Hull Design: Using computer aided drafting programs, we created hull shapes that were both stable yet fast in the water. Hydrostatic software calculated the stability and wetted surface area of the hull, where upon we could optimize our designs.

3D Modeling: To design the cockpit we used a 3D drafted body and proportionally scaled it to the maximum and minimum size person that we were targeting for the particular model. We then were able to design the general ergonomics of the cockpit for comfort and fit.

Deck Design: We included structural reinforcement into the design, at high stress points, with the actual shape of the boat, to create a stiffer and more durable kayak.

Innovation:Designed for speed and stability, below the waterline the hull is sleek with a low wetted surface area and above, the saxboard flares out a little to provide stability when you need it.

Our 3-point Quick-Release Footbrace provides you with a strong connection to the boat allowing for a complete power transfer on the leg drive.

We also believe in building boats to fit the paddler and their ability. Our SES is a leader in the industry, being hydro-dynamically designed for smaller paddlers.

We included features in the S18S of both a touring kayak and surf ski for greater versatility and it has the stability needed for novice paddlers, yet the speed associated with surf skis to compete.

At Stellar we build advanced composite boats with premium materials imported from around the world and cutting edge aerospace processes. The combination of the decades of experience designing boats and laminates leads to some of the lightest, most durable and stiffest boats on the market!

Materials SummaryCarbon Fiber: The stiffest and lightest of fibers available, but also the most expensive to make.

Woven Carbon Fiber: Very stiff and light weight with strands of fiber in at least 2 directions.

Pre-preg Unidirectional Carbon: This is the most advanced technology, coming from Aerospace. All of the strands of carbon are lined up in one direction and infused with resin by a computer for accuracy.

Kevlar (Aramid Fiber): Very stiff, very light and incredibly tough, but cheaper than carbon to make.

Fiberglass: This is the most affordable of fibers used. Very durable, but not as stiff and light as Carbon or Kevlar fibers.

Nomex Honeycomb Core: Another material from Aerospace, this material is very light and stiff. In a laminate, it creates a sandwich structure, which adds strength and stiffness without weight.

Soric Core: Used as a network for resin to flow through during infusion of the boat. This material adds stiffness and toughness to the boat.

We offer four different laminates available for our range of Kayaks and Surf Skis. We recognize the demand for both high performance boats and affordable boats built to meet the rigors of the environment. Sport ConstructionThis solid fiberglass boat is the most durable laminate of our offering. It is very affordable and it is a great starter boat or for those looking for the performance of a composite boat.

Stellar Kayaks are designed to meet the rigors of the environment where it will be paddled. Double fiberglass taped deck joint ensures a durable bond for those rough days, while the large rubber hatches provide dry storage for your cargo. Each piece of hardware is fastened to the deck has a nut bonded and capped to the boat for a water-proof seal and durable connection.

Surf Ski ConstructionStellar Surf Skis are designed to meet the rigors of the environment where it will be paddled. Every Surf Ski has a through running vertical stringer, fore and aft of the cockpit, to add stiffness to the boat when riding big waves or getting pounded in the surf. The contoured stern deck and curved transition to the bow deck add structural strength to prevent stress fractures and the fiberglass taped seam reinforces the deck joint. Stellar 15’ (S15) Touring KayakThe Stellar 15’ (S15) Touring Kayak was designed for speed and stability for small to medium sized paddlers for touring and fitness paddling. The hull has long water lines and a soft chine and we added a moderate concavity along the keel of the bow and stern to help with tracking in rough conditions. For windy days and following seas, a drop-down rudder off the stern will help keep your course. Higher decks allow for a dryer paddle in rough conditions and a large stern and medium bow compartment provide ample storage for your longer tours.
