Departure April 24th

Students need to arrive at Clarke at 3:50 am. Flights are departing between 6 and 7am. Students will know what bus they have been

assigned to. Buses will be going to different airport

terminals. Label your luggage. Students say goodbyes and load the bus.

Loading Buses

Buses will be in the upper area of the parking lot (parking circle)

Buses will be numbered 1 to 7 with Chaperones and Airlines and group numbers

Students will bring luggage to their assigned bus and load.

The luggage and backpacks will stay with students on the ride to the airport.

No luggage in the aisle.

Airline Expectations

Put luggage in overhead storage bin when you find your aisle and seat.

The gate agent may make us check our luggage at the plane.

Sit in your assigned seats. Backpacks under seat in front of you. Follow TSA rules and regulations. REMEMBER, there are other passengers.

SAFETY The chaperones are here to keep you safe. Never travel alone. Never travel to the bathrooms alone (buddy system). Always be on time (have a watch). Always be where you are supposed to be. Always be respectful of chaperones, bus drivers, tour

guides, and residents. Carry money properly/bring some smaller bills. Chaperone Safety Zone. Chaperones speak- you listen… Don’t be be told twice. Look out for each other.

Student Medication

Any medication that is to be taken by a student must meet the following requirements:

1. A prescriber’s signed order/instructions. 2. Original bottle, with label clearly marked

and legible, dosage must match prescribed amount.

3. Pack only enough for the trip in the original labeled container (including over-the-counter medication).

Student Medication

Daily medications normally held in school are NOT sent on overnight trips.

All medications, including OTC products (Tylenol, Advil, Sudafed, etc.) must be held and administered by the student.

Student need to carry asthma inhalers and Epipens.

Medications that must be held by a chaperone must be delivered to the main office by Monday, April 22nd.

Boys’ Hotel: Mrs. Hogan Girls’ Hotel: Mrs. Kilpatrick, Mrs. Bavin

It there is a circumstance that requires a chaperone to hold medication, please let us know.

STUDENTS: Know when you need to see Mrs. Hogan or Mrs. Kilpatrick in the hotel.

Cell Phones/iPods, etc…

Students can have their cell phones, BUT they are not be used on the bus/airplane or during the day.

You may use them in the evening to call home.

If a chaperone finds a student using a cell phone or iPod inappropriately they will confiscate the phone/iPod.

Parents do not call or text your child during the day.

If you receive a call from your child and you feel uncomfortable PLEASE ask to speak to a chaperone immediately.

Check in at hotels

Stay on bus until luggage is unloaded. Student Key Holders will exit to receive

key and room assignments. Chaperone will hold one key. Students are responsible for bringing

luggage to their room.

Hotel Expectations Room Captains = Key Holder Room Captains should report ANY damage to

their chaperone immediately upon arrival. The hotels are most often frequented by

business people, government officials, and other adults on vacation, students need to respect their privacy.

There will be NO opportunities to use the pools on this trip.

There will be NO opportunities to visit other rooms or the other hotel.

Hotel Safety

Know where your chaperones’ rooms are located.

Never open your door for anyone. Ask who it is and identify the chaperone. Never open for police or anyone else.

Once in your room, you do not come out unless it is a tremendous emergency.

Security guards are at each hotel.

Capital Tours hires guides to assist us. They will provide lots of information

about whatever we see or visit. Give them the respect of listening to

them when they speak.

Student Behavior

In the event of inappropriate behavior, misconduct, or failure to comply with directions, one or more of the following actions may be taken: A meeting with the chaperones or administration resulting in possible restrictions (disciplinary actions in accordance with school policy will be enforced), a phone call home, contact the local authorities and student will be sent home at the expense of the family. In this case, the parents will be responsible for paying the cost of their child and a chaperone.
