Dear Friends of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix,

This past year has been a momentous one. More than 30,000 children and teens had a remarkable year thanks to the support of friends like you.

To kick off the summer, we opened our 13th Club on the Balsz Elementary School campus, the Bob & Renee Parsons Branch, which serves almost 300 kids a day. We also provided 290,166 hot, nutritious meals at no cost to our kids, enhanced our Clubs with renovation projects, and added new sport courts for our very active kids.

The youth we serve rely on us. For so many local kids, our Clubs are the only place to get nutritious meals, have the space and equipment to play and stay fit, and partake in life-changing educational and leadership programs. The Clubs provide a safe place to learn, play and just be a kid.

We take pride in our capacity to teach youth lessons that transcend the classroom, lessons that will help create dynamic adults who have the skills and interest in making an impact in their community. Throughout this report, you will see the many talents and abilities Club kids are honing every day that affect their lives now and in the future.

With even more youth and teens coming through our doors, we need your support to make this all possible. Today, kids want to learn STEM skills for school and their future careers, as well as engage in fun physical activities like archery and creative outlets like Japanese drumming. With your contributions, we can provide programs like these and more to members who love to learn.

Please help BGCMP make 2015-2016 the best year ever for members as they continue their growth and learning.

The Club was not just an after-school program for me. It was a safe haven. A place for me to learn, socialize and be myself.

As a refugee from Africa, my mother worked multiple jobs to make a better life for the two of us in the U.S. While working, she was worried about my safety. Thankfully I had the Club.

Instead of going home to an empty house every day, I went to my Club where I was greeted by Club staff who genuinely cared about my well-being. Becoming Youth of the Year helped me learn to be confident in myself and who I am as a person.

Thank you for giving me and the other Club members chances to learn new things every day.

AZ STAT Crime rates in Phoenix are 49% higher than the national average; in the neighborhoods served by our Clubs, they’re even higher. Cases of juvenile crime nearly double between the hours of 3 and 7 p.m.

AN OPEN DOORBetween membership at 13 Clubs, our Children’s Dental Clinic and youth outreach services, 30,717 youth and teens were impacted by transformative programs and crucial services last year.

BGCMP offers an atmosphere of belonging that allows kids to have fun and socialize with friends while also exercising, learning outside the classroom, and developing skills that will lead to a productive future.

“Club staff show respect. They try to get the best out of you.”- Alexis, 12

AZ STAT Only 75.1% of students in Arizona graduate from high school on time.

ABC’S. 123’S.FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.Every day after school, our Club kids are provided the time, space, resources and assistance to complete their homework. During the summer, our Clubs offer programs that prevent summer learning loss.

From the basics to advanced STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) programs, our youth love to learn because we make learning fun. Whether through focused reading time for youth, or teaching teens how to manage their personal finances, our Club members acquire academic skills that carry over into the classroom as well as real-world skills that prepare them for the journey ahead.

“I love that Club staff can help me with my homework instead of me struggling at home by myself.”- Aleah, 11

“The Club has helped me in school by showing me how to do problems I didn’t know how to do.”- Anelisa, 12

LEADERSHIP.VOLUNTEERISM.COMMUNITY IMPACT.Your donation is as impactful as it is transcendent, ultimately reaching thousands in our community by enabling our Club members to volunteer. Programs like Torch and Keystone Clubs, Leaders in Training (LIT), and smaller leadership and service groups include members who donate their time, energy and talent. The result? Local neighborhoods that thrive.

Last year, our members contributed 5,233 hours of service to theirClubs and their communities.
