Purpose of VSBA

• Promote awareness, interest, and enjoyment of good, new young adult literature.

• Promote literacy and life-long reading habits• Encourage students to read quality

contemporary literature• Honors outstanding books chosen annually by

Tennessee Students

• Different from other awards (Newbery, Caldecott, Printz) because STUDENTS choose the book that receives the award.

• Tennessee Students have to read (or have read to them) at least three of the twenty titles on the annual list to be able to vote.

• Votes will be cast in the Spring.

classroom, the public library, a book store- anywhere!

• Voting will take place in the library in the spring.
