Varsity Band Tidwell Band performing at football game. Symphonic Band students earned Superior Ratings from all 3 judges on stage and an Excellent Rating in the Sight Reading room. Wind Ensemble students earned Superior Ratings from all judges and were awarded a Sweepstakes Trophy.

Students will be responsible for supplying some of the instructional materials for this class, not to exceed $50, as materials such as recipe ingredients and sewing notions are required for lessons. ______ 85330 Theater Arts This class is designed as an introduction to theater, drama, public speaking, and stage design. ______ 88302 Teen Leadership The class enables individuals to build personal responsibility, and leadership skills through group activities, role plays, speeches and projects. ______ 87300 Introduction to Spanish This course is designed to introduce the basic components of the Spanish language as well as the cultural aspects and customs of Spanish speaking countries. ______ 88013 Exploring Careers / Career Portals Students work in rotations, exposing them to many different careers. A few of the careers they explore are: Computer Graphics and Animations, Flight Technology, Engineering Towers and Robots. Modules are delivered through a combination of hands-on activities in a cooperative learning environment.

Electives: Please number your choices of electives from 1 to 8, with 1 being your first choice. Please understand that if your first selection is full or cancelled, you will be placed in the next available course. Priority is given to those who return the completed Registration Form by the due date. * You must obtain teacher signature if it is required or you will not be assigned to that class. Students are not required to take PE or Athletics if they took PE/Athletics in 6 th and 7 th grade. *______86370 / 86371 Athletics A physical from an acceptable health resource is required for this course. Students in athletics must participate in competitive sports. Boys sports include football, basketball, cross country, and track. Girls sports include volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track. If a student does not make a team after a tryout period, the student will go through training in an off-season program. If a student did not maintain eligibility or demonstrate acceptable behavior, interest, or aptitude as a seventh grader, they will not be placed in this course and will take P.E. Students must maintain passing grades each six weeks to be eligible to participate. * Coach Approval Required ____________________ ______86360 Physical Education This class involves students in a regular fitness awareness program, including group activities and individual development. Goals include development of sportsmanship, awareness of others, team effort, and social skills. Changing into gym clothes daily is a requirement.

**The following elective courses are eligible for high school credit and grades will be included on all high school transcripts and be calculated ina students Grade Point Average (GPA. **______04113M Art I (one HS Fine Arts credit) Art 1 is an introduction to the use of elements and principles of design. **______06013M Spanish I (one HS Foreign Language credit) Students learn functional skills of listening, writing, reading, and speaking Spanish. Students must have an 85 average in Language Arts or successfully completed Intro to Spanish. * Language Arts or Spanish Teacher Approval _________________ **______ 0700M Health (1/2 HS elective credit) Students will study nutrition, first aid, safety, and emergency care, as well as, physical and community health and fitness. This is a semester class and is taken in conjunction with Communications Applications. **______ 0045M Communications Applications (1/2 HS credit; satisfies Speech credit for graduation) This course includes using appropriate interpersonal communication strategies, effective group communications, and the ability to deliver and evaluate formal and informal presentations. This is a semester class and is taken in conjunction with Health.
