plaques that can be added to our tack boards by office doors that will reflect “This advisor is a supporter/participate in the April Relay for Life Event” By encouraging participation we will have more PACE representatives at the race which will continue our immersion of Texas State-‐ PACE Center into our local community. Dates: Race Date-‐ April 12th Promotion and plaque distribution will begin the week of March 18th. Beginning the week of April 8th-‐ distribution and motivation boosters will begin leading up to the race. During this week—those that have signed up to participate will receive a daily “booster” to use while at the race. Materials: Protein bars, Protein shake packets, Trail mix, small games/toys, etc
NSO Half-‐Way Rally hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: This is a moral booster event. NSO is long and exhausting. Again, persistence and continued commitment should be recognized and congratulated. We would like to present a catered lunch. Dates: July-‐ half way date during NSO Refreshments: Lunch
First Day of School Photo hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team
Explanation: This is a fun way to celebrate the first day of class and welcome students back. We would like to take a group photo on the first day of class and post to our Facebook. Dates: August Materials: None Emails will be sent to encourage participation.
Back to School Event hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: We would like to partner with UC and promote/encourage donations to fill a backpack. This is simply a community event to involve PACE. Dates: Promotion would begin September 2nd-‐ tentative Materials: None Emails will be sent weekly to encourage participation.
Halloween Costume Contest hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: This event is meant to create collaboration and socialization with UC. This event will be a Halloween costume contest with rules and categories. Prizes will be given to encourage greater participation. Dates: October 31st Materials: Prizes-‐ TxState goodies Invitations: Will be sent a month in advance.
Food Drive hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: We would like to promote/encourage donations of food for a local food pantry. This is an event to involve PACE in our community. Dates: The drive will begin November 4th and end before Thanksgiving Materials: None Emails will be sent weekly to encourage participation.
Thankful Tom Turkey hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team Explanation: This is be a project that encourages self-‐reflection and ways to be thankful. A turkey will be constructed from paper. The turkey (Tom) will be hung in a community area and paper feathers will be offered to attach to Tom. The advisors will be encouraged to write something they are thankful for on the feathers. Dates: Tom will be hung November 14th Materials: Construction paper, bulk paper roll. Emails will be sent weekly to encourage participation.
Holiday Greetings for Wounded Soldiers hosted by PACE Advising-‐ Meet and Greet Team
Explanation: Cards will created/signed by advisors and then sent to wounded soldiers that will be spending their holiday in the hospital. This is simply a community event to involve PACE. Dates: Material for cards will be available starting December 2nd Materials: Cards, construction paper, glitter, etc Emails will be sent to encourage participation.
